  1. Hi, Speaking from experience do not use PRICELINE for Dubai. You will pay too much for hotels which are not that great.
  2. Hello everybody, I would like to visit NYC end of next week for couple of days, but saw a jump in hotel prices starting on Monday. Is there some sort of event going on which could explain? On Monday I know there is the 9/11 rememberance but does that start already on Monday? Thanks for your help. Sam
  3. For my dates they are not too bad I think expected it too be much worse and the strong Euro helps of course also a lot :)

    ETAP hotels?

I am really sorry but I have to react on this! You are in France and then you are going to eat breakfast at McDonalds :) ???!!!! ..... Right. I would rather suggest, you go to a nice bar to have a croissant and cafe au lait !
  7. Do some research first, for example on the hotel websites, Expedia etc and see what kind of prices these give you. I did a quick check and prices tend to be high for these period. Either adjust your bidding price or go to lower *.
  8. Search the winning bids. Often you see the same hotels popping up for approx. the same prices. Nevertheless, this is not full proof, but it helped me often in placing bids
  9. It depends where you are and what you want. There are a large amount of hotel chains, especially in France, which are accommodated to sleep more then 2 in a room, like Etap. The only disadvantage might be that they are often on the outskirts of cities.

    Expedia Booking

Hi, Has anybody experience with Expedia hotel bookings? Are you being treated if like you had booked directly to the hotel or can it be a bit Pricelinish? Thanks for your input Sam
  11. After half an hour of bidding for the 6-9 of sept I gave up and split up the dates. There is a big convention starting the 9th . First bid was accepted for 70$. Your Offer Price: $70 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $140 Taxes & Service Fees: $28.06 Total Charges: $168.06 Now have to figure out something for the 8th till 9th. :)
  12. I think you misunderstood me. Of course computers do not need a day off (except in the case that they need to be rebooted or upgraded). The thing is that a lot of hotels, at least here in Europe in big cities and touristy places, have all kind of arrangements for 3 or 4 days, where the prices triple or sometimes even worse. So I think that they have 0 stock for this period (for priceline) but I might be wrong of course. And it is kind of curiosity as well.
  13. Hi, Just out of curiosity. Has anybody tried to bid during the holiday days and the outcome of these. Probably outcome zero....... but heh, you never now. Thanks Sam
  14. I arrived at around 9 pm at the desk where I asked for my reservation. The desk clerk on duty looked in the computer and went into the office. I am not sure whether for what reason but I had the impression to ask how to deal with this. He came back and went back again. After around 15 minutes I was finally able to get my key...which of course was not working (what happened to old fashioned thing which you have to put into the door and turn around, it always worked for me). The room I got was not next to fire escape or anything else unusual. Although, it looked a bit beaten up. The annoyance was coming later that evening. I noticed that you could hear your neighbour every time he/she is going to the bathroom or is going to take a bath. It was like somebody was busy in my bath. The rooms are spacious but the interior is not that nice. The lobby is nothing exceptional in my humble opinion. You have a fitness room, which I did not visit, and I think 2 restaurants and a bar. There are also some shops in the hotel. :) I expected a bit more of a Sofitel hotel and was glad that I did not pay the regular price of 250 Euro but booked via Priceline instead.
  15. Started with Champs Elysees at 85 $ raised to 93 $ and added Opera then again $97 Batignolles-Montmatre and finally had a hit with 101$ for the Montparnasse. Taxes added up as 14.10 $ :)
  16. OH dear, I am not doing a good job here :) ... the correct zone should be Champs-Elysees Opera Quarter West. It is just on the border.
  17. TThis hotel is very conveniently located if you are on a business/pleasure trip in Paris and the business part takes place in La defense. The lobby is large but nothing special. The reception desk is not in the main lobby but located on the side. Friendly staff but maybe that is because we speak french :) . Since the theme of the hotel is Jazz they have beautiful photos of all the Jazz legends throughout the hotel. There is as well a Jazz club situated in the hotel where musicians play. Our room was not that large but clean and comfortable. But it might be a problem if you have a lot of suit cases. There are ice machines on every floor. Bathroom is not large either. You have the choice of several breakfast formulas but they do not come cheap. They are around 10 to 20 Euro per person. The situation of the hotel is nice. Only walking distance of the Champs Elysees. At this moment they had a special desk for Roland Garros where tickets could be bought. Unfortunately we did not have the time to do so. Close to the hotel there are several restaurants. We ate at a Moroccan restaurant Chez Berbert, I think the name was, which was delicious. But you must like spicy food. The Metro is also a few steps from the Hotel.
  18. Hi, Got the l'etoile via priceline. Started at 85US$ but you do not have that many freebid zones in Paris and I really needed this part of Paris since it is close to the business area La Defense. Your Offer Price: $92.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $92.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $15.86 Total Charges: $107.86 Review on the hotel is comming :)
  19. In some profiles yes ,but my name differs from my bf, naturally :). I am using the same IP address since I use cable, 4 different credit cards.... + account at priceline UK. I am not sure if they track IP addresses though. Otherwise as well they would have been able to track to me. Although I had a scare they found out, since I got this screen "that they were unable to charge credit card". Appeared that the bank issued a new one and made this, half way my pricelinebid, invalid :) .
  20. Hi, what I do is use different credit cards to different e-mail addresses. Luckily for us our credit cards have to different billing addresses. Secondly, you could use different browsers. Third, make extra profiles in windows, linux or whatever you use as an Operating System. Nevertheless, I was still unsuccessful :) . for my bid in Miami, something going on there?
  21. I am losing precious time here :) . I forgot to mention it, I had also a few time internal server error 500 .. Maybe really busy :)
  22. Hi, I am trying to book a hotel today via priceline ( no luck so far :) ) and everytime I have to wait for 10 minutes even to the point of 20 minutes. Has anybody had this annoyance today? I know sometimes it can take a bit longer but today it is with every bid I do...
