Let me first say that I am an extreme nerd when it comes to getting a good deal on hotels. I have turned plenty of people on to this website and for priceline in general. But, it was stressful to book THREE hotel rooms for a ski vacation using my father in laws credit card. Thank goodness I did my homework! As for this trip, it's finally time for me to branch out there and impress my wife with my better bidding skills in Vegas. I have only spent a total of ONE night in Las Vegas when I was moving someone to Reno, Nevada. On that instance I used hotwire and got the Monte Carlo for a respectable $89 on a weekend. But, now I am trying to book a trip for the very busy July 4th holiday and would appriciate any advice! The dates are July 1-5th for a total of four nights. I have seen the "horror" stories when it comes to the Trump but I don't guess it would be a big deal for me since I'm not a huge gambler. My wife and I want to see the sights and visit the dam but also want to be right in the middle of all of the action. Here's what I've come up with so far. The WORST case I've seen that i'd be happy with outside of hotwire/priceline is the booking directly through the Monte Carlo website. For a basic room after tax it is listed as $450 for my dates. I figure this is how I want to approach the bidding... Priceline (after tax) Bid of $70 = 318 Bid of $80 = 363 Bid of $90 = 407 Now, the one thing I'm not sure is which star levels and locations to try first. And, is now (Feb) too early to start the bidding? I would say to start with 5* in Strip North, then add 5* Strip South? Let me know your thoughts. THANK YOU!!!
