  1. I know the prices have gone up since last year when I got the NY Hilton and Towers and the Waldorf both for $125 a night in October. Now I need three nights and want a 4* again in MTW and hopefully will get the NY Hilton and Towers again. Does anyone know what I might start my bidding at...... and how high should I go? If I was just booking for mylself, I wouldn't care as much on the price, but I'm also booking for another couple who have never been to NYC. Thanks.
  2. I will try again to get the NY Hilton and Towers for 3 nights for under $200 for May 15-18. Any suggestions? I am travelling with another couple and we are getting together this Tuesday to discuss our hotel accommodations. I'm leary about bidding on a 3* and thought I should just go for the 4* which is what I really want.
  3. I am going to bid on Priceline for two rooms. One couple needs the trip insurance and I do not. Would it be better for me to bid on both rooms, but then can the other couple call Priceline and add on the insurance? Or, should we bid individually on the rooms? If bidding individually, what are the chances of them getting a different 4 star hotel than us. I would hate for them to get a different hotel than us. Any suggestions?
  4. Thanks for your input about the prices going up. Although my $125 price last year was for a Midtown West hotel (NY Hilton and Towers) as well as the Waldorf. I have been looking at hotel prices all morning and because we have travel partners that might have to cancel, I am going to try and book a hotel so I can have the option of cancelling if need be. Then as we get closer, I might try Priceline again in April and try bidding again for a 4* but I will up the price to at least $150 or $160. I think this is a fair price to pay for a NYC hotel. Luckily I got a great price on my cruise to NY and my one-way air fare home, so I can go the extra for a roonm in NYC. I'll keep you posted.
  5. Yikes...just tried to bid for a 4* NYC MW for May 05 and couldn't even get a bite for $130. Hotwire is offering a 4* for $160. Last October I bid for 4* for $125 and got NY Hilton and Towers and the Waldorf Astoria. Have the prices gone up this year? or is May a peak time? Do I have to up to $150 for a 4* or go down a notch to 3* for $130? I really want to be Midtown West not the East side. I don't mind spending $150 for a 4* but I have to check with the other couple that is joining us. Thanks.
  6. What rating was the Hyatt? Was it Resort level? I am planning to bid for next May and want a resort because anything else might wind me up on the other side of the island and I want to be within walking distance of Duval Street. Thanks.
  7. Has anyone bid on any Key West Hotels? What dates did you book? What did you bid and what did you get? I have always booked Key West stays directly through the establishment, but would love to try and get a good deal. I'm curious on what Priceline and Hotwire offer as their hotels. Thanks.
  8. Key West hotels are up to $200 or more for this time of year. I go to Key West often but I've never used Priceline or Hotwire to book a room. I'm nervous about booking a room on Priceline or Hotwire for Key West, because of how spread out it is. I may try just one night and see what I get and then book the others elsewhere. Key West is tricky because if you want to be near Duval Street, where all the action is, you can't specify what area you want (not like NYC). Key West has hotels on the other side of the island where you would have to take a shuttle from the hotel and pay for that or drive and pay for parking to be in the town. If you want to be near Duval street, you might consider calling the Hilton or some B and B's and see what prices they offer. Key West is not cheap near Duval Street. I have stayed at the Hilton by Mallory Square and sometimes you can get a deal calling directly. I usually stay at the Banyan Tree Resort. They are one block away from Duval, and have kitchens (they are a Timeshare, but rent out on a daily basis), they are not cheap though, but I save money by eating breakfast and lunch in the room. Keep in mind February is high season in Florida, prices are at there highest. Let us know how you do.
  9. I bid through Priceline for the first time and will be staying at the NY Hilton and Towers and the Waldorf-Astoria each for three nights in October. I printed out my confirmation information from the site, but do I need to call these hotels just to confirm my rooms? Should I specify that I want non-smoking, king bed, etc?
