  1. Sorry, forgot to mention hotel name. It was Courtyard by Marriott. Thanks.
  2. Bid for 3* for Houston Reliant Park / Medical Center area for $37 for 3/5/11 - 3/6/11. Win at the first bid. Total with taxes and fees is $50. I have stayed in this hotel many times. It's very nice hotel, centrally located, lots of eating places, shops around. They have a great lobby, and a very reasonably priced restaurant. :)
  3. Bid for 3* for Houston Hobby area for $40, no win. Bumped bid to $43 by adding free zones - no win. Bid $45, and got 3 * Marriott Hotel, for a total of $60 with taxes and fees. It's a VERY NICE property, one of the nicer Marriotts, can easily be a 4* or at least 3.5* hotel. Wonderful lobby, helpful front desk, great restaurant, nice location. The bed was very nice. Couldn't have asked for more. Worth the money!
  4. Bid $35 for 3* in Reliant Stadium. No win. Won the bid at $37 for 3* Residence Inn in Reliant Stadium area, Houston, TX for 01/22/11 to 01/23/11. With tax and fee it was $51. The hotel is ok, quite old, free breakfast, free parking. Overall not bad.
  5. Stayed in this hotel. Very old property with old furniture and old styles. The bed was nice though. It has a nice courtyard. Given a choice, I would not stay here again. But, with priceline low prices, what choices do we have!
  6. Stayed in this hotel. The hotel is not as nice as some of the other Courtyard I have stayed in. This is much older property, the rooms are furnished with old stuff and old style. The looby is nice though. The location of hotel is a bit creepy area, not a very nice part of the town, even though it is located close to two highways (290 and 610). But, again for this kind of price, can't be expecting more!
  7. Houston - Brookhollow - 3 Star Hotel 01/07/11 to 01/09/11 - 2 nights. Bid for $33, no win. Added free re-bid zone and bumped price to $35. Won Courtyard by Marriott. Total Price with tax for two nights $89. Property address is 2504 North Loop West, Houston, Texas 77092.
  8. Bid one night 12/27/10 for 3* hotel in Houston Reliant Medical Center area for $37. First bid at $37 won. Total with tax and fees came out to be $50. I have stayed in this property before several times. It's a nice property, and lots of eating places close by.
  9. Dec 18, 2010, Bid for 4* in Houston Galleria area for $45, no win. Added re-bid zone and bumped price to $50. Got Hilton. It's a very nice hotel, upscale Hilton. I have stayed in other rinky-dink Hiltons, but this is a much nicer property. Staff is very nice too. Total price with tax and everything came out to be around $66. The only bummer is parking fee is $14, but I knew beforehand no hotels in Galleria will have a free parking, and I wanted to stay in Galleria area. So, no complaints!
  10. Houston Brookhollow 3* Hotel on 10/30/10 for one night - Crowne Plaza. Bid $30 and accepted on the first go. Total with tax and everything it was $42. The property is nice, a little old though, but close to many eating places and centrally located near the highway 290. Overall very nice experience with this hotel.
  11. 9/18/10 - 1 night - Got 3 Star Park Inn - Houston IAH Airport area for $35, with taxes and fees $47. Bid for $35 and the first offer was accepted! The hotel is ok, but I wouldn't really call it a 3 Star Hotel. I have stayed at other 3 Star hotels (like Fairfield Inn, Holiday Inn) from Priceline and they are nicer Park Inn is basically a motel, slightly better than a 2 star motel. In fact, there's a Baymont Inn right next to it (and both the hotels are owned by the same owner, they even share a common walkway) which I booked another time through Priceline for $30 and it's a 2 Star (Baymont Inn) hotel. If I compare Baymont and Park Inn - they are pretty much the same! Anyway not ranting, but if you want a nicer property around Houston IAH airport area, your strategy should be to choose 3.5 Star hotel so you can avoid this dingy 3 stars which truly should not be 3 star.
  12. Got Holiday 3 - star on 8/7/10 for one night - $37 plus $13 fee. Reliant Stadium area. Nice hotel. Tried bidding $35, but no win.
  13. 9/4/10 for one day - $37 per night plus $13 in fees = $50 Put $35 for 3-star. No win. Bumped it to $37 and got Courtyard Medical Center Reliant Stadium Houston.
  14. Booked 3 Star Holiday Inn Airport Miami through Hotwire for 4 night Sept 18 - 22 for total of $175.00. The hotel website is: http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/hd/MIAIA?& Free airport shuttle, free transporation to port. Close to airport, downtown, and port. Free wireless internet in every room. Great dining and nearby walking distance eating places. Thanks.
  15. Got Homestead Suites Blue Lagoon for $30 per night from 6/5/05 to 6/10/05. Got same $30 price for 6/12/05 to 6/17/05. It is a nice property for a 2* hotel. Has a little kitchenette with some pots and pans. No housekeeping if you stay less than 4 nights. It is located on 72 NW Ave and 7th Strett; about 10 - 12 mintues drive from airport. Happy bidding.
  16. Booked Austin North 2.5 * for $21 for Nov 11, 2004. Got Wellesly Inn (comes as Extended Stay in Priceline...the hotel changed name/ownership I guess). If you choose Austin North and 2.5 star rating, pretty much guranteed you will get this hotel. Happy bidding! lilas_rak
  17. I just booked Four Points (by Sheraton) in Chelsea area of Manhattan for $169 per night through my comapny's corporate travel booking. It is cancellable with 24 hours notice. Guess I won't get anything cheaper than this thro Priceline. Thanks for your help and suggestions folks. lilas_rak
  18. Yes, it is certainly much preferred treatment as I have been staying in this hotel for a long time. I can get pretty much any room of my choice. Folks there know me by first name, and I also know all of the front desk staff by first name. It certainly helps. Even if you are coming just one time in this hotel, they treat Priceline customer as any other regular customer. Only hotel I have seen attitude towards Priceline customer is Homestead Suites in Austin Downtown. lilas_rak
  19. For about last eight weeks, every week I have been getting Austin Red Lion Hotel for $24. Austin Red Lion $24. It's 2 start property. Pretty nice. No free breakfast though. Failed Bids: $25, 2.5 star, Austin North (this one usually lands Wellesly Inn on I-35 Austin North, my favorite hotel). But now a days it is going for $30. Happy bidding. lilas_rak
  20. Is the parking free in the hotel? If you had to pay for parking, how much was the parking? I am tempted for it, but if parking is not free, it may be an additional expense.

  22. I went upto $160 for all locations of New York city with a 2 star hotel bidding. No luck yet. Tried Brooklyn Heights also for $115 for 2 star. No luck. I was trying to keep it under $150 per night. Still don't have any fall back booking. I guess I should do a fall back booking which is cancellable. Are the New York hotel bookings when booked directly with the hotel cancellable? Any suggestions welcome! lilas_rak
  23. Sorry for the delay in response to your follow up question. The Fairfield Inn is located in Sulphur which is 8 miles from Lake Charles. It's a 10 - 12 minute drive from Lake Charles. lilas_rak
  24. Trying to get a hotel 2* or above in NY Manhattan area. Bid upto $150 with Midtown South, West, East, Soho/Fin District and Central Park area. No luck. Any suggestions what price could get some hotel there? Is it better to wait to till 16th or 17th on the hope they release the lower price hotels in the last moment? Would appreciate your guidance. Thanks. lilas_rak
