  3. Price.line Win! We initially attempted to land a 4.5-Star room in the Las Colinas - Irving zone. We bid from $60 up to $81 going up in $2. increments with negative results. We then targeted the Omni Dallas Park West Hotel in the Northwest zone. This is an easy play as it is the only 4-Star property in this zone. We began at $60., and went up by a dollar each time for the bid to be accepted at $70. The going rate on Travel.ocity and the hotel's website is $104. Thanks to BB for the great research tools and information. -Buz

  9. I am ashamed to confess that I committed the greatest of all Priceline faux pas: I got the offer on the first bid. The property was bouncing around $70. per night so I started at $65. and got it. The details: Property: Hyatt Regency Baltimore Dates: March 26 to March 28 Rooms: 2 Rooms Price: $65. per night Retail: $152. per night (From their website) Of course, I used the BetterBidding.com PRICELINE link.
  10. Thanks, I wanted a second opinion. I'm relatively certain that the Lansdowne is the one showing for $100. per night which is a great deal for that property. I will post back if I pull the trigger.
  11. Done. (the clicks and searches) Our dates are August 9 to August 14 of 2012.

  13. Success! I've been periodically bidding for Cleveland with no luck until today. I began targeting four-star properties in the downtown and Cleveland Heights zones. I started at $84 and went up in increments of $2. My bid was accepted at $104. for the Intercontinental Suites Cleveland Clinic. I just checked and the hotel is retailing for $199. per night on the same nights. Gotta love Priceline. Thanks for the help and to BB. April 3-6 $104. per night Intercontinental Suites Cleveland Clinic
  14. The saga has ended. Today, I got the Hotel Felix for $88. per night. Right now their website is showing an average daily rate of $137. While I'm a bit disappointed for not getting a killer deal, this is still a good deal, especially for that week which is a Spring Break/Easter week. As far as the bids... First, I put in bids for a 3 1/2 star hotel targeting the MDW zone. I began in $64 and worked up to $76 with no luck. I then closed and re-opened and began bidding four star properties beginning at $74 and working up to $88 where my bid was accepted. Thanks to everyone for you help. BB has become an invaluable resource.
  15. Our bids have reached up to the high 80's. Last year at the same time there were some wins in the 50's so I was hoping we could land a nice deal. As far as location, parking, as with any other large city, will be an issue. Most of our time there will be in and around the Loop/Navy Pier area, so rather than have two families get doubled banged for parking each day, I was hoping to stay in the area. At this point I will probably begin looking at 3.5 Stars.
  16. There's not a very large body of wins for four-star properties in Cleveland from which to gauge prices. I could only find one in the past 18 months or so. I figured I would try and define exactly where the bottom is and work up. Tomorrow I will inch upward. Fortunately, I'm flexible with this trip and may even dip into the 3.5 star range.
  17. No luck, but I tried bidding the following... Two rooms for Cleveland 4 Star beginning with Downtown Cleveland Zone for April 4 to April 7. Began at $78. and worked up in two dollar increments to $94 with no luck.
  18. No luck, but I tried bidding the following... Two rooms for Chicago 4 Star beginning with Millennium Park-Loop-Grant Park Zone. Began at $56. and worked up in two dollar increments to $72 with no luck. Will try again tomorrow.
  19. Interesting post. We usually stick to just 4 star hotels because it is our experience that there is less chance of ending up in a dump. Having said that, we once stayed in the Luxor (when it was a 4 star) which was a complete dump. And, one of our best hotel experiences ever (in value for money) was at a 3 star Courtyard by Marriot in Flagstaff. Our general rule is when we are visiting a city with the purpose of exploring the city, I will do either a 3 or 4 star. If we are visiting a place like Cancun, we shoot for Resort or 5 star if they are going at a good price.
  20. I would love to see a section where members can review and/or let everyone know of a specific zone, region, or state where unusually low bids are being accepted. For instance, there may be a resort level hotel in Cancun, Atlantic City, Orlando, Vegas or wherever accepting $60. bids. For those who have some flexibility with their travel, this would be an invaluable tool.
  21. We were hoping to find a holiday deal in Boston, but no luck. We were tarteting a 4 star hotel from June 30 to July 5. We Bid from $97 up to $115 in increments of $2 or $3. All were rejected. We may try again with 3.5 stars. As always, thanks BB.com :) MODS, i PUT THE WRONG DATE IN THE TITLE AREA. THE CORRECT DATE FOR THE TITLE IS 6/30 TO 7/5.
  22. This is just an insanely priced weekend for AC. I have been bidding on and off for the last two weeks with no luck. Here are my recent bids... 4 Star targeting the AC zone $220 $230 $240 $250 All failed. I stayed in AC last year at a 3.5 star for $22 during a special. I will now start searching in nearby areas, because I'm not paying $300 for a hotel room in AC. Closing out the thread. Good luck to everyone else.
  23. Atlantic City is such a crazy place for hotels. We've actually stayed in 4 star hotels during the week for $35. a night including taxes and fees. Anyway, I bid for one night in a 4 star for Saturday, March 26 and had no hits. 1st Bid $150. 2nd $160. 3rd $170. 4th $180. 5th $190. 6th $200. And, of course, I used the Betterbidding link for PRICELINE to place my bids! As always, thanks BB.com
