Started 3* @ 53, then bid 3* @ 56, then bid 2.5* @ 57 and won. This is a 3*. Last time I stayed at the Ramada downtown (3*, through hotwire). Nice location but a bit run down. The holiday inn looks like a newer property.

I think you hit on the problem in your post...twins and vikings in town the same weekend. Plus there are always events and things in the city. Consider bloomington. There is a huge hotel market down there and rates are always cheap. If you bid for the holiday inn its right accross the street from the commuter train and that takes you downtown. GL

I used the link to PRICELINE. I tried 2.5* at $40, then $45, then $50, then $40 for 2* was accepted. I got the super 8 wisconsin dells. Saw some bad reviews for this property but it does have free breakfast and wifi.

$35 8/17/10 - 8/21/10 Was bidding for arlington heights but gave after my $40 bid was rejected. This property is being remodeled so they might take a lower bid.
