  1. Congratulations on two very successful years. 5600+ members, 30K+ posts, a great community. 3rd anniversary will be on a Saturday. Maybe a party next year.
  2. This was a first bid but was just now bidding the day before and there are no rebids. Only one zone and Acapulco only has 3* and 2*. Expedia wanted $105 for this hotel and Hotwire wanted $63 for something comparable. Congratulations, you got your price of $50 for a 3-star hotel room. Fiesta Inn Acapulco Acapulco Av Costera Miguel Aleman 87 Acapulco, Mexico 52-74-4435050 Check-In Date: Sun, Jan 16, 2005 Check-In Time: After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Tue, Jan 18, 2005 Check-Out Time: 01:00 PM Your Offer Price: $50.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $100.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $24.71 Total Charges: $124.71
  3. I think the sub-$30 wins in this zone are a thing of the past. Was nice while it lasted in 2003. If you wanted to re-bid for a 3* in the low $30s, I think you can safely add any downtown zone.
  4. Bid $55 for Central Kowloon and rejected. Added TST and $60 rejected. Added East HK Island and accepted. Congratulations, you got your price of $65 for a 4-star hotel room. Eaton Hotel Hong Kong Central Kowloon 380 Nathan Road Kowloon Hong Kong, Hong Kong 852-27821818 Check-In Date: Wed, Jan 5, 2005 Check-In Time: After 02:00 PM Check-Out Date: Sat, Jan 8, 2005 Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM Your Offer Price: $65.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $195.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $35.85 Total Charges: $230.85
  5. Perhaps the floor acceptable bid has increased by $1. Prior bid of $32 was rejected. Congratulations, you got your price of $33 for a 3-star hotel room. Four Points Sheraton Ohare O'hare Airport (ORD) 10249 W Irving Park Rd Schiller Park, Illinois 60176 847-671-6000 Check-In Date: Mon, Jan 3, 2005 Check-In Time: After 02:00 PM Check-Out Date: Tue, Jan 4, 2005 Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM Your Offer Price: $33.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $33.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.00 Total Charges: $45.00
  6. Depends on what the other icons are but I'd say the smart money says it's the Amerihost Inn. Other possibilities would be the Holiday Inn and the Doubletree - all three of these have pools.
  7. Congratulations!!!! Looks like you needed the bigger apartment after all.
  8. Way to go! I'm a "$1 bidder" too whenever I can be. Thanks again for sharing this info.
  9. Welcome to BetterBidding! Yes, usually when you lower your quality preference, it's a good move to lower your dollar bid as well but I doubt this hotel would have gone for much less than what you bid. Tough to beat paying one third of their website price - congratulations! With access to the T, seems like the whole spectrum of things in Boston are available to you - Freedom Trail, museums, Sox, "Cheers" bar. Thanks for posting. Have a great trip.
  10. Hi and welcome to BetterBidding! According to the post linked below, the hotel you're considering is likely the Westin Century Plaza since you mention a spa. http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?act...T&f=427&t=2803& The search function on this site works really well so if you search for "beverly hills and hotwire", it will yield all relevant posts. It looks like Le Meridien is also a possibility. Good luck!
  11. That's still a great deal especially since the trip is this week. Thanks a bunch for posting - have a great trip.
  12. Sometimes it almost seems like booking through PL is as predictable as booking through the hotel's own website. :) Thanks for posting - have a great trip.
  13. Welcome to Better Bidding! Thank you for posting your Hotwire buy and your nice comments. Have a great trip!
  14. Thank you for posting that info. I don't watch PL rental cars a lot ( and don't know if PL has minimum bids like they do with hotels) but I've never seen a Premium go for less than $25 in any market. If your trip is way in the future, increasing in $1 increments is workable but if the trip is very soon, I'd consider increasing in $2 or $3 increments. Good luck!
  15. Hi - Thank you for your nice comments and for participating here. Upgrade info is in the Terms and Conditions. Not much said about it but here it is. Hotel Star Ratings Priceline.com will book your reservation in a property with an equal or higher star level than you requested. Reservations are based on rates and availability and are not able to be changed or cancelled. So there's no way to prevent being upgraded and nothing you can do about it if you are. All of my upgrades have been great ( in small towns, I'll bid 1* knowing I'll almost certainly be upgraded) but I understand your concern. .
