  1. note that the S-Bahn doesn't go to airport from Freising but a bus (635 every 20mins takes 20mins) The fee for Shuttle is quite high: 11 EUR/Person per direction - a private parking (not the hotel one) with shuttle start with 15 EUR parking 1night, shuttle for up to 5 people both ways. There is a park-sleep-fly package at marriott.com for 14-days parking, 1 night sleep, free shuttle and (cont.-) breakfast for 139 EUR
  2. I decided to give PRICELINE a chance as HOTWIRE and pay-at-hotel sites show still quite high rates for that Thursday-Friday night. Knowing that Moevenpick (which is 3* at priceline) offers last minute deals for 49 EUR with NYOP conditions (non cancelable) I thought 70 bucks (incl. taxyes ca. 61 EUR) is accpetable rate.... and surprise surprise: I got the Marriott Airport in Freising: Offer : US$70.00 Taxes & Fees: US$13.36 Total Charges: US$83.36 (=ca. 61 EUR) Official rate at Marriott $190, priceline $198 There is special rate
  3. Renaissance & Marriott Munich is quite off-track as well but U-Bahn very close!
  4. Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access for $106/night SubTotal:$212.00 Tax recovery charges and fees: $31.49 Total price: $243.49 which is
  5. my search is for 26th to 28th February 2010 in Vienna and I get a 5* with Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access for $106/night I suppose it's the Le Meridien? Does Hilton Plaza have a pool as well? So this could be the Hilton Plaza?? Strange is that Hotwire say shows 4,5 at TA out of 50+ reviews but I can't find any hotel with 4,5 and 50+ reviews??? except the Best Western Premiere R
  6. Le Meridien is 4* at priceline? how could it be won as 5*?

  8. fully agree! That's why I don't want to spend too much for a car if at all!! As you know many Europeans (esp. these ones who only stay 4 nights but fly 10hs to EWR like us :) ) visit US to do shopping. Also our plane back to MUC leaves around 8 pm so we have still a lot of time on the last day before departure. We stay 1 night at Marriott EWR (free parking), then we move to Westin Jersey City for 3 nights till Tuesday. A car just gives you much more flexiblity in visiting malls and stores which are not accessible by public transport. One more question: - do you have any idea if it's a problem to leave a car for a while at the supermarket parking behind the Westin Jersey? is there any other free parking area around?
  9. sorr for my bad English. I mean even if insurance was included in the rate the minimum amount insured is 500k USD, correct? However this might not be enough in case of an accident? I understand more and more why car rental bidding isn't as popular as Hotel bidding with priceline :) I'm looking for 03/26 to 03/30 4 nights EWR-EWR - we stay in Westin Jersey City and I'm not sure if I'll find a free parking around (supermarket parking is behind the hotel but maybe you Thereyouare know better as from Hoboken?)
  10. I think that even it's included the amount is only 50.000 USD which isnot enough.... but there are insurances available which increase this amount to 2,5 Mio uSD
  11. started with $50, $55, $60 finally $65 won Good hotel very close to the A9 highway to airport!!
  12. good luck! A friend also wanted to have get the courtyard but got the "Leonardo Hotel & Residence Munich" which is definetley not bad!
  13. hello again, is it true that the cars haven't even any liablity insurance included? "motor vehicle third party liability insurance"?
