  1. Star level 4 up to $150...I know that's low, but I'm hoping to get a great deal. There's still lots of time and if I don't win a PRICELINE bid I'll go with something on HOTWIRE or PRICELINE EXPRESS. I've gotten surprisingly great deals using your bidding suggestions in the past so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for NYC. Will try bidding again tonight....I have the luxury of being flexible with my dates (ie 11/11-11/13 or even two nights beginning either 11/4 or 11/5) so wish me luck!

  2. I've been bidding on 4 star properties but no luck yet. Still hoping to ID other hotels.

Now there's a 3 star for $145 on PRICELINE EXPRESS in Empire State Building area that only shows fitness center. Rated 8 out of 10.

    On Hotwire in Midtown Central there's a 3 star for $155 that's 85% recommended.

    Free internet

    pool(s)

    internet access

    fitness center

    restaurant(s)

    Can you ID these?

  3. Here ya' go...a new hotel to add to the Amsterdam list...Hotel Pulitzer! The funny thing is, I was whining to my bro-in-law that I was having no luck bidding on properties in Amsterdam and he suggested I book a room at the Pulitzer, his favorite Amsterdam hotel. I went to their site for my dates and it was 344 Euros a night so I decided to keep plugging away on Priceline. Yesterday they accepted my offer of $168.00 per night and I was so surprised (but delighted) to see this hotel pop up. Glad to use the BetterBidding link and thank you for the tips that made my win possible!

  4. Well, when I first began this Amsterdam search, others had gotten rooms in the $75 to $95 range. But I have now been bidding for days and am up to $120 and getting rejection after rejection so I need to look at some alternatives. Truth be told, I'm not such a fancy lady. For 2 nights all we really need is a clean and safe hotel near a tram stop. Sure, a four or five star rated property would be wonderful but so far I'm not having much luck. Of course, I still have plenty of time but need to explore my options. Priceline (and Betterbidding) hasn't let me down yet so I'm hoping something will soon come through on NYOP!

  5. Used every appropriate rebid zone for the 4* hotels, then signed out and rebid again this time searching for 3.5* hotels. Did this in $1 and/or $2 dollar increments for the past three days. At $88 I was told I should add $20 (I think) to my bid but I just kept plodding along a buck at a time. Weird thing was that today I got several pop up messages from Priceline telling me to wait a few minutes and click on the "Check My Offer Status" button to see if my most recent bid was accepted. This happened 5 times and they finally accepted my offer after the 6th time. I tried contacting several hotels directly and many hotels were already booked for this weekend or very, very expensive so I'm pleased with my win...and the location is perfect for our needs. I am so grateful for the great tips and information I get at BetterBidding, so it was my pleasure to use the PRICELINE link above. Toronto here we come!

  6. The only better location than the Intercontinental for a trip to see the Jays would be the Renaissance, which is actually part of the Rogers Centre. The IC Toronto Centre is a very nice hotel, is a 3 minute walk to the game, and for $2 cheaper than the HI Midtown, is a GREAT deal!!

Thanks for your assistance, thereuare. I ended up getting the Intercontinental using Priceline and will write up my win on that forum. We've had some mobility issues this year so, thanks, robteb, for letting me know that we're in easy walking distance to the park. My hubby is on a quest to get to every major league ball park and we are now in the home stretch!

  7. Planning this Toronto baseball trip is making my head spin. Priceline lists Toronto downtown as North and South but Hotwire lists hotels as being in Toronto East and West...wth??? We're coming in for a ball game so would like to be near Rogers Centre. I could use assistance in IDing the following 2 hotels for 6/19/10 to 6/21/10:

Downtown Toronto West area Hotel - 4*- $113

    Fitness center

    Pool

    Restaurant

    Business center

    High speed internet

    SPA

    Downtown Toronto West area Hotel - 3* - $115

    smoke free

    restaurant

    laundry facilities

    High speed internet

    Tennis nearby

    Thanks in advance!

  8. Priceline shows the following 3 areas in Baltimore North:

    #1) Baltimore North/White Marsh

    #2) Hunt Valley/Timonium

    #3) Towson

I would like to stay at the Marriott Hunt Valley Inn which is listed on Better Bidding's hotel list as a 3.5* property. Yet, when I click on the #2 area it does NOT list a 3.5* option. Is the Hunt Valley Inn no longer considered to be a 3.5 star property for Priceline's name your own price? Your assistance will be greatly appreciated.

  9. Thanks, thereuare. I did use the search box to re-access PRICELINE. I was just annoyed that I had to close my browser at all and couldn't understand why Priceline didn't offer any way to return to the bidding screen so I could up my bid. Believe me, these little annoyances are well worth it once I get a winning bid! I discovered this board last year and so appreciate the help and support I have gotten here. I tell everyone I know to use Betterbidding as it has been an invaluable tool for our travel planning...many, many thanks for all you do!
