Odd thing is that when I first did the search, it came up for $122. But after I left the page open for a while and it asked me if I wanted to update, it came back with a slightly lower price.

I took a gamble on this one even though it didn't precisely match anything on the hotel list. Figured it was a safe gamble given the 95% recommend and 500+ reviews.

Maybe the pool is currently out of commission? And yes, I did use the HOTWIRE link.

4* Donovan House - a Thompson Hotel

Exactly as shown in the hotels list. My favorite hotel in DC! Always a treat when I see them show up on Hotwire.

Never stayed at this one before.

I just booked this for one night on 3/6/09 for $104 (after taxes, $124.89). Exactly as listed on the Hotwire hotel list:

As always, I used the HOTWIRE link to begin my purchase.

I needed to extend my stay by one day, and was able to get another night at the Sofitel for the same price on Feb 3.

I used the HOTWIRE link, as usual.

Hotwire showed this as a 4.5* instead of a 4*, but the amenities matched the Sofitel, so I took a leap of faith and booked it. And yep, it was the Sofitel. Hooray!

I stayed here earlier this year (April or May) and remember being pleasantly surprised by the amenities. The free breakfast includes a fun make-your-own-pancake machine. The fitness center is very small, but free. The business center appeared to have a couple of computers set up for (free?) public use. I used the wireless internet--also free. Walking distance to Whole Foods.

The decor is nothing special and the view from my room was of a brick wall, but the location is such that I don't have to take the red line during rush hour, so it's worth it.
