  1. Tried to get 5-star on strip for friends trip but decided cost was most important factor. Bid 5-star north and south strip at $75 and $80. Bid $65 for Convention Center Zone and was accepted at the Renaissance Las Vegas Convention Center for July 10-12. Not bad considering that is a weekend. Regular rate on hotel website is $82 so that's a pretty good deal. Thanks and yes, we used the PRICELINE links.
  2. I have actually tried to bid on priceline to get the Trump and ended up with the Wynn and Venetian. In my opinion you can't go wrong with either. People have complained about the Trump in the past because there is a resort fee that is tacked on for each night you're there. Also, I'm not sure if valet parking is included. Help anyone? Also, the Trump isn't ACTUALLY ON the strip. It's near the strip but overall I think it looks like a fantastic property. Have a great time!
  3. I can tell you from my experience on the upcoming trip I have during those dates that they sure are putting a premium rate on July 4th weekend... so keep that in mind. Maybe stay on the strip during the week and venture out for the weekends?
  4. I am a huge fan of splitting hotel nights as long as you aren't picky. I have a trip set for Las Vegas this summer where I got the Venetian for $90 a night for Tues-Friday. But, if I added the weekend it skyrocketed to $149 a night on hotwire. NO THANKS. And, to be honest most won't mind staying some on the strip then getting away from it to explore. For the weekend we'll be staying away from the strip at the Loews on Lake Las Vegas. If you're on a tight budget I think it's the way to go!
  5. One more question. Thanks for your help. What zone would the Red Rock hotel be in now? I think things have changed recently. Thanks! AND... anyone know what the resort fee is for Loews?
  6. Nice to report a win! Yes we used the PRICELINE link for better bidding. Used the re-bid zone for Nellis (because I had already placed a bid earlier in the day) and selected 4* with Henderson/Lake Las Vegas. My original bid was $75 and they offered a counter for $22 more. I decided to try $86 and it was accepted at the Loews Lake Las Vegas. July 4-5. Thanks!
  7. I'm sure we'll be DONE with casino's by then. We'll be at the Venetian and Wynn for the 4 nights leading up to it. Looking for a nice relaxing evening by the pool for our final night.
  8. Tried a few bids to feel it out... $75 for JW Marriottzone - Failed $75 for Lake Las Vegas- offered counter offer to increase by $22. $97 for night at Loews Lake Las Vegas 4-star. Sounds like a good deal considering the rate is around $159 anywhere else. Thoughts?
  9. Moderator, if you feel you need to bump this threat to my other thread please feel free... I found out that I'll get to spend another night in Las Vegas over the 4th of July weekend. I am already going to be there June 30-July 4th. We are staying in Venetian and in Wynn thanks to this message board. But, now that I need to get another room for the night of the 4th I need some help. I'm thinking that since we're on the strip this whole time it would be nice to venture out. Does anyone have any opinion or thoughts on the outlying areas? I think my order would be this... West- Red Rocks (What zone is this in anyway?) Henderson/Lake Las Vegas- Lowes Lake Las Vegas Summerlin/NW- JW Marriott Resort Or am I missing out by not really trying to be on the strip for the 4th of july night. fireworks anywhere? I'd appriciate any suggestions and I'll bid accordingly. THANKS!
  10. Humm.... i remember valet parking at the Hyatt in Atlanta and it was about $15... $22+ seems a little excessive. Ever heard of getting a deal? I know at the Sheraton in Chattanooga you can get the valet comped if you eat at the resturant. Any idea about that? I would self park but i am afraid of getting broken into. Yikes... i think i'll stick with buckhead or the airport in the future. :)
  11. Sorry to burst your bubble but i do want you to understand you do get what you pay for in Chattanooga. If a standard holiday inn room (days inn too) will fit your needs I'm sure you will be happy. You will have NO problem going to the choo-choo on the free shuttle from any other hotel in the downtown area. The closer you get to the river the nicer the neighborhood. As you can see the choo-choo is many blocks away in an older part of town. As for the rennovations they will not be complete by then. From what I hear this is a multi-year and multi-million dollar job. I don't want to discourage you because I LOVE CHATTANOOGA and the city is amazing. Also, I understand if you are on a budget but as far as hotels go I would pick about 10 other hotels downtown before the choo-choo. Good luck!!! There is also a BRAND new Holiday Inn express that may not be listed in hotwire just yet that is real nice! Keep us updated!
  12. Let me encourage you as a resident of Chattanooga to consider another hotel. Yes, the choo-choo is a GREAT place to visit but NOT a great place to stay for a vacation. I would urge you to consider the Sheraton Read House, Marriott, or anything else downtown that is 3 star or higher. They are currently pouring money into the Choo-Choo and it should be GREAT (after dropping the Holiday Inn brand) after they are finished.... but as of now it is just a run down holiday inn motel. Yes, if you pay more you can stay in a train car, but you can't get that on priceline or hotwire. As a side note, if you are still wanting to book that rate I can say almost 99% that it would be the choo-choo. If you do stay there make sure to take advantage of the free electric shuttle and see all downtown has to offer. Don't miss the Bluff View art district! I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have. AND... since your child loves trains... don't miss the Tennessee Valley Railroad museum where you can actually take a ride in a locomotive!
