  1. I used the PRICELINE link. Hotwire has a 4* which I think is the Roosevelt. I started with $85 and priceline countered with $102. I then bid $88 and got the Roosevelt as I anticipated.
  2. I used the HOTWIRE link. Amenities: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking
  3. Before booking via priceline or hotwire, you should also research Expedia, orbitz, hotels.com, kayak, etc. See what published rates are before using an opaque booking service. You mentioned loyalty rewards - check to see if there are special rates for members of the hotel's rewards programs.
  4. Hotel rates are on the higher side for Labor Day weekend. I put in a $125 bid for USW, USE, SOMA, and Embarcadero. It was accepted by Hilton San Francisco, in Union Square, on the first try, which means I overbid Hotwire 4* rates for those zones are: USE-Moscone: $168 FD-Embarcadero: $148 USW: $157 Still cheaper than Hotwire so a decent deal. Hotel website has $179 for my dates. I used the PRICELINE link to bid.
  5. I used the PRICELINE link. I started at $75. Priceline counter offered $87. My second bid was $80 for the win. I'm attending a party at Sunset Station Saturday night and Sunday morning I'm doing a segway tour of downtown San Antonio so this is a good location.
  6. I used the PRICELINE link. I was looking for a hotel either in Round Rock, North Austin, or Arboretum zones. I started with $55 and used rebids until winning the Staybridge Suites Round Rock at $69. This hotel gets great reviews and has complimentary breakfast. Looking forward to my stay.
  7. Yesterday I bid $40 and priceline countered with $51. Today I bid $45 and won the Microtel Inn And Suites Austin Airport. The hotel has great reviews on tripadvisor and I'm flying out of the airport the next morning so the location is perfect. I used the PRICELINE link.
  8. You may also want to look into Embarcadero - Financial District zone. It is close to Union Square and has easy access to public transportation options. The 4* hotels in this zone all get good reviews.
  9. I used the HOTWIRE link. Amenities: Restaurant High-Speed Internet Access Tripadvisor: 4.5 Exactly the hotel I anticipated. This is one of the San Francisco hotels I've wanted to stay in. I'm looking forward to my stay :)
  10. Adding on to slruud's post, you should also check HOTWIRE as you can take a guess as to what the hotel is. The new W hotel is a couple block from the heart of downtown Austin and is a good location for Austin's downtown nightlife.
  11. I used the HOTWIRE to book. Amenities: Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access 95% recommended. 4.0 tripadvisor rating. I took a guess that this was the Omni Southpark with a new icon added (Smoke Free Rooms) and I was right :)
  12. I started at $45, and priceline counter-offered $57. I then bid $49 and got the Doubletree. I used the PRICELINE link.
  13. I started bidding at $47 and continued to rebid up to $55. This was one of the hotels in the zone I was hoping for (the others were Holiday Inn Midtown and Courtyard Central). I am attending a conference at the Holiday Inn and the conference rate is $89. By bidding on priceline, I got a hotel that's close to the conference and saved $70 once taxes are added in. The lowest rate on the Crowne Plaza website is $151. I used the PRICELINE link.
  14. I went with Priceline, and got the W New York Hotel in the Midtown East zone at $140. Bid history: $125 $130 $135 - priceline counter-offered $162 $139 $140 - accepted Lowest rate on the hotel's website is $175.76, not as big of a deal as my previous Priceline wins, but I still saved $100 for the stay. This is my first stay at a W hotel and I hope it will be a good experience. I used the PRICELINE link. I love the new format of the forums :)
  15. Placed the bid this morning. Won on the first bid. I used the PRICELINE link.
  16. Thank you. I'm investigating other options since I have 2 months before my trip. I plan to book a hotel within the next week or so, before prices go up - this is Christmas in New York after all. I will use the links if I go the Hotwire or Priceline route.
  17. Dates: 12/24/2011 - 12/27/2011 4* Midtown East, $154 Amenities: Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Spa Services My best guess is W New York 4* Midtown Central, $163 Amenities: Boutique Hotel, Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access My best guess is Shoreham Anyone agree or disagree with my guesses?
  18. I just completed a stay at this hotel and enjoyed it. Very happy to be going back. I used the PRICELINE link.
  19. I used the extend-your-stay feature to add a second night. My new checkout date is 8/23/11
  20. I used the PRICELINE link to bid. I started with $37, and priceline made a counter offer of $48. I added $1 for each bid until winning the Hyatt Place for $42.
