  1. Just checked the Hotwire rates for Aug 1 - Aug 3 and I was able to get the exact same hotel as our previous Hotwire Purchase (Inter-Continental) for $179 each night. This means that for the first two nights of my stay, I am paying $179 and the last two nights of my stay, I am paying $154 for the same hotel. However, if you do a HOTWIRE search for Aug 1 - Aug 5, it's currently still asking for $219 - it seems that there is definite value in splitting up your hotel nights! In this case, we got lucky and will be able to stay at the same hotel (2 reservations).
  2. Just booked 4.5* Boston (Quincy Market-Financial District) Inter-Continental, at $154 for two nights Aug 3 - Aug 4 2008. Amenities listed: Restaurant, Fitness Center, Pool, Spa, Laundry, Hi-Speed Internet, Business Center. Would've preferred to book it for 4 nights from Aug 1 - Aug 4, but beggars can't be choosers...Hotwire currently has it available for $219 (I've also seen it listed for $226 every so often). Instead, I have a cancel-able reservation through Quikbook at the Lenox (4* Back Bay - Copley Square) for $207/night for Aug 1 - Aug 3 until I can find something comparable at a better price. I've also been bidding on Priceline the last week or so for a 4* hotel in Quincy Market or Copley Square using the three rebid zones: Brighton-Brookline, Medford - Sommerville, and South Boston. I've been bidding in $10 increments ranging from $140 - $180 for the 4 nights but to no avail.
