  1. I keep getting a listing for a 2* for $88 per night near the beach area. Fort Lauderdale Beach Area Selected amenities include: Pool(s), Laundry Facilities (self-service). Any thoughts on what this is?
  2. I had my friend bid again with similar star ratings and $110 and no luck either. We had a third person agree to come so we ended up booking : http://www.thejeffersonhouse.com/ Which is a gay B and B and has an excellent reputation. Thanks for all your help Chris
  3. alltogether. don't you have to do that with a rebid? though i see where if i had done south beach, and that zone, i could have still done south beach and all the zones (that have less then 4 stars)
  4. ok i tried all those zones this morning and bid $115 per night and was rejected.
  5. i may have have missed N miami beach. trying that now.
  6. Coconut Grove - 4star Coral Gables - 4star Dadeland - 3star Key Biscayne - Resort MIA Airport 4 star Miami Beach - 4 star (and resort) Miami Downtown - 4 star Miami Lakes - 3star North Miami - 2 star N Miami Beach - 3 star South Beach - N/A the one i'm bidding Southwest Miami 2.5 star
  7. I'm not sure what your finding but i just went through all the zones again and don't see anything. All the zones that don't have 4 stars are what i bid above. Key Biscayne has resorts...but that is not what i want.
  8. I didn't do this right at all. I should have clarified on rebidding. I didn't start with a Resort because quite honestly I didn't like any of the locations and they all seem to be off the beaten path a bit (maybe i'm wrong). So knowing this is a holiday weekend I started a little bit higher. I checked 4* South Beach at 85, then added Dade 95, then N Miami 100, then Miami Lakes, 105, then southwest miami for 110 and was rejected on all bids. Seems to me that is pretty telling that no four star is going to be available in that price range. On hotwire there is a 3.5 star with "Selected amenities include: Boutique Hotel, Near Beach, Airport Shuttle, Restaurant(s), Complimentary Breakfast, High-Speed Internet Access, Tennis" or we may just stay at the Joshua House which is a gay and lesbian B and B which is more expensive but is recommendd. Open to thoughts whether I have anymore rebids open on priceline.
  9. well I think $100-120 is probably the max bid since for $145 i can get the albion which has 2 double beds and we know would work out fine. I think South Beach is definitely preferably as we will want to go to the gay clubs and such and be as close as possible. My friend i'm going with can priceline as well, so we have a backup bidder! Chris
  10. I'm not worrying as much about being cheap on this trip. I want something nice for my birthday. I'd like to use Priceline and Hotwire to get a good value on a centrally located hotel. I've deduced what hotwire is offering using betterbidding.com. South Beach This hotel 3* South Beach $90 plus tax :Richmond Hotel http://www.richmondhotel.com/ (this place has bad reviews and is boutique) 3.5* $123 plus tax per night http://www.doubletree.com/en/dt/hotels/ind...ctyhocn=MIAOFDT (mixed reviews but higher chance of getting two double beds, though appears to be sold out during our dates, so it could be a different hotel) Miami Beach 3.5 Stars. 128 per night Clarion Claridge hotel (which i have to say is gorgeous and good reviews) http://www.claridgefl.com/ Recommended on Flyertalk : http://www.rubellhotels.com/albion.html $145 a night, non priceline booked , I actually called them and could confirm 2 double beds. Review: http://www.gayot.com/newhotels/MiamiSouthF...?tag=MIHOT03564 http://www.clintonsouthbeach.com/discover.htm , $203 per night, 2 Queen Beds, according to FT close to the clubs. Lots of great reviews. So It seems like a good strategy might be to start with $80 or so for a three star and go that way. (ps i like on betterbidding how you can be a bit more conversational on your posts..)
  11. I'm looking at bidding for that same weekend, but found a 3* on Hotwire for $83 a night in South Beach. Does that mean i'd stand a better chance of bidding on Priceline now?
  12. Thanks. I will try something a tad higher.
  13. Hello, I've read through some of the threads and have a decent idea of what to do.. I'm going to LA from 9/23 to 9/27/04 and am interested in just staying in West Hollywood. My friend Rob read the list of hotels and said the only one I really don't want is the Century City one, and the hyatt which everyone seems to be getting is fine. I guess the Ramada (which shows up under 2stars) and some of the other ones are right near all the gay clubs and stuff, which would be great. If I want to "lowball it", what's a fair number to start at? I was thinking of bidding $40 for the 3 star category West Hollywood/Beverly Hills for those 4 nights? Is my thinking right? Thanks, Chris
  14. My friend bid (Don't quote me exactly on his bidding steps) $65 for a 4 Star in MTE and MTW 70 for a 3 star MTE and MTW 75 for a 2 1/2 star All rejected. Then I went back in and tried $90 for a 4 star in MTE..rejected Then $100 for a 3 star and got the 4* Avenue of the Americas Hilton succesfully as an upgraded 4* bid. We only wanted Midtown east and we were VERY happy with this win. Probably not the best strategy, but we used 2 people to bid to get what we want. Also worth noting this was a same day bid, bid at noon that day.
  15. I did..but my friend said that area was ok, and I actually got the hotel he is staying at 2 after the bid.
  16. Thanks to the help on the board. I bid 4* NMA $60 - Rejected added "the loop" for $65 - Accepted Total was $81.17 w/taxes. went through the ebay link too for the anything points. Chris
  17. First of all. Love the feel of this board and how welcoming it is..i'm a moderator over on Flyertalk so I'm happy to help over here. I have a pretty good grip on rebids. i've checked out hotwire too and found a 4 star on NMA for 7/15 - 7/16 for $87 which is why i think priceline can beat it. I'm just thinking of where to start.
  18. I am interested in bidding 7/15/04 for NMA as well. SHould i start with $65?
