I think "squeegee" is right. I have two secondary emails that I used only once or twice for bidding and they each got the email. My primary email that I have my PL account with has not received it.
The details are the same as the one earlier this year ($10/night up to $50 for 3* or higher). The offer expires April 30.
Not enough room in my sis's house so bid this 2 hours before cutoff for same day bidding.
Bid 2* and 1* at $33 and rejected.
Switched cards and bid $38 for 2* and rejected but got message that I could re-bid with an $11 increase.
Gambled that a 1* would be upgraded and bid $43 for a 1* - accepted and upgraded to 2*. Will check on the tax rate but my first guess is that $5.60 in taxes means this could have been won for $40. Small town bidding is tough.

You're referring to the "We want you to get your hotel room " screen where skipping the page is an option. On this "Give Yourself a Real Chance" page, you HAD to put in a higher number to continue.
I am bidding on Columbia, MO for next weekend (which of course is not a competitive hotel market) and tried around $40 for a 3 star and I got the "no chance" message but at the top it had what I think is a new header that says "Give Yourself a Real Chance!". Anyway, I start putting in new numbers and it's not taking them. Each number I put in would get the response you have to go higher. I go up to the "market average" of $78 which is usually too high and it's still not taking it. So I put in $100 and it would have let me bid that but I cancelled.
I then started over and tried 2* and bid $29 and got the message that I could re-bid if I increased by $7 (to $36). Traditionally, lower bids than the required increase are accepted if you start over so I did and bid $34 and it was rejected.
I'll try again in 72 hours but both of these instances seemed unusual to me so I thought I'd post. It might be that PL is cracking down on the lowball bids and the gaming of bids.
Congrats on breaking the code on 2.5* (and to some extent 3*) hotels in the MDW zone. This is the first time a 2.5* win in MDW has ever been reported on the Internet and it seems that a price in the $60-65 range might win the 3*.
Don't know if this has been mentioned elsewhere but this site now shows up on Google ( Yahoo search).
Results come more easily with Hotwire related searchs ("hotwire bid", "hotwire bidding", etc.) and the site does well with some Priceline related searchs ( shows up with a "Priceline bid" search). Doesn't show up as a first page result when searching for "Priceline bidding" but that's OK.
This was a first bid win but based on the taxes, I think $25 would have worked. These days are right during a Cardinals homestand so I'm feeling good. Thanks bonus money!

I've never had a car down south or downtown and when I've stayed at the Hilton, I've had some things I also needed to do downtown so South Michigan was a reasonable choice. Also, didn't have a lot of luggage so the CTA ride was no problem. I think taking a car to one of the Hiltons would cost you any savings over a MDW hotel.
I'd keep bidding MDW for nights you'll have the car.
