  1. Have you even looked? The best way to get a great rate is to be an informed bidder or buyer. On that note, there are two sections you should read. The questions and suggestions section has Priceline FAQs. The General Hotwire Tips section has Hotwire FAQs. These two sections can help you figure out how to make the sites work for you. Once you have some more specific questions, I'm sure the wise people here can answer them.
  2. Here are amenities: Free Parking Free Breakfast Free Internet Pet friendly Indoor pool(s) Smoke Free Rooms Pool(s) Laundry Facilities (self-service) Accessible for the blind Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Timing is everything. We're heading up early for the Highland Games and once the weekend hits, the rooms here go up to $150!! Used BB HOTWIRE link.
  3. BTW - This trip was cancelled. I was glad that I had booked through the LMT club (Grand Hyatt for $94 a night) because I could cancel it. If I had done HW, I would have been left holding the bag. Thanks for your help, though.
  4. Sometimes HW ratings are weird. Generally, I would not classify a Days Inn as a 3* or a Quality Inn as a 2.5* either. Not too interested in that 2.5, so I guess I'll keep looking .... Thanks, though.
  5. Am wondering if you can help with that 2.5* on same date. Price is $48. 4/5 on TA. 85% HW approval rate. Checking for 2 adults, 2 kids. Amenities are: Free parking, breakfast, internet, fitness, pool, business center, hi-speed internet. I'm guessing it's the Country Inn & Suites, but I am not positive. Used BB HOTWIRE links to search, per usual.
  6. Not sure how a Days Inn qualifies as a 3* so I can't say I'm really interested. There is a 2.5* that might interest me more than that. It is early, though, so I don't need to jump yet. Will let you know what we decide. Thanks for your help.
  7. Wondering if anyone has ideas on this one. Could use some help, please! Amenities include breakfast, free internet, business center and high speed internet access. HW approval rating is 95%. No TA rating. Rate is $54 for 2 adults, 2 kids. Thanks.
  8. Circling back again. How about an ID for 6/21-6/23, 4* Hotel in the White House/Downtown zone? Amenities are pet friendly, smoke free, fitness, restaurant, business center, internet. When you search for 2 people, it's $89. Search for 4 and it's $109. Any ideas? Thanks.
  9. I also tried with 3 adults or 2 adults/2 kids and couldn't find the same listing. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have searched 2 adults because there will be 4 of us. Easy come, easy go, I guess.....
  10. Dates have changed to 6/21-6/23. Am intrigued by this 4* in Capitol Hill/National Mall zone. Searching for 4, as the whole family will be going. Free Internet Pet friendly Boutique Hotel Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Thanks for your assistance.
  11. Our plans are not final, but at this point I have booked the Grand Hyatt through the LMT Club for $94 a night. It's close to the National Mall and looks to be pretty nice. I've been IDing hotels from HOTWIRE and wasn't in love with anything. Can't do PRICELINE because there are 4 of us. If I see something better, I may cancel, but the rate is quite good. Thanks.
  12. I think you're probably right. Not in love with Crowne Plazas, so not so interested. If I need more hotel ID help, should I post here? Thanks.
  13. Hi Guys - Could use some help, please, on the ID of this 3.5* hotel on dates above. It's $84 for 2 people, rate goes up to $105 for 3 or 4 people. Amenities are pet friendly, business, fitness, restaurant, internet, blind accessible, deaf accessible, accessible path of travel, accessible bathrooms, handicapped parking, roll-in shower. Have checked list and cross referenced, but can't figure this one out. Thanks.
  14. Wow, the post title on this needs to change! I thought he bid for $409 per night! Should say $115 as price. BTW - This place gets mixed reviews, but I stayed here and thought it was fine. Possibly even pretty good.
  15. Thanks. On occasion, it's incredibly appropriate. I don't lie down first very often ......
  16. Yes, you can absolutely fight that, and I would if I were you. We have a saying at our house. No one can walk all over you unless you lay down first. So if you have a legitimate beef - and it sounds like you do - go out there and give them some hell!
  17. Thank you haygar. Nice of you to share.
  18. Sir - Sorry this happened, but you cannot blame BetterBidding for what happened to you. The only way to determine for sure if any area is a rebid zone is if you click on the zones and do the work right before you bid. PL can add a 4* hotel in any zone at any time. BB is not in charge of them. To blame this board for your mistake is patently ridiculous. That being said, this sort of thing has happened to me, most recently with an upgraded hotel that I was trying to avoid. You could throw yourself on Priceline's mercy and see if they will take it back and let you try again. They will sometimes do this on a one time basis if you have never asked before. Try it and maybe you will get lucky. If not, it is a shame that this happened and I understand your frustration. But there is no way you can blame it on anyone else. Really.
  19. I found a better way to get what I want with no uncertainty. Liked the Country Inn Midtown that I booked on HW last year, and I discovered they have a Best Rate guarantee. It gives you 25% off the better rate you found on another website. Their site had rooms for over $100, but I found a king suite on Priceline that was $83. I booked their higher rate, then submitted claim form. Net result: The verified the claim and we'll be staying in a two room king suite for $63 a night. Good location, nice people, nice place. Sometimes HW and PL aren't the best way to go. I am happy. (Used the BB link when I was researching PL regular retail....)
  20. Thanks for the info. I still am pretty sure it wouldn't be the BW Central - many websites rate it at a straight 2*. If HW rated it 3*, I would complain like crazy if I landed it. I was thinking this listing might be the Fairfield Inn Midtown, though they currently have a 4* TA rating. Then again, I know the TA ratings may not be real time...... If there is a good chance that this listing is the HI Express, I will probably pass. I can book the HIE on the EntertainmentHotelBucks website straight up for $75, and the fees are probably less. I'm going to check to see if I could cancel that, if necessary. Will keep you posted on what I choose to do, and will use the links here, as usual.
  21. Thank you for your suggestions, but I'd be really surprised if this was the BW Central or the HIExpress. The BW Central rack rate is about $72; the HI Express is $90. For HW to suggest the rack rate @ $135 would be kind of ludicrous. Also pretty sure the HI Express has a pool, and don't think the BW Central would be considered a 3*. Isn't it a 2.5* at best? Anyone have any other ideas?
  22. I'm a bit stumped by this one. Could use some help, please. Amenities are: Free breakfast, free internet, fitness, business center, laundry (self-service), high speed internet, accessible for blind, accessible for deaf, accessible path of travel, in-room accessibility, accessible bathroom, handicapped parking, roll-in shower. Price is $75, with a regular rack rate suggested @ $135. TA rating is 3.5/5. Recommended by 75% of Hotwire customers. Anything else needed for ID, please let me know. Thanks.
  23. This was a major coup. It's right where we need to be and it's the exact hotel I had already booked conventionally through the Hyatt website for $107. I could find it for no lower anywhere else. Until this listing came along on HW. Amenities were, as posted previously: Breakfast, Smoke free, fitness, pool, business center, laundry, high speed internet access, golf nearby, tennis nearby. TA rating was 5/5, HW customers gave it 100% approval. Used BB HOTWIRE link, as usual. Very happy with this purchase. :D
  24. By way of followup - stayed at the Crowne Plaza on Saturday night and it was fine. Not sure what all the fuss was about. Room was well appointed, fitness room was better than average, swam laps in the indoor pool and shuttle was on time. Not a bad stay by any stretch of the imagination. Don't know why reviews are so polarized, but my experience was a good one.
