  1. I am tryng to identify the followiing hotel located in Riverwalk North and Alamo: 4 star, Boutique, No Smoking, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business ser. Hi speed internet. Recommended bly 80 percent. This is for Aug 11, through Aug. 13th. Is this possibly the Emily Morgan?
  2. The Marriott was everything a Marriott is expected to be, clean, newly renovated, large rooms with king bed, sofa and chair plus work area. The restaurant was reasonably priced and quite good for breakfast. Check in went very smoothly, with a slight upgrade. Valey parking was extremely efficient. A quick phone call and the car was outside the door by the time we got there. I definitely recommend this hotel Chattanooga itself is a great, clean, modern city. The aquarium is a must see and is fantastic. The ride on the Tennessee Valley Raliroad Museum steam engined train was scenic and pleasant. A very freindly and helpful manager of National Tire and Battery was able to replace our expensive, self sealing Continental, that did not self seal. This was accomplished under the warranty at a total cost of 10 dollars for tax. Porters in the Sheraton Read House is excellent, if a bit pricey. Food is great and plentiful, atmosphere is very clubby, and the service is perfect.
  3. Can anyone help in identifying this hotel? It is priced at $87.00 for one night, 5/28. Amenities are: Shuttle Fitness Center Pool Restaurant Busintss Center Hi-speed internet
  4. Well, after all of that, I got the Marriott Convention Center at 70 dollars a night through PRICELINE. May 16 through May 19th, 2009. After much deliberation I wanted either that or the Sheraton Read House and the Marriott came up first. Thanks for all the help. I will post a review after thestay.
  5. Uh-Oh, I hate to be a pest, but I just looked at the Delta Queen. That looks like just the place for us. Do you know much about it: Food, entertainment, amenities, transportation, etc? I don't know if it available through Hotwire, but it seems to be reasonably priced. Is it in a fairly accessible area? Any info will help. By the way, so far we have been able to resist the ubiquitous signs for Ruby Falls and Rock City. Mostly because I believe they entail entering a cave, and we are both claustrophobic. Thanks again for any info.
  6. I am interested in your hometown. Over the last 8 years or so we have driven between the midwest and Florida at least 28 times, and only once did we stop in the Chattanooga area, and that was to see Lookout Mt. and Chickamauga Battlefield where my wife's great grandfather was captured by the Confederate Army during the battle. I appreciate your help, and we have pretty much dediced on the Chattanoogan, but since we both enjoy old, historic hotels I am curious about the Read House. Can you tell us much about it, including what the area is like, and what is in the area? Which would be better as far as proximity to restaurants and attractions? I will read your review. We will be spending 2 or 3 nights there. We are retired so time is not an important issue.
  7. I gather from your post, and from a post by you in another thread that you would not recommend the Chattanooga Choo-Choo. As a bit of a train buff it appeals to me, especially the victorian rail car rooms. However it is not worth it if the place is run-down and less than a good place to stay. I understand from another of your posts that the Choo-Choo may be about to undergo a renovation and a change of hands. Can you verify this? Also, if you would be so kind, can you recommend restaurants near the Chattanoogan, and do you have any opinion as to the quality of the restaurants in the Choo-Choo? I also would ask if the Choo-choo is interesting as a stand alone attraction? I assume that the squarium is a top attraction. We will probably only have one full day there.
  8. Planning on a short getaway in Chattanooga enroute home from the Midwest, May 16 through May 19. HOTWIRE shows a 4 astar hotel with shuttle, fitness, pool, restaurant, hi-speed internet, business, spa. I see the Chattanoogan lised in Betterbidding.com as a 3.5 star. Is it likely that Hotwire's listing is for the Chattanoogan and that the star ratings have changed? Does anyone know how convenient the Chattanoogan is to attractions like the Aquarium and the Chattanooga Choo-Choo and the Tennessee Valley Railrod museum? Thanks for any help.
  9. I would like to identify the Hyatt/Sarasota Bradenton Airport. Does anyone have information?
  10. We did decide to skp Memphis. We will be in New Orleans and St. Louis for 3 days each enroute to Chicago, where we will spend several weeks. We are snowbirds on the way north. That is too much big sity. We will spend 2 days exploring Mississippi and Arkansas instead. Thanks for all the help. We did get what we wanted in St. Louis at a good rate.
  11. I agree that Le Pavillion would be a great deal at that price, and the next time we go to New Orleans we will try to book it. This time however, we wanted to stay in the French Quarter, and none of the available properties on HOTWIRE, at least as of yesterday were what we wanted. We did book the Boubon Orleans at a very competitive rate through a website of New Orleans hotels.