  16. The exact hotel I wanted. Bid only 2.5* level several times over the last week or so. Up to $55 was rejected and then $60 accepted. No free rebids at the 2.5* level. Their best online rate is $99. Courtyard By Marriott West Palm Beach Airport Palm Beach Airport (PBI) 1800 Centre Park Drive East Palm Beach, Florida 33401 561-207-1800 Check-In Date: Sat, Aug 21, 2004 Check-In Time: After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Mon, Aug 23, 2004 Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM Your Offer Price: $60.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $120.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $20.39 Total Charges: $140.39
  17. That's funny .... W still seems like an odd chain to be initiating a project like this. Seems like most of their properties have been renovations. The place will have a killer view though. In 2001, I Pricelined into the Chicago City Center W for $55 - not likely to see that again. Also, Chart House sounds right. It would have been late 2002.
  18. Well, it's a lead that kind of writes itself :) A friend of mine married a gal from Weehawken last year and a while back, they took me to a great seafood place right on the river with the view of the NYC skyline. I can only the imagine the anger a 27 story building blocking your view could bring.
  19. K-State prof (and fan) - I've had several students from Lenexa in class.
  20. Hey - Yes, indoor pool only with a jacuzzi. The only hotel in town with an outdoor pool is the Stoney Creek Lodge which is very nice but runs around $100. My brother's family stays there. I've always felt comfortable using a 1* bid as a re-bid for a 2* when bidding small towns. I wouldn't do it in a big city but it's never failed me in small towns. The only time I've been accepted for 1* was for a Fairfield and it was clearly under-rated and has since been re-classified as a 2*. In Quincy, I think the only other likely possibility is the 2* Comfort Inn. Thanks for letting me know about the higher requirement. The Lakeview Restaurant right next to the Fairfield is pretty nice. Have fun - and watch the NBC affiliate there :) PS - "thereuare" does the title maintenance; my mis-spellings keep him busy
  21. $45 is a great deal. I'm going there next month - did you get a rejection at $40? I think this Fairfield is a little better than average. The breakfast offerings seem more extensive than others. Also, I frequently have to stay there at holidays because of overflow of family and they frequently do little nice things for guests - a Christmas stocking and an Easter basket on the door handle in the morning are nice surprises I've received there. Have a great trip!
  22. Hi - Welcome to BetterBidding. I Priceline Quincy a couple of times a year and it's pretty set in stone that the 2* Fairfield requires a $40 (not even $39) bid. There's a 3* Holiday Inn there but I've never seen it come up on PL. Small towns frequently require a higher bid than cities. Fun fact - my sister is the local news anchor in Quincy. Good luck!
  23. I think California as it is now is perfect. Two clicks and you have just the PL hotels for SF (which, by the way, already seems to be a pretty comprehensive list for that city). DeltaPurser's divisions for CA and FL seem pretty logical. And the rationale for not using the Search function is exactly right - the feeling that because of a different spelling or whatever, you could be missing a useful posts makes this new realignment of posts a great move. Thanks!
  24. In practice, lots of re-bids available when bidding this low for 3* in SF. Tried up to $34 and rejected (got an $8 counter at $32) and then accepted at the "usual" rate of $35. Used SavingsBarn.com Congratulations, you got your price of $35 for a 3-star hotel room. Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport San Francisco Airport (SFO) 1333 Bayshore Highway Burlingame, California 94010 650-347-1234 Check-In Date: Fri, Jun 25, 2004 Check-In Time: After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Wed, Jun 30, 2004 Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM Your Offer Price: $35.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 5 Subtotal: $175.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $31.26 Total Charges: $206.26
  25. $35 rejected with no counteroffer. $37 accepted. Used SavingsBarn. Their web rate is $169. Congratulations, you got your price of $37 for a 3-star hotel room. Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles Los Angeles Airport (LAX) 6101 West Century Boulevard Los Angeles, California 90045 310-642-1111 Check-In Date: Wed, Jun 9, 2004 Check-In Time: After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Sat, Jun 12, 2004 Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM Your Offer Price: $37.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $111.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $22.36 Total Charges: $133.36