  13. This hotel was recently named #10 on the top ten dirtiest hotels in America by Trip Advisor. Yuck. http://www.tripadvisor.com/dirtyhotels
  14. Just for kicks... I put in April 25-26.. 4* 3.5* 3* 2.5* High bid of $65 with no luck either time. Wonder if I'll have better luck trying for two nights? I will try zones in the airport next. ____________________________ Nope... tried April 24-26 (4*-2.5*) for $65 a night in Airport/Downtown and didn't get a bite. Maybe Opryland?
  15. No, I never had any luck. And yes... it's the Music City Marathon that weekend. Yipppie... :-/ But, it's also the night Dave Matthews Band is playing at Vanderbilt stadium. (I'm going) It's the craziest I've ever seen Nashville outside of Fanfare. Anyone have ANY luck? I see one guy got the Sharaton Music City for $60 a night but he booked for a week...
  16. Thank you for the advise about parking. We are thinking about using the self park which is $15 a day and just using cabs to get where we need to go (Atlanta Braves Game). Downtown Atlanta is hit or miss with priceline. You can usually get a heck of a deal but the gamble is which 3.5 star you'll get. We chose downtown to avoid staying far from Turner Field in Mid-town or Buckhead. Your trip is only what you make of it and I'm sure we'll have a great one!
  17. Easter weekend... $50 a night and got Renaissance Downtown Atlanta. I'm kind of concerened about the $25+ a night for parking listed on the website. Anyone have any suggestions on where else to park? Other ways to go about it? Self parking? I tried to bid for the Stone Mountain Marriott Resort at $45 and it was rejected. Then I added 4 star Atlanta and got this. And yes, I used the PRICELINE links. April 10-12, two nights.
  18. Thanks, I will, have you ever seen MontBlue come up in this search?
  19. Looking to identify last minute booking in South Lake Tahoe. 3.5 Star for $56. Amenities Resort, Near Beach, Casino, Fitness Center, Pool, Resturant, Business Center, Golf Nearby Thanks so much! We have a ski trip coming up and are looking to stay a night in South Tahoe.
  20. Don't laugh, but the backup is to stay with a friend but we want to avoid that! We were also looking in the Murfreesboro, TN area. They have an Embassy Suites and a Doubletree but 3-star isn't listed in the priceline choices for that zone. Oh well... guess we'll keep looking. I will try the re-bid today.
  21. I assume I'll be adjusting those rates. Earlier this morning I went ahead and threw in $50 though the PRICELINE link on the site for all three zones. Yikes. We do have a backup plan so i think i'll stick with this plan every 24 hours until something sticks. I am not clear on the re-bid zones in nashville. Can you advice? I do understand the concept, but just not in Nashville.
  22. You are correct in your assumption my friend. The event we are attending is downtown so that is the first preference. I would rather spend up to my limit, whatever that ends up being downtown and then get father and father away as need be. 1st- Downtown 2nd- Airport 3rd- Opryland I'm just afraid, that after the prices I've see on Expedia and other sites that this is an especially busy weekend for some reason. Heck, it may be because of the concert we're going to! Nashville has always been a fairly expensive town for a nice hotel. Go figure. It's not like Las Vegas where you can get a room for $49 a night on a weekend. A supply and demand sort of thing I suppose. I can't even find a hotwire rate I'm interested in. Try that one on for size. Thanks again!
  23. I am trying to find the best deal on a 3-star or better hotel in Nashville for the night of April 25th. I would prefer downtown, then Airport, then Opryland area. The only thing that scares me about the airport is the 3-star Marriott Courtyard. I've stayed there before and it's not very impressive so that zone would be my last choice. Any suggestions would be appriciated. Thanks! *Would like to stay around the $50 dollar mark. :::crosses fingers::: Anything 3 star or better in downtown is GREAT... I would prefer the 3.5 star level at the Airport after that. (Sherition Music City..etc..)
  24. Ah.... i see that. Ok, that's the LOWEST price i've seen so far, but $160 for a weekend rental stinks! :)
  25. Hey there. Thanks for taking a look. I am taking a quick weekend trip and found a great deal on an airfare that certainly fits my schedule. The problem is, I didn't realize how expensive a one-way car rental could be. Does anyone have any tips on how to find the best deal for a one way car rental in june? Is it better to wait closer to the dates of travel? I COULD have someone pick me up but I'd rather have the flexability of having a car. June 19 6:00pm Raleigh/Durham return June 21 6:00pm Richmond, VA Thanks for any help!