  14. I'd have soem questions on hotwire car rentals. - Cheapest supplier in EWR seems to be "Enterprise rent-a-car" - can I trust these folks? is this just a placeholder for the later named car rental dealer or a real company? - they won't charge anything to my CC so the booking is fully flexible (no cancelation penalties?) - will there be any mandatory charges I can't avoid even insurance is included in my creditcard if I use them to pay for rental? Priceline versus Hotwire: could I really get a car at priceline for $19 instead of $30 at hotwire with the only disadvantage to loose flexibiliy? Is Priceline same deal as hotels? non-canceable, 100% prepayment? Thanks
  15. also remember when bidding for MUC and Munich that 4* Moevenpick MUC Airport lowest rate is 49 EUR/night (ca. 70 USD)
  16. Sept 9th is too early for Oktoberfest :) as Panda123 said both hotels are possible. Remember that Hilton has 50% off "January sale" right now and you get the Hilton for 155 USD (104 EUR) incl. taxes and breakfast! hurry up - limited availability I can recommend the Hilton: quiet area next to Englischer Garten, the Chinese tower beergarden and rooms are big as you are used to in the USA. The breakfast was one of the best I ever had in a German Hotel!! Super Sauna and Pool!! If you prefer to be more in the city centre there is the Hilton City for 102 EUR January Sale which is easier as it's in the city (netxt to Philharmonie Concert Hall) and subway in front of door! However I can't recommend as never been there... Westin Grand is the old Arabella Sheraton Grand. I was in Frankfurt Westin Grand which had been also tranfered to the Westin brand from Arabella Sheraton and I didn't like so much, as the age of the property is still visible. Rooms are Westin but 5*?? Yes for German terms correct but not compared to Asia or US 5*! Take the Hilton Park, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. The Hiltons in Munich are one of the Top deals of the German Hiltons!!!
  17. started 4* Munich "Center North" with $58 got counter offer to increase $13, used South and Center South with $60 and $62 but failed. Even Airport at $65. Tried some 3* between $45 and $52 as Hotwire offers (100% same as Exedia without surprises) a 3* f
  18. started 5* Tiergarten-Kurfuerstendamm with $85 (earlier winning bid) but got counteroffer to increase $22. Did use free rebid zone "Charlottenburg" with $87 rejected, used next free rebid zone "Kreuzberg" with $90 and got as expected Berlin Marriott. BTW: seems that Priceline doesn't care about spelling mistakes on their webpage: I've highlighted 2-3 times to these folks by email that it isnot "Tiergarten-Kufuerstendamm" but "Tiergarten-Kurfuerstendamm" with "r" after "Ku" but they just don't care.... poor service!! :) "Kurfuerst" in English is "elector" or do you understand if it's "eletor"...... :)
  19. tried $45 but got counter offer to increase to $55, rejected and used free rebid zone to bid $50 - got the Renaissance Las Vegas
  20. don't know if July is high season? why did you post this today (November)? BTW: Priceline in Europe is not as good deal as in the US, the hotels you'll win are mainly US-Chains like Marriott, Starwood, Intercontinental etc. As Priceline trusts it's partners in Europe on their self rated *-rating a European 4* is US 2,5* hotel! Wins of 3* are sometimes Courtyard Marriott but sometimes also low key local chain hotels. In Europe check this forum carefully (and use the links above) and first check the last minutes pay at hotel sites like priceline partner booking or hrs!
  21. Thanks, even some TA-reviews talk about bedbugs.... :)
  22. as we'll arrive late 19:40 from MUC at EWR and I couldn't get a "reasonable" rate at Westin Jersey City (stopped at $100 for 4 nights from 03/26/10) I decided to stay first night at airport. Started with $40 at airport area, added Elizabeth with $43 and got the Renaissance Airport with free shuttle from/to airport. I read that even a Sauna is available- great for a relaxing night after 9hs in airplane. BTW: the stay3pay offers from Starwood Hotels gave me for Westin Jersay (03/27-03/30) same rate a 2009 with the priceline bidding - ok it was for October, March seem to be low seaon in NYC :)
  23. started with 45 :) which was rejected, check this site and found Marriott win for $60... got the Hilton - not worse I think, just to sleep before we depart from BWI around noon.....
  24. Regards from the Crowne Plaza Asheville Hotel. True I also can't find any reson for "resort": the heated outside pool was dirty (many many leaves maybe just fell down today however nobody feels responsible to clean the pool on such windy days??) Good things are: free parking, free Wifi and reasonable breakfast buffet (10,95+tax+gratuity) BUT you definetly need a car to go downtown (we just came back) which takes some "weird" curves and exits on the highway.... I can't see what was recently renovated in our room 495. Mould smell after the parfum the rooms service has used had gone. old AC under the window, old fridge, old doors, old carpet - vending machines not working, very very old noisy elevator. :) The lobby might be 3* (restaurant with an open fire place) but the rooms and the rest is 2* nothing else! If you remember that "Crowne Plaza" Brand is one level below the "Intercontinental" at ICHotels this is a very very bad example :)
