ahh.... thanx for pointing out the calendar. :) Looks like a new feature... missed the link under the ads.
Looks pretty good...
I thought I used BB Expedia's link but went/back forth so many times... who knows
Now that I have Sat/Sun booked... actually might still priceline a hotel now for Friday only... we will see (I have flexible travel there)
Saturday Goo Goo Dolls @ the Palms :)
now .... what show to see Sunday night? hmmm....
update...
I spent to much time, trying to save what, $10... or maybe $15? & maybe switching hotels... sigh
I just booked the whole trip via Expedia w/$50 coupon I had saved.... rather than spend more time... this kinda sucked me in.
Expedia keeps giving me more & more coupons... its crazy but they really suck you in
thx BB ... I like this site... maybe someday a calander option with reported wining bids?
I dont have an update for that Chicago bid yet.... still in progress... :)
As for my budget for Vegas, I've bid up to $135 so far just for Saturday night without luck. (that's the # I put into the bid before taxes & resort fees collected later of course)
I was hoping to get lucky... but so far no dice.
max for a 5 star would be 150
I actually would prefer paying around $100 for a 4 but dont want to end up at the Hilton... and not excited by Luxor... sigh
might just give up & do Expedia for the whole trip... way too much time spent to save just a few dollars
When bidding on PRICELINE for 4* does anyone get these hotels that are HOTWIRE? (they are listed in PRICELINE)
Las Vegas (near Strip East)
4* Hilton
4* Renaissance
4* Westin Casuarina
I know things change all the time... but my guess is BB would have Vegas info pretty dialed in?
Need help/suggestions for my strategy finding a room mainly for Saturday, June 5th. It appears Sunday night will be little to no problem but will a better deal be found/accepted if I include that night? (I was thinking of doing it separately via Expedia w/a $50 coupon I have although I know some hotels will not let me just book Sunday... aka Hard Rock) On a related note, if I have one night booked via Priceline & another via Expedia for the same hotel, they dont make you double check in/out?
In order of basically the rooms I'm want, I'm planning a bidding strategy based on the following list below. Oddly, its basically in the order of hotel I would prefer that is available on Priceline. Am I forgetting any locations that I should seriously consider? Right now I have shyed away from Trump but might include it. Have 2 accounts for bidding, mine & my gf.
Yes I have seen that new LV resort fee nonsense... whatever & I do kinda understand the 10 bid stragtegy if looking for that 5* first.
Now for that Saturday night.... the real question is, what is going to be that magical price? ideas?

Am I being unfair? not seriously including/considering the: (just not sure old town is for me but it has been 4-5 years since Ive been to Vegas)
Las Vegas (Fremont Street Vicinity)
4* Golden Nugget
Of course I always use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to start my process here. :)
My plan of attack is:
every 24 hours + 1 min give or take
Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area
1st bid: $$
* 4
2nd bid: $$ + 1 dollar
* 4
* 3 1/2
(MAYBE)
3rd bid: $$ + 2 dollars
* 4
* 3 1/2
* 3
What do you think? Of course use the PRICELINE link from betterbidding
So far I haven't got a bite but I might toy around with this for a while + my $ amount
Maybe I'll add a night and that might help?
a penny for anyones thoughts?
How often can you bid on priceline if you dont change 2 things?
Once every 24 hours or once every day? (not having to wait 24 hours total?)
& what about the 3* hotels? what range do you think they usually pick up in this area during anytime of the year?
Looking for a room near Grant Park & trying to see if Priceline/Hotwire is even going to be worth trying for during:
Friday, August 6th to Monday, August 9th, 2010 ?
Lollapalooza dates
I bid via the BB PRICELINE link for $60 on a 4 star & of course got denied, figure it was worth a few weeks/months of lowballs but I wonder where/when the sweetspot will pop up
No, I do NOT want a room outside of the Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area / Zone
Hotwire has this 3 star for $155:
3* La Quinta Inn and Suites
Amenities: Complimentary Breakfast, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry
any thoughts? suggestions?
there list price was $119, so there is a little bit of a deal
I should have used HOTWIRE. I even said I was going to! O well... live & learn all for $14 savings.
I did Priceline $70 *4 & got
hilton chicago 720 south michigan avenue
NOT the Palmer House Hilton! dammit! I really didn't think this one though...
for $14, I should have used Hotwire! I even pointed that one out myself! <sigh> Maybe it isn't a bad hotel... whatever
Of course I used the PRICELINE link from here...
$84 on HOTWIRE for Chicago Loop Hotel on Friday 12/18/2009
Amenities: Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business (Pool NOT listed)
- What chance do you think it is the Palmer House? (its preferred)
- If I use PRICELINE, it seems $70 bids the previous weekends have yielded the Palmer House although it seems like a greater list of hotels are sucking up 4* in the Loop. For $14, I would rather roll the dice on Hotwire's 50/50.
prices listed on hotels website
Palmer $139
W $109
What do you think, is it the Palmer House on HOTWIRE right now or the W?
Hotel Monaco
1st & only Bid of $100 accepted, (Millenium-Loop-Grant Park) I didn't want to mess around & had a feeling it would get picked up because of info read on this forum.
I thought it would have been Palmer House Hilton, kinda hopped for the Hard Rock but Hotel Monaco was rather nice. The view from the window was bad & the noisy ice machine was right outside my room but couldn't beat the price. I bet I could have went back down to the desk & asked for another room but didn't bother... The NRA (National Restaurant Association) is having there BIG show in town (last year was like 71,000 people) so this was a very good deal on the room. The NRA "special" rate was like $230/night or something, I think.
O, I did try and check in early 8AM (I showed up 3 hours after reservation made on priceline), & had a feeling they didn't let me do it ONLY because it was a priceline reservation. No big deal, I checked my bag with the bellhop & off to the show I went. Overall staff/service at Hotel Monaco was really nice.
Thanks betterbidding.com!
Has the Bellagio been on Hotwire lately?
Is High Speed Internet Access the difference from the Vet? (cuz it's available in the room these days)
or just the customer favorite link? :)
It would be great to know...
both Hyatt properties are sold out for the weekend.
Does that happen and they still get listed on Hotwire? :)
Is it normal policy for the hotel to sometimes list Casino sometimes not? Not sure if I wannta chance ending up in California :)
