  1. started with $50 and got counteroffer to increase $14, added instead the East zone and increased to $55 - got the Marriott High Point - Airport (#6 at TA) :) Exactly as expected :)
  2. There is Designer's Marathon in Charlottesville on that weekend (start Oct. 2nd) which makes the hotel rates for the 3-4* Hotels overthere so I decided to stay in Staunton instead. Easy to recognize at hotwire that the offered 3* with 4,5 out of 5 at TA is the #1 Hotel in Staunton. amenities--pool, laundry, smoke free, restaurant, fitness, business, internet It was $81 first but after couple of hours it sems that hotwire-system counts the website clicks and goes down to $79 after a while? Crazy guys :) !!! However for a total of $93 it's a quite good deal as this hotel seems to be really nice. Of course they charge for parking :)
  3. Interesting!! Looks like they started 2H2009 offers now! I'm looking for 12/15-12/16/09 but only got rejections up to $45. "median price is 364 USD" ... the win here is Fr-Sa....hmm seems like I need to wait a bit BTW: official last minute rate for this hotel is 55 EUR (incl. tax) so not so much difference to priceline total (57 USD=40 EUR)
  4. started with $60 and got counter offer to increase $17. Continued with $66 but got rejected. Tried $70 with account of my girlfriend who joins and got again counter offer to add $17 :) Took $75 and got this Marriott Resort And Spa Room Cost (avg. per room, per night):$75.00 (USD) Room Subtotal: $150.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $26.88 (USD) Total Room Cost:$176.88 (USD) Price at Marriott.com $189 Question: is Marriott Resort And Spa same as some folks here report as " Marriott Beach and Golf Resort"??
  5. won the first bid $50 :) Total $62,24 on starwood.com $100 plus taxes
  6. $60 showed a counteroffer to add $17, added free rebid zone and took $65 Should be great for our 1-night purpose even I tried before 3,5* for same period and went up to 70 for Chesapeake area: Marriott Norfolk Chesapeake was my target but no sucess. So I decided to go for 4* instead :)
  7. Thanks THERYOUARE!! the airpor close to Wedmore is "Williamsburg Jamestown" not "Intl Airport PHF" good that this forum here exists, I wondered that such a small hotel like Wedmore would sell its rooms in HOTWIRE.... Omni is not my style... Thanks again!!
  8. for 09/21/09 to 09/22/09 I get $71 for a 4* hotel in Newport News/Williamsburg Intl Airport PHF which whould fit acc. to my investigations to Wedmore Place: Also Hotwire says: 3,5 out of 5 at TA and 20+ reviews (Wedmore Place has 22) last reviewed in June 2009 (fits) Acc. to the hotel receptionist (email) breakfast and winetasting is included in any rate regardless the point of purchase so I think I'll go for that deal. Official rate $150 up :) This hotel features the following amenities: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access
  9. first bid accepted for 3,5* Tysons Corner-Falls Church and got the Marriott :) (as expected) Price at Marriott.com $189 plus tax so I got 75% off :)
  10. why is Meridien suddenly 4* and today it shows 5* best deal?
  11. True, it's really city center Hamburg - we stayed in the Renaissance (in old building) which is around the corner couple of weeks ago - Hamburg is great :)
  12. we started with 5* for $85 but got rejected and my idea was to continue immediately by adding 4* for $55. My friend who will travel thought that if too low there is a risk to get the NH Altona (as it's officiall offered for $95 incl. tax (67 EUR)). We decided to try and he got 2 rooms for total 7 nights Marriott Hamburg in Downtonw (Neustadt) for $1000 in total :) which is ca. 50 EUR/room/night!!! Remember that the pay-at-hotel sites start for same period at 55 EUR in 2* level and far from city!!
