  1. Have known for months that I needed (er, wanted) a room for Friday night the 29th. Did some bidding weeks ago, up to $80, no bites. Earlier this week tried a number of combinations of 4-star and 3-star in the NMA zone with prices between $75 and $85, also no luck. Today I put in 4* $90 and got this on the first try. In retrospect, perhaps I should have started lower, but I am out of time for messing around as it is for tonight. The Wyndham is absolutely perfect, as it is one block away from a party that I am throwing for Australian Rules Football. This board is a great resource and I am thrilled to have this inside information. Thanks to all for contributing. Dan
  2. After being accepted at $41 for my cousin, I tried it for myself. I needed two nights and thought $40 would be accepted, and it was. I'm quite pleased.
  3. My cousins and I (most of them from St Louis) are having a gathering in KC this weekend, and being familiar with Priceline, I offered to help secure hotel rooms. Got this for Saturday night only, accepted on first bid. Thanks to this great resource for bidding tips!
  4. Tried this earlier in the week at $45 and $50, bids failed. Got an email after the 72 hours had elapsed, so I tried $50 again and got it. Harvey's is a great hotel and I am eagerly anticipating this ski trip! Thanks to everyone here at betterbidding for running this great board!
  5. Tried $20 for a standard, declined. Tried $22 for a full-size, accepted with National. Hertz was wanting $55/day for my usual gold service. Usually I rent on weekends, and during the week they price themselves out of my business. I was thrilled to get $22 for a full-size -- this is for a ski trip at Lake Tahoe, and I'm sure the rear will have split folding seats allowing our skis to fit easily.
  6. Yes, the Union Sqare West zone isn't that large, and the seven block walk won't be a very big deal. It was my first bid -- I had seen reports of people getting four-star properties in that price range, and I was definitely willing to go up to $80 if denied at $70. Of course, it's my nature to second-guess myself, so I'm wondering if a bid of $60 or $65 would have been accepted. Regardless, this looks like a great property, and the price I got ($166 after taxes and fees for two nights) is very satisfactory.
  7. I'm attending a conference at the Hilton, so I tried 4* USW hoping to get it, and got this instead. It's a six-block walk downward from the Renaissance to the Hilton, which is quite bearable, and perhaps I can take a cable car up on occasion. In any event, I'm thrilled to have this hotel at this price in my favorite American city. Thanks to everyone here at betterbidding who posts to and maintains this wonderful resource.
  8. Tried a few bids on Priceline, all denied, so I went to Hotwire. It was my first Hotwire purchase, and I'm rather pleased with the result. The hotel was asking for $127 before taxes. This purchase is $95.95 after taxes.
  9. Got this on the first try. I was originally going to start at $28 and then add Oak Brook for $30, and I had that number in my noodle when I typed in the bid offer. Silly me. Still, this is a very good deal. Thanks to everyone here for helping me save money!
  10. My sister-in-law and her family are driving from southern Georgia to Chicago to see us. I suggested they stop for the night in/near Nashville, and she allowed me to make a bid for her. Thrift is important to her, and she's thrilled to have this property at this price. Grand total was $34.70 after taxes and fees. I now realize I should have bid $24 first, but this is obviously still a great deal. Thanks to everyone here at betterbidding!
  11. Coworker is visiting Chicago and scored the Hyatt near our office for $36. It was his first Priceline bid, and he's quite happy. This is my first post here and I look forward to continued use of betterbidding.com.
