  1. does a tripadvisor review of 4.5/5 and a hotwire 95% recommended stat narrow down the potential hotels?
  2. hi, do you mind sharing your bidding strategy? i'm going the week before you and have been out of luck going up to $180. Thanks.
  3. ok, links clicked. the hotwire hotel is still showing up. out of curiousity, is there a general rule of thumb about how much cheaper priceline is than hotwire if you're trying to bid? thanks.
  4. I see a 4 star midtown east hotel that is 95% recommended at $198/night. The amenities are: 4-star Hotel in Midtown East This Hotel features the following amenities: Fitness Center Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply. Restaurant(s) Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary. Business Center Guests have access to business equipment and services; an additional charge may apply. High-Speed Internet Access Guestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply. Any idea what hotel this is? Thanks.
  5. which are the 7 rebid zones? for example in the first rebidding - what 2 come after MTW? thanks.
  6. I closed the rental car thread and I had already closed the Hawaii one but letting the forum know about my winning bid. Am I supposed to do something else?
  7. i ended up getting a car rental using the Entertainment Book instead of PRICELINE.
  8. Hello, I am hoping to stay in central Manhattan and am ok with the following locations: -central park south -chelsea area -empire state building -madison square garden -midtown east -midtown west -time square I would like to limit my search to 4* and don't want to go over $170 with bidding with a preference of maxxing out at $150. Would you please assist in giving me a rebidding strategy? Thank you.
  9. has the royal hawaiian been seen on priceline recently? i'd like to have a hotel that has a kids pool but there are too many choices in the 4* and resort level for waikiki that don't have a kids pool that leads me to think it's too risky. i know the royal hawaiian can use the sheraton's pool area so it seems to be ok. my budget is $170. is that realistic at all? i have bid that but no luck so far. thanks.
  10. Good news. I got the Hyatt for $145/night for 2 rooms and using a $20 bonus cash for October 8-12, 2011. My bids started at $135 (137.50) for kaanapali - rebid at $140 (142.50) - was asked if I wanted to increase by $32 to $162 and I said no - rebid at $145 (147.50) and got the two rooms. Thank you very much for your help!
  11. tried the bidding strategy today but no luck...i am now bidding for 2 rooms though since some friends want to stay in the same hotel as us. do the odds get worse when bidding for more than one room?
  12. i'm trying to bid for a hotel and a car at the same time on priceline. is there a way to do any re-bids on their car rental pages? i'm looking for a full size from oct 8-12 and have gone to $20 which is actually $23 with $3 bonus cash per day. No luck so far. Thanks.
  13. i tried bidding higher last night and was up to $155 but still nothing. i chose resort and then lahaina, rebid with kihei, rebid with kahului, rebid with wailea and went from $140-$155. i was going by one of the posts that someone got the hyatt for $135 in october but because our dates are different, it may not work for me. do you know if they continually release inventory - does it work to just keep trying every day?
  14. i tried to find the info but it is no longer there - probably cause this dates back to 2008.
  15. i am ok with a resort anywhere on maui so yes, wailea is fine. i didn't see any 4* hotels on the pinned list so is it ok to add re-bids on the basis that there aren't any in kihei and kaluhui?
  16. sorry for not ending my san diego thread a while back - i have closed it (i think!). for the maui trip, i am looking to stay from october 8-12, 2011. i have maxed all by bids at $140 based on another thread of getting the hyatt at $135. it doesn't matter where we stay in terms of location but i do want a resort so i can be guaranteed a children's pool etc. any advice? i have been doing the re-bid strategy of adding locations. thanks.
  17. I ended up getting the Hilton for something in the low $100's on priceline and had a very nice stay there.
  18. are there no 'resorts' in kahului? how about kihei? trying to increase my rebids. thanks.
  19. hi there, what would the best bidding strategy be if i was hoping to get the hyatt in maui or at least one of the resorts in lahaina?
  20. I actually do have a cancellable reservation at the Dana on Mission Bay for $175/night. I'm pretty sure I can get a lower rate by bidding so I will just do as you suggest and try to bid every 7-10 days. I have gone up to $101 on all 3 locations but have been unsuccessful so far. Does anybody know the difference between the North County Coastal and Del Mar in terms of beaches. We are going to Legoland and while North County Coastal might get me closer, I don't think Del Mar is too far away so I may also bid for Del Mar if someone suggests it. Thanks.
  21. Thanks Colfax. When you say I shouldn't bid more than $100 for Coastal/Coronado, does that mean that I should try every so often but never go higher than $100? Is there a point in time when I should above that? I would like to book as soon as possible so I have it but I guess availability isn't really a problem with so many hotels in those two zones?
  22. I will be travelling to San Diego in September and would like to stay as follows: * In Carlsbad, preferably 4* from September 21-23. I checked the Sheraton rates and they are at $199/night. I would prefer to pay under $100/night and if necessary, could bid for a 3*. The Grand Pacific Palisades rates are $159/night. * In Coronado or Coastal, preferably 4* from September 23-26. I checked the rates for the Hyatt and Hilton in La Jolla and Mission Bay and they range from $214 to $249/night. The Loews and Marriot in Coronado rates are from $229-$245. Any assistance on the starting bid and/or if I am bidding too early is appreciated. Thank you.
