  1. Wanted to stay in a hotel somewhat close to downtown Chicago. Started bidding for a 3.5* hotel at $65.00 in North Michigan Ave - River North Area. Kept bidding for a 3.5* hotel throughout, and added: Lincoln Park at $70.00;Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area at $75.00;McCormick Place - Medical District at $80.00; andwon the bid at $85.00 after adding Franklin Park Area. For the two nights plus tax, my total by purchasing from Priceline was $206.24. I checked the Chicago Marriott at Medical District/UIC website for the least expensive room rate for those two nights, which was $206.00 a night. For two nights, plus tax, it would have been a total of $479.57 for the two nights. That calculates to a savings $273.33, which is a 57% savings.
  2. Pleasantly surprised to get this on my first bid of $60.00! I was prepared to rebid four more times @ $5.00 increments for a maximum bid of $80.00. Makes me wonder if I could have gotten this for less than $60.00 a night for five nights? I'm not complaining, though. Since there are so many Marriott hotels in the DC area, want to make clear that this is the one at 900 F Street NW, Washington, DC 20004.
  3. Wanted to get the Hyatt Regency Baltimore on the Inner Harbor, 300 Light Street, Baltimore, MD 21202, to attend a weekend conference on 1/21/11-1/23/11 - but didn't want to pay the conference hotel rates. Used the PRICELINE link to start my bidding. Started my bid for a 4-star in the Inner Harbor Area - Downtown at $54, which was rejected, but Priceline immediately counter-offered at $69 - which I rejected. Instead, I kept adding rebid zones at $2 increments and at the same 4-star level ($54, $56, $58, $60) and on the 4th try my rebid of $60 was accepted - and for the Hyatt Regency Baltimore! Total cost for Friday and Saturday, including taxes and fees, was $146.06.
  4. My wife and I are taking our daughter back to college. My first bid of $48 per room for two rooms for one night (Jan. 1, 2011 - Jan. 2, 2011) for a 4* in Downtown Cincinnati was accepted. The hotel is Hyatt Regency Cincinnati. Total with taxes & fees is $118.64.
  5. I am taking my high school daughter to visit colleges in Chicago from Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009 to Tuesday, Feb. 24. Started at $50.00 dollars and clicked on Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area for 4 stars. Based on previous bid winners, I hoped to get Hyatt Regency on 151 East Wacker Drive. Bid not accepted. Kept 4 stars throughout the bidding process. Added O'Hare Airport South for $52. Bid not accepted. Added Skokie - Niles - Evanston for $54. Bid not accepted. Added Lincoln Park for $56. Bid not accepted. Added Midway Airport Area for $57. Bid accepted for Hyatt Regency on 151 East Wacker Drive, just like I wanted. Price Per Room, Per Night: $57.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $114.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $25.64 Total Charges: $139.64 Thank you BetterBidding!
