  1. Dates of January 08, 2014 to January 14, 2014 in Vancouver, BC, CANADA. Started bidding for Downtown or Granville location 4* hotel at $60/night and increased by $3 increments using multiple re-bid zones. Bid accepted today December 01, 2013.

Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown Hotel (1128 West Hastings Street V6E 4R5)(3.7* google rating)

    1 room / 6 nights

    Offer Price: US$75.00

Room Subtotal: US$450.00 Taxes & Fees: US$87.00 Total Charged to Card: US$537.00

The rack rate from Mariott.com shows the same nights for a cost of CAD $179.00/night Total Cost CAD $1,204.61. Savings are $635.44 which equals almost 53% savings off rack rate. Mind you, I would never pay rack rate for these hotels. My true alternative was a Hotwire 4* hotel listed at CAD $86/night for a total cost of CAD $631.93, which was likely going to be Delta Suites Vancouver (4.1* google rating). So Priceline saved me 10% for my hotel stay, although for a slightly lower user rated hotel. Not too shabby at all.

And of course, I used betterbidding.com's PRICELINE link to start my bidding purchase.

    Best Regards,

    Carbo

  2. So needed to book a weekend visit to Vancouver, BC for September 09-12. Ended up with a nicely located 4* Sheraton Wall Centre in the Granville Entertainment District. Spent two days bidding with 5 re-bid zones each day. Note that I did NOT include Vancouver Downtown zone in my search, because I didn't want to end up with too far West of a hotel such as the Westin Bayshore (which seemed likely).

First day started at $75 and $5 increments. NOTHING

Second day at $96 with $5 increments. First bid had a counteroffer of $128, I rejected it and kept rebidding. DONE AT $116.

Total price was $413.19 USD from Priceline, rack rate on the sheraton website for their cheapest room would have cost $695.31 CAD, so I saved approximately $280! Pretty sweet savings.

Thank you BetterBidding for your information and as always I used BetterBidding's PRICELINE link to start my bidding!

    Cheers,

    Carbo

  3. After searching around and realizing that hotels in Honolulu are quite pricey, we felt Priceline would be our best option for a short 3 day visit. Only wanted Waikiki Beach so we used the 3 free re-bid zones to price search.

Day 1: Bid $105, rejected with counter at $130, until reaching $120 using $5 increments. All rejected.

Day 2: Bid $115, rejected with counter at $145, until reaching $125 using $5 increments. ACCEPTED at $125 per night.

We got Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa located on Waikiki Beach near Kuhio Beach Park. Ranked #22 by TripAdvisor and 85% TripAdvisor Traveler Rating. Although they are going renovations until September, this is a great location and deal for a 4-star accommodation. Rack rate on this same room would be $261.15/night or $783.45 USD total via Hyatt's website. My priceline total was $440.64 USD which is a 43% savings!! This considering that some 3-star hotels were in the $150+/per night range via travel booking websites.

And as always, I used Betterbidding.com's PRICELINE link to start my purchase.

    Regards,

    Carbo

    Nights: 2 Rooms: 1

    Subtotal: $258.00

    Total price: $308.36

    Approx CAD price @ 1.06 = $326.86

    Saturday, August 28, 2010 RATE $200.20 TAXES $27.57

    Sunday, August 29, 2010 RATE $184.80 TAXES $25.16

  6. Got this 4-star hotel in Downtown Vancouver for a mid September visit. Been price searching on Priceline for a little while up to $105/night USD with no luck. Next best offer was Hotwire with $122/night USD at the (high probability) Hyatt Regency. Finally decided to pony up and bid a bit higher, got done at $109/night USD. Rack rate on this room is $215/night CAD!! Thanks BetterBidding.com for a great reference and resource in my quest for travel savings. In return, as always, I use your PRICELINE link to start my purchase.

  7. Decided to choose this fantastic Vancouver hotel deal on Hotwire after unsuccessfully bidding on Priceline (up to $74 USD/night). The reason I went with the hotwire deal instead of bidding up to $96 on Priceline was because of the central location of The Westin Grand near Granville/Yaletown/Robson. Of course I figured out this hotwire hotel was going to be the Westin Grand thanks to BetterBidding.com's hotwire hotel list. As such, since I plan on partying for that halloween weekend and having a few beverages, it makes sense that my hotel be stumbling distance away! Rack rate on Expedia.ca is $195 CAD/night which is significant savings!

  13. Began bidding on 09/04/08 (same night stay) for room in Astoria, OR. There are no free re-bid zones so had to get lucky. Thanks to a member forum posting on BetterBidding.com, I decided to bid at $60 for a room (as that was accepted in the past). Bid was accepted! Rack rate was $139 for the same room... fantastic deal!

Used BetterBidding.com PRICELINE link to begin my purchase. Cheers!

  14. Began bidding on 09/02/08 (same night stay) at some internet cafe in Portland. Starting bid at $80 for 4-star. Used one free re-bid zone at $90 and was accepted. This unique artsy boutique hotel is run by the Kimpton group and was a great stay. Only complaint was the the $29 per night (valet only) parking!