  13. we were in that hotel last year, booked last minute 2 days before: 55 EUR on the weekend. I had my problems to find the 4th star but quite good location for us as we had a party in Neustadt (walking distance through the park). Parking free very close (also a plus) Good value but nothing fenzy compared to US-4* hotels (2* in USA)
  14. just checked hotel rates in summer (Aug 7th -9th) 2009. Wow, increadible low official rates: no reason to use priceline: 5* Hyatt Regency with breakfast 55 EUR 5* Le Meridien Bristol with breakfast 87,90 EUR 5* MaMaison 96,30 EUR 5* The Westin 74,44 EUR with breakfast 5* Intercontinental 59 EUR 5* Raddisson Blue 51 EUR 5* Hilton 66 EUR 5* Marriott 57 EUR 5* Sofitel 58 EUR These are only the 5* hotels, 3* for 35 EUR Wow, low exchangerate and the crisis seem to be the sad reason (for hotel owners)
  15. first bid won, expected this somehow without evidence as hotwire had 3,5* for $76, that's why I reduced my first bid to $60 and got it :) As I got only Sheraton so far for our trip in Sept/October 2009 I suppose Starwood is a bit ahead of competition adding the bargain prices to priceline NYOP and hotwire this year? Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $60.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $120.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $25.25 (USD) Total Room Cost: $145.25 (USD) (52 EUR)
  16. We are just back from last weekend's priceline win "Melia Roma Aurelia" which is within the "grande raccordo" ringroad but still far from every other civilization (restaurant, shops etc). They offer a free shuttle but the last shuttle for return to hotel is 22:00 which is Italian dinner start- you'll never have chance to enjoy real dinner except 25 EUR taxi-ride... Honestly there are hundreds of hotels in Rome which are closer to public transport for reasonable rates. Check following areas: Vaticano, Trastevere Trastever has all the restaurants and you can do everything by foot e.g. www.bbtrastevere.com/eng/presentazione.html Rome isnot a real good priceline city! check: booking.com, hrs.com, hotels.de etc.
  17. just OK deal: 20% below Expedia.com rate (total $101) Hotel is good location in former West-Berlin (= good area, quality and value) close to Kurf
  18. Marriott Rive Gauche is close the Montparnasse which is basically a cheaper area but there might be a fair or convention which makes the rates explode in the chain hotels. Official rate for your period (not weekend!) at booking.com is 715 EUR incl. taxes and breakfast = ca. $1000 you payed $400 for the 2 nights without breakfast? Marriott.com sam - prepaid rates with breakfast start at $600 for 2 nights incl. tax, so your deal is acceptable, enjoy the breakfast in a nice bistro Hotel seem not to be the newest and is definetly not close to major tourist attractions - however Metro just in fron of the house!
  19. sorry, you are right: 2 nights stay has less taxes/night as 1 nights stay - I suppose it isn't only the tax but the priceline "fee" you pay only once if you book more than 1 night
  20. Thanks Dahammer for your tip! Regardless if skyscrapers "downtown" is the for me (German :) ) city center and priceline still uses the "waterfront" in their "recommended deals for you" .. when you click the "deal" it switches to "downtown"... ?? OK however I think $65 for the Sheraton is great deal
  21. Refering to http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry249318 and http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?sho...mp;hl=annapolis I'd like to ask why both priceline customers got almost same total price: $50 bid fees $14.14, $64.87 Total $55 bid fees $9.87 $64.14 Total hhhmm seesm the reason is the time of booking. Just checked 55 bid for my dates and the fees went to $14,88... hhhmm?
  22. Very interesting to me!!!! 5 Dollars more in bid than me but same total rate? How is this possible? $50 bid fees $14.14, $55 bid fees $9.87 This would be interesting question to priceline? Can you help "thereyouare"?
  23. first bid won :) total $64,14 (which is for me 45 EUR GREAT Deal) Actually seems that Priceline Marketing folks renamed the areas: "Annapolis downtown" = "waterfront" and Annapolis = "highway area". aarrrhhh I'd have prefered a nice small hotel at waterfront. Downtown is usually the skyscraper's area, isn't it? However official rate at starwood.com is $119+taxes and many things are included in room rate acc. to starwood.com: heated indoor pool, jacuzzi, FREE Internet in lobby, FREE parking .... hope that it isn't too noisy.
  24. this thread belongs to Hotwire!! note that esp. at Hotwire the areas are very "wide" e.g. Sheraton is 4* and they sell it as "central" defacto it's in the south-west ouskirts of Rome. Please let me tell you that you most likely won't get a real bargain at priceline/hotwire for Rome! On weekends priceline sells the Melia Aurelia at priceline for low rates but it's similar or even more than hotelwebpage! The only area which is recommended (as it's very small) is "Vaticano". Central can be everywhere and taxis are really expenisve in Italy (these Mafiosi charge for every trip within the "Grande Raccordo" ring road 20-25 EUR/trip, doesn't matter if 5km or 15km) I'd recommend B&B in Trastevere, expect 50-90 EUR depending on season. Good 3* hotels close to Metro 80-100 EUR, 4* hotels with Metro connection 120-150 EUR. Double incl. italian breakfast (coffee and croissant only!!)
