  1. Only trying 4 stars and up in Downtown and Downtown North (Mount Vernon). Started at $70 and rebid in $5 increments until $110 was accepted. Saved around $35/night versus booking directly on other travel sites. Less than spectacular savings but at least it's a well reviewed hotel. I've never stayed here but I'm looking forward to it.
  2. Used BB's PRICELINE links. Bid in $3 increments starting at $32 until winning bid of $38. Going rate on travel sites was $79 for same dates. Never stayed here. Hope's it nice enough for an overnighter. Thanks.
  3. First bid of $50.33/night accepted. I had $3.33 of bonus cash per room per night added to my bid. So, I'm only paying $47 a night + taxes and fees per room for a total of 3 rooms. But winning bid amount was $50.33 not $47.00. Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $47.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 3 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $282.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $54.42 (USD) Total Room Cost: $336.42 (USD) Should be a fun 4th of July!! :) Used your PRICELINE link. Thanks.
  4. Started bidding on 3 1/2 star properties in the Raleigh area only (not Durham, Cary or Chapel Hill) at $38 and re-bid up to $50 in $2 increments with no success. Dropped down to 3 stars and started bidding at $30 and re-bid up to $34 with no success. I was determined not to pay over $35 a night for the Holiday Inn Brownstone considering the recent poor reviews. So, my last bid was for $35 and that was the magic number. I'm sure it will be fine for the 15 hours I plan on staying there. Total with taxes and fees is $47.14
  5. I wasn't really expecting to get anything bidding so low and so early on a 3.5* hotel, but you can't beat the price. I was hoping to luck into the Crown Plaza for $40 or less. Getting the Rosen Centre was a bit of a surprise. This is the first time I've gotten a hotel that was not on the BetterBidding Priceline Hotel List. I know nothing about the Rosen Centre, but it looks beautiful. Will hopefully be a nice change of pace. Plus, I only need the room for one night. The rest of the trip will be spent with family. Total Price including taxes and fees for one night is $47.94. Thanks BetterBidding! BTW, used BetterBidding PRICELINE and link as always.
  6. Total price including taxes and service fees: $53.57 Thanks betterbidding. BTW, used your PRICELINE link for booking.
  7. I tried for a 3 star (highest level in Frederick) for several weeks up to $60 with no success. Bid of $45 on a 2.5 star was denied but an increase of $13 was offered to re-bid immediately, which I declined. Waited 24 hours and $50 bid was accepted on 2.5 star. Thanks to this forum, I was fairly confident that the 2.5 star was the Holiday Inn Conf Ctr. which is more than acceptable for me. This is $13/night less than was being offered on Hotwire, most likely for the same hotel (listed as a 3 star on Hotwire). Looking forward to the trip now. Much appreciation to the moderator and other forum members. BTW, I used the PRICELINE link provided through betterbidding.
  8. Hotwire 3.5* Hotel Oahu Wakiki North 07/23/08-07/28/08 Price $109/night Amenities: Boutique, High Speed Internet Access, Business Center That's it for amenities. A 3.5* with no pool, restaurant or fitness? Doesn't seem to match any of the hotels on the betterbidding list. Thanks in advance for your assistance!
  9. Need a hotel only for a 10 hour layover in Honolulu. This will do just fine!! $60/night - total for one night with taxes and fees $75.06
  10. My first posting here. Great forum. Just want to let everyone know that I just got the Resortquest Aloha Beach Resort in Kauai from 07/21/08 - 07/23/08 for $70 a night (total with fees for 2 nights $165.55). It may be possible to get it for less...not really sure. Unfortunately, I goofed. I was using proper bidding strategy on different dates for different islands on 3+ star hotels. So, it was always the second button down (#1=4 star #2=3 star) on the priceline website. But on Kauai there are no 4 stars available so my normal second button down strategy was a 2 star instead of a 3 star. You know what you get for ASSUMING!!...lol. So the long and short is, I got the Aloha Beach Resort on my first ever bid in Kauai for $70. Still seems like a pretty good deal. Most travel sites have it listed at $99. Looking forward to the trip. Hope this helps and thanks for everyones input here especially the extremely helpful moderator.
