  1. I returned yesterday from my stay at the Delta Centre Ville -- the hotel was great, despite the reviews I had seen on TripAdvisor. I had one of their renovated rooms on the 15th floor with a very comfortable king bed and the room was sizeable. The clerk who checked me in was extremely polite and accommodating. The plumbing/fixtures in the bathroom were a bit dated and it is obvious that the hotel is a few years (decades...) old but it is very well maintained and the location was excellent, with underground access to the Metro. For $75/night, certainly no complaints. I have posted a longer review of this hotel, with pictures, on TripAdvisor HERE
  2. Well, spoke a little too soon -- I posted yesterday about not being able to get a 4* in downtown Montreal at $100, but this afternoon had a $95 bid accepted with Le Centre Sheraton Montreal. Started bidding two days ago from $80 - $100. Used the PRICELINE link here with Bonus Reward dollars -- so bid $90 + $5 bonus for $95/night. Taxes were $57.35 and total charge was $327.35 (US). I wanted to place some requests for the room so I called their reservations line -- the first person who answered told me because I made the booking on Priceline he couldn't place any requests. So I called back again and spoke with another representative who was able to put the request in for me -- although I have my doubts. We'll see on check-in! AL
  3. I've tried twice for a 4* in Montreal for September 15 - 18, 2008 (Monday - Thursday), starting at $80/night, up to $100/night, but no luck. I've seen others getting 4* in the $80-$95 range. I've also looked at hotel sites independently and they seem to have very little availability for that period. I've even tried 3* up to $90/night with no luck. Anyone know if something particular is going on in the city at that time? Have been bidding with Bonus Cash rewards, not sure if that makes a difference. Using the PRICELINE links here. Will keep posted when/if I get a room through PRICELINE, but would be helpful if anyone knows why Montreal is so booked at the time? Thanks AL
  4. Hi all -- I will be travelling with a family member to Montreal in September, looking for a 3* or 4*. Thing is, the family member is a smoker and we'll need a room where smoking is permitted. How have others dealt with this? I've used Priceline before and called hotels to make requests after booking -- but are there hotels on Priceline for Montreal that are completely non-smoking? Thanks for your help, in advance AL
  5. This is my second time using PRICELINE for Montreal. Have been bidding $50 - $75 for 3*+ over past week or so (and up to $80 for 4* only) and won the Delta Centre Ville for $75. With taxes, comes to about $90/night. I used the PRICELINE links here for my bidding. Started today at $75 when I got the Delta; kicking myself for not starting lower this time, but I've had no movement on lower amounts for the past week. The Centre Ville has very mixed reviews according to Trip Advisor, but will see what happens. Would like to hear from anyone who has stayed there before, or if anyone gets it lower for a similar time! My first time with Priceline Montreal got me the Hyatt Regency for $70/night (before tax), which was great. But that was also in April, not August! -AL
