  1. I won the Andaz Wall Street for $100 ($128.97 after taxes and fees) during a 4/8/11 - 4/9/11 stay through PRICELINE This was by far the best hotel I have won through PRICELINE. Everything is brand new, the hotel staff is very nice and there are many many complimentary items. Also the rooms, bathroom, lighting is much cooler than anything I have gotten through PRICELINE New York. Hope to stay here again! EDIT: 4* NYC (Downtown-Soho-Financial District) Andaz Wall Street
  2. Just used PRICELINE to win the Affinia Shelburne for $100 ($129.28 after taxes and fees). Also, I bid the same day I needed the room. Thanks!
  3. Thanks for the help! Congratulations, your price of $110 was accepted by Loews Regency Hotel through PRICELINE Total was $141.04 so it was under my budget :)
  4. Hi I'm looking to stay in NYC from 3/18 - 3/19. I know this is last minute but I was hoping to find a 4* in Chelsea OR Downtown - SoHo - Financial District OR Empire State Building OR Hells Kitchen OR Midtown East OR Midtown West OR Times Square - Theatre District OR Central Park South areas for a max of $160 after tax. So I am guess my max bid would go up to $135. Thanks for all the help!
  5. Just used PRICELINE to win the Affinia Dumont for $105 ($135.21 after taxes and fees). Also, I bid the same day I needed the room. Next cheapest 4 star on HOTWIRE seemed like the Smyth TriBeCa for $126 ($158.12 after taxes and fees).
  6. Just won a room at the 3.5* Club Quarters, World Trade Center during 2/19 - 2/20 for $88 ($114.92 after taxes) by using the PRICELINE link provided by this forum.
  7. I won for $95 ($123.59 after tax) at 3.5* Hudson, A Morgans Original I have definitely gotten better deals than this in the past, I guess it was just bad timing... Thanks for all the help.
  8. Did not have much luck, was rejected at every level. I guess we need to move down to the 3.5*? Also can we leave Downtown area OUT of the strategy? I am worried that Club Quarters will accept the bid, and I definitely do not want to stay there. Thanks.
  9. Yes I want the highest rated hotel within my budget. But if you believe $120 total is too low for a 4* then I won't bother trying...Downtown I will pay an extra $15. Thanks. Searching for New York City on HOTWIRE seems to be dead for me.
  10. Could you tell us how much the total was after taxes and fees? Thanks!
  11. No I am still getting that error, very weird...I'll try again later tonight. I just figured out that when searching for New York City that error comes up. I tried New Haven, CT and Panama City, FL and HOTWIRE was working fine. Yes I know the city pretty well and will be dining and doing a few activities downtown, so that is why I was hoping to stay there. And the least expensive zone while maximizing stars is the most important. I do not care if its a 3.5 or 4* as long as its within the budget. I am willing to pay more for a 4* but again if its within the budget. My previous bid was $90 Downtown because that was pretty close to maxing out my budget and the highest stars possible...so I guess the goal is the least expensive hotel while maximizing the stars. Does that make sense? Thanks for all the help so far!
  12. Nope, got rejected for a $65 bid for a 3* hotel in the MTE zone :) Also figured out that $90 bid will equal about $117 after taxes...and I got rejected for a $90 bid for a 4* in the Downtown zone Update: Still receiving the error message on HOTWIRE
  13. Did you click on See All for the amenities? If so then I would have to say it probably is the Club Quarters Downtown.
  14. This is a bit hard for me to answer because I'm not sure how much the taxes exactly are. I was hoping to pay $120 after taxes, so maybe 105 max bid (before taxes). Yes, I guess that is acceptable because I'm not sure how successful I will be at the 4* level given the tight budget. If you believe there is a good chance then I'll go for the 4*. I would love the downtown area. Thanks. Also HOTWIRE has been giving me an Error (We're sorry, but we were temporarily unable to complete your search. However, we should be able to find you results if you retry your search.) since yesterday. Is anyone else having issues?
  15. Hi, I am looking to book a hotel through priceline (used the bb search links!). Either a 3.5 or 4* hotel for 2/12 - 2/13. As of now the Sheraton Tribeca New York Hotel (3.5*) is available for $119 (before tax) on PL. I am pretty open to the neighborhoods: CPS, Chelsea, Downtown, ESB, HK, MSG, Midtown E, Midtown W, TS My budget is $120 after tax (obviously the cheaper the better) and would love to stay in the Downtown area. Would love to minimize price and maximize stars. What should be my bidding strat? Again I don't mind if its a 3.5 or 4* as long as its within the budget. Thanks!
  16. Thanks for the strategy! Worked like a charm, as usual :) I bid $100 for HK, TS, Chelsea, ESB and won it at the Affinia Shelburne...total charges: $128.47
  17. CPS Chelsea Area Downtown - SOHO... ESB HK MSG MTE MTW TS Thanks!
  18. Hi, I'm trying to stay in NYC for 12/10 - 12/11. I am open to staying anywhere EXCEPT Brooklyn, Coney Island, UES, UWS, LIC I'm looking for the best deal at a 3.5 or 4 star hotel. Whichever ends up being cheaper is fine with me. I was hoping to do this for $200 and under after all taxes and fees. The lowest rate I found on Hotwire for a 3.5* is $203.....$250.46 after fees The lowest rate I found on Kayak/Hotels.com is the Affinia Dumont for $200.....$233.22 after fees What strategy should I use to start bidding? Thanks!
  19. I was just messing around on PRICELINE and started at 130 and was immediately accepted by the Millennium Hilton in Downtown NYC. Total Charges: $164.92. Thanks!
  20. Hey everyone, I'm looking to get a room in NYC on 12/18 checking out 12/19...I was thinking a 4* because of 5 re-bid zones, I could do a 3.5* which I think has 3 re-bid zones. Just seems like more re-bid zones = a chance at getting a better deal, am I wrong? Hotwire lowest price: 4* ($190, total 235.20) 3.5* ($159, total $199.25)....my budget is $200. What strategy should I use?

    NYC to GRU

Actually I'll do opaque if savings are 30% + Thanks!

    NYC to GRU

Right now I just did a kayak search 12/19 - 12/30: best price $1374 (Total Airfare: $1,153; Airfare taxes and fees: $220.69) 12/20 - 1/2: best price $1834 (Total Airfare: $1524; Airfare taxes and fees: $310.44) I don't think an opaque purchase would be worth it because some of these layovers are over 14 hours...

    NYC to GRU

I'm looking to go from any airport in NYC to GRU from 12/19 to 12/30 OR 12/20 to 1/2/2011 What is the best way to search for the best deal? If the difference between the two dates is less than $300 then I would prefer 12/20 to 1/2/2011 Thanks.
  24. Congratulations, your price of $180 was accepted by Affinia Dumont Thanks!
