  1. Using the PRICELINE link, I bid 59,62,65, and got the Renaissance Washington at $69. Total including taxes/fees is $86.30
  2. I tried that cashback offer once. They sent me a check promptly but it is very difficult to cancel because they are very persistent. It took me several phone calls to finally cancel the membership. Although I got some money back, I don't think it's worth the hassle.
  3. Just got back from Los Angeles. The Westin Pasadena is a beautiful hotel in a great location within walking distance of Old Town and the metro rail station. The entire hotel is non-smoking. Staff is friendly and helpful. Room was nice with a comfortable Heavenly bed, dual shower heads, robe, safe, and Starbucks coffee. Even though priceline rates this hotel as 3.5*, I think it could pass for 4* based on the design of the public areas, room amenities, staff, and location. In fact, yahoo, Expedia, and tripadvisor rate the Westin Pasadena as 4*.
  4. I stayed at the Hyatt for $65 during Fourth of July weekend last year so you could possibly get it for close to that price - assuming there isn't any major convention or some other big event going on outside of the usual Independence Day crowds.
  5. Bid using the PRICELINE link. Succeeded on my first bid. The lowest rate on Mariott's website is $309! Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $65.00 Subtotal: $65.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $16.54 Total Charges: $81.54
  6. I recommend ignoring the counter offer message (I'm assuming that is what you saw) as you can usually undercut the counter offers.
  7. Started at $67, and received a counter offer to add $17. Ignored the counter offer and bid $70 which was accepted. Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $70.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $70.00 Taxes and Fees: $17.52 Total Room Cost: $87.52
  8. Using the PRICELINE link, started bidding at $60 and worked my way to $66 for the Marriott Inner Harbor Camden Yards. With taxes and fees the total is $82.70. Lowest rate on the hotel's website is $179 so this is a very sweet deal.
  9. A bidder got the Renaissance Mayflower over Memorial Day weekend in an earlier priceline winning bid thread, and I'm glad to have done the same. Clicked the PRICELINE link and started with $76, and priceline gave me a counter offer to add $22. I ignored it and continued bidding using the re-bid process until scoring at $79.
  10. Bid using the PRICELINE link. Succeeded on my first try. Check-In Date: Fri, Apr 17, 2009 Check-Out Date: Sun, Apr 19, 2009 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $78.00 Subtotal: $156.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $28.68 Total Charges: $184.68 The Westin Pasadena appears to be available on hotwire for $99. A search in this forum shows this hotel has been won with bids as low as $78 in recent years, so I made that my starting bid.
  11. After I saw on hotwire a 4.5* hotel for $109 which appeared to be the Le Meridien, I decided to try to beat it on priceline. I used the PRICELINE link. Started with Financial District - Embarcadero. Bid $85 which was not accepted. Added one free re-bid zone and bid $89 and was accepted. Reviews for the Le Meridien look great. Actually, all of the 4* hotels in the Financial District - Embarcadero had good reviews as well. Check-In Date: Thu, Jul 2, 2009 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Sun, Jul 5, 2009 / 12:00 PM Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $89.00 Subtotal: $267.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $50.90 Total Charges*: $317.90 Thank you for the tips on rebidding.
  12. I stayed in the Fisherman's Wharf area last time I was in San Francisco. It's a great location if you like being close to the bay. Many ferries depart from Fisherman's Wharf and it is reasonably close to the Golden Gate bridge, Union Square, and Chinatown. It is served by buses, cable cars, and streetcars. It is crowded during the daytime, especially on weekends and holidays, but is quiet at night which may help you sleep better. I stayed at the Holiday Inn on Fisherman's Wharf which is a nice hotel.
  13. A couple options for those dates from HOTWIRE: 4* on Union Square East at 116 which appears to be Westin St. Francis 3* on Union Square East at 103 which appears to be Pickwick Hotel
  14. Congratulations, your price of $40 was accepted by Courtyard By Marriott Westchase. Check-In Date: Sat, Jan 10, 2009 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Sun, Jan 11, 2009 / 12:00 PM Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $40.00 Subtotal: $40.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $14.03 Total Charges: $54.03
  15. Thank you. I booked the 4.5* hotel at $113, and it is the Inter-Continental. Looks like a good deal considering the quality of the hotel and the holiday season.
  16. Looking at 2 hotels on hotwire, and need help trying to identify them: 4.5* in Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville Amenities: Fitness Center Restaurant Business Center High-speed Internet Access Tripadvisor: 4.0 out of 5 - Based on 260+ customer reviews (Last reviewed September 2008) 4*in Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville Amenities: Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool Restaurant Business Center High-speed Internet Access Tripadvisor: 3.5 out of 5 - Based on 280+ customer reviews (Last reviewed September 2008)
  17. My first bid on PRICELINE for my first trip to Chicago for 4th of July weekend. Bid $65 for a 3* hotel in downtown Chicago, was accepted and upgraded to a 4*. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $65.00 Subtotal: $195.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $38.42 Total Charges: $233.42 I'm very happy with the price I got for the Hyatt (and I've had great experiences with Hyatt hotels), especially considering the convenient location and that it's during a holiday period. Flying into O'Hare from Austin,TX and using the CTA to get around so no worries about parking.