  12. I booked the 3.5 * through your HOTWIRE link, and yes it was the Sheraton. Now if only the baseball crowd doesn't get too noisy. FYI, We did decide not to go to Memphis, and are currently looking at some other ideas between New Orleans and St. Louis for a couple of days. I also booked the Bourbon Orleans Hotel in New Orleans directly at a pretty good rate. I wanted to stay there and Hotwire did not seem to be offering that property. Thanks for the help. I will review the hotel when we return.
  13. The 3* does also show a restaurant. Is that then the Millenium? I will bid shortly on the 3.5 *, and I will let you know the results.
  14. Plans now firm Hotwire lists following for St. Louis Downtown 20 through 23 July 4* $106/night Boutique, Fitness, Restaurant, Business Center, H.S. Internet. Omni Majestic? 3.5 * $84/night Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, H.S. Internet. Crowne Plaza? 3* $54/night Fitness, Pool, Business Center, H.S. Internet Millenium? Any best guesses appreciated. I will be booking through your HOTWIRE link,.
  15. Plans now firm, although we may skip Memphis. Interested in following hotels, 18 thru 20 July: 4* $139/night Boutique, Smoke Free, Fitness Ctr, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, H>S. Internet, Spa. Presumably still the Peabody. 3.5 * $89/night Fitness, Pool Restaurant, Business, H.S. Internet, Crowne Plaza? 3* $89/night Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, H.S. Internet. Doubletree?
  16. Plans ar now finalized. We will be in New Orleans 15 thru 18 July, Memphis 18 thru 20 July and St. Louis 20 thru 23 July. I will post requests for StL, and Mem in the appropriate fourms. For New Orleans: Hotwire lists the following: 4 * $76/night French Quearter Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, H.S. Internet, Laundry Facility. This sounds like the Sastor Crowne Plaza. 3* French Quarter, $58/night-Restaurant. I have no clue which hotel theis is and would like to know. I would like a best guess as to both hotels. Thanks
  17. I am trying to work out details. I am going to St. Louis on, or very close to those dates. I also intend to stop in New Orleans and/or Memphis. The dates I am using are just are the dates that I want to be in St. Louis, and the others will have to work around that. I will be purchasing, through your link at least in St. Louis when I get some direction as to the hotels I have listed. I will update after I make bookings.
  18. For booking July 21 to July 24, 2008 4* 106/night Boutique Fitness Center Restaurant Business Center High Speed Internet Probably Omni Majestic? 3.5 * 84/night Fitness Pool Restaurant Business High Speed Internet Probably Sheraton? 3* 53/night Fitness Pool Restaurant Business High Speed Internet Probably Millenium? I know there are no guarantees, but does it look like I am correct. It appears that prices are a bit high for those dates, but I assume that is because the Cardinals are home those dates. Does anyone also know if any of the above hotels, again assuming that I am correct, are any worse for noise, partying fans, etc on baseball evenings? Any help appreciated., and I will use the HOTWIRE link to bid.
  19. No opinions yet. I wonder if anyone can tell me if a 4.5* Downtown New Orleans Hotel $89/night Showing Fitness, pool restaurant, business and high speed internet, is most likely Le Pavillion. This is for July 17 thrugh July 19. Thanks for any info.
  20. Planning on a couple of nights in New Orleans, July 17th through July 19th. I am trying to decide between 4.5 *'s Downtown @ $89, which appears to be Le Pavillion, 4 * DT, which appear to be either Inter-Continental or Hilton St. Charles @$69, or 4 * French Quarter, which appears to be Iberville Suites or Astor Crowne Plaze @ $58. Based on dllar amounts and appparent values I am inclined toward the Le Pavillion. Can anyone make any recommendations about any of these, as to: accessability to tourist areas, restaurants; quality of the hotels etc. We have never been to NO, and would like to sample the nightlife and a couple of the better, well known restaurants. We will be driving, so I guess cost of parking is also a consideration. Suggestions?? Thanks
  21. Thanks for the info. We will use your links when we are ready to bid, but unfortunately our plans are changing slightly. We still plan on stopping in Memphis for a couple of days, but it will be a week or so later. We will also be looking for information on hotels in St. Louis, in the appropriate area of the forum, when our plans are set. Incidentally, I would prefer either of the Marriott properties, Springhill or Residence, I believe in Memphis. Does anyone know if they become available on HOTWIRE? I am pretty sure they can be booked through PRICELINE.
  22. Can anyone help me id the follosing hotels in Memphis Downtown? This is for the 12th of July through the 14th of July 2008 4 * $156/night Boutique Restaurant Fitness Center High Speed Internet Smoke Free Pool Business Center Pool(s) I suspect that this is the Peabody?? 3.5* $94/night Pool Fitness Center Restaurant High Speed Internet Business Center Crowne Plaze?? 3* $97/night Fitness Center Restaurant Pool Business Center High Speed Internet Access Is it possible this may be the Marriott Springhill or Marriott Residence? Either of which would be my choice. Thanks for any help.
