  1. No two star hotels on the hotel list for this area, so we winged it. Stars: 2 Amenities: Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Pet friendly Recommended %: Says "Still Gathering Reviews" Wound up being: Super 8 Mackinaw City/Beachfront Area. Staying there tonight... hope it's OK... reviews are mixed. Used the HOTWIRE Quickquote on this site to book it. - Scott
  2. Just a follow-up... hotel was very nice. Fairly noisy at night, but that happens on Saturday nights, almost everywhere you go. We asked for a 3rd floor room to minimize the "floor pounders". Breakfast was very good, as is usually the case with Holiday Inn Express... scrambled eggs, sausage & gravy biscuits, sausage patties & links plus all the normal assortment of "carbs", and of course their signature cinnamon rolls. Rooms were clean and adequate, wi-fi was average quality (usable), staff friendly. We'd go again. - Scott
  3. The hotel we booked is located at 2501 S. Shirley Ave. in Sioux Falls, and is identified as "Holiday Inn Exp. Hotel & Suites Sioux Falls At Empire Mall" - Scott
  4. Used the HOTWIRE search box on betterbidding.com to start the hotel search process. Wound up paying $64.00 per night for two nights (8/17 checkin, 8/19 checkout) at the 2.5 star Holiday Inn Express in Sioux Falls. Primary amenities listed were: Indoor pool(s), Airport Shuttle, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Business Center When you click "See All Amenities" there is a huge list, which added:Laundry Facilities (self-service), High-Speed Internet Access, Golf Nearby, Free Parking, Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Accessible path of travel, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf. We were actually able to get a better price for Friday night only on a 3.5* (likely Sheraton), but the price jumped up dramatically if we included Saturday for a two-night stay. The Holiday Inn Express was the best value for a two-night stay. Hope this helps. - Scott
  5. Amenties: Complimentary Breakfast, Internet access, Fitness Center, Golf nearby, Business Center. Used the HOTWIRE QuickQuote box on this site. We have stayed at this hotel 3 other times in the last couple of years, always very pleased. It's right across the street from the awesome Mitsuwa Japanese grocery & food court, and there are some Japanese food options at the hotel breakfast (miso soup, rice, etc.) which is kind of fun. - Scott
  6. Holiday Inn Express Chicago - Arlington Heights, IL Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby 90% Hotwire reviews recommend $45.00 per night Nights: 5 Rooms: 1 Tax recovery charges & fees: $34.38 Subtotal: $259.38 Booked through the HOTWIRE link on this site. We stayed at this same hotel last month, and were pleased to get it again. Other than occasional flaky wi-fi and a bad TV which they claimed they could not fix, due to it being a weekend, we had an otherwise great stay (and the kids found something else to do besides watching TV)
  7. Holiday Inn Express Chicago - Arlington Heights, IL Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby 90% Hotwire reviews recommend $49.00 per night Nights: 3 Rooms: 1 Tax recovery charges & fees: $22.08 Subtotal: $169.08 Booked through the HOTWIRE link on this site.
  8. Title says 3*, description says 3.5*. May I ask which is it? EDIT... never mind... I see there is a completely separate hotel stay also listed in this post (confusing, but OK...) - Scott
  9. FYI, this facility does not have parking, so you must use the Convention Center next door, which is $31/night (with in/out privs).
  10. Booked through Hotwire search box on this site. 2.5 stars Des Moines, IA, West-Clive area. La Quinta Inn. Amenities: Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access This hotel doesn't appear to be on the list of Hotwire hotels on this site, FYI. Perhaps a new addition? While I use the search box on this site, I always have to search again once I get to Hotwire, because your search box doesn't allow me to input the number of kids. This is necessary, in order to pretty much guarantee we will have two beds. Any chance of adding such an input? -Scott
  11. Ok guys, this is strange.... I booked another night at this hotel via HOTWIRE and this time, the business center icon did NOT show up, and it is NOT listed as an amenity. The magical disappearing business center! By the way, they DO have a business center. It is located in a nook near the lobby, with two PCs and a printer. - Scott
  12. When you say Business icon, do you mean "Business Center"? i.e. the icon that looks like a printer with a piece of paper coming out the top? - Scott
  13. The amenities listed are a copy-and-paste from HOTWIRE.com > My Account > My Booked Trips. I am not sure what else you are looking for. - Scott
  14. We got the Hyatt Summerfield Suites -- sorry for the confusion. - Scott
  15. Using the HOTWIRE link on this site, booked a two-night stay (8/21/09 - 8/23/09) at a 2.5 star hotel in Denver, and it turned out to be the Best Western Inn, in Lakewood. Fantastic price of $40 per night. Hotel has been great for us. Amenities: Complimentary Breakfast Pool(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access FYI, this hotel doesn't appear on the Hotwire list of hotels for Denver, so perhaps it can be added sometime.
  16. Used HOTWIRE search box from this site to book a 3 Star hotel in Colorado Springs, CO, for a 5-night stay, 8/23/09 - 8/28/09. Turned out to be the Hyatt Summerfield Suites, which appears to be an AWESOME hotel. We are excited! Thought about using PRICELINE to save some money, but since we have kids, HOTWIRE works best. I like how I can choose "2 children" on HOTWIRE, which pretty much guarantee us two beds. From looking at this site, we surely could have saved $10 or more per night, by using PRICELINE. Oh well. Amenities listed on Hotwire: Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Moderator: Can you fix the title of the post, to show the corrected checkout date of 8/28?
  17. Amenities listed at Hotwire for this hotel were: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby I see that some people were successful using Priceline to get even better rates, but we were very happy with this price for this hotel. BEAUTIFUL hotel, and a nice location. Only two complaints: No wi-fi, and the cabled Internet was $9.95 for 24 hours and DOG SLOW (entire building is sharing a T1 line, which is only 1.5mb). If you are a road warrior and need to get work done in your room via the Internet -- stay away! The sheets they use are all "crinkly". Perhaps they are using starch and this is some type of rich person thing, but our family found them uncomfortable and did not like the noise they made when one would toss & turn.
  18. The amenities listed at Hotwire for the Ramada Hitching Post Inn, in Cheyenne, are: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby The reviews at TripAdvisor are awful (cat poop, torn bedding, urine stained bedding, creaky floors, broken wi-fi, loud parties, etc., etc., etc.) I expected we'd be at the Bates Motel, and my wife would be asking for a divorce for me not paying the extra $7 for the 3-star :) So far, I am pleasantly surprised. Our room appears somewhat updated, larger than average room, good wi-fi, and pretty quiet. This place is HUGE (at least 4 two-story buildings) and I feel like there are 20 of us staying here tonight. Perhaps we got the "good rooms" due to the low occupancy tonight. Anyway, I dodged a bullet. Going with the 2.5 to 3 star options for the rest of the trip... I like my wife :) - Scott
  19. HOTWIRE purchase, using this site to start the search. TripAdvisor reviews on this hotel are TERRIBLE. Sounds like this hotel should be shut down. It is a shame that HOTWIRE allows such hotels to even be in their system. I will let you know the scoop, once we get there.
  20. 3-Star Hotel, Bloomington East (Mall of America / MSP Airport area). Turned out to be Hyatt Place. We've been here before (also via Hotwire) and really liked it. Listed with the following amenities: Suite Non smoking Airport shuttle Free Breakfast Fitness Center Swimming Pool Restaurant Business Center Used the HOTWIRE link here on this site to make our purchase. Prices were higher this time around, but still a good value. - Scott
  21. Thanks knthe6boys, we booked this same deal for 1 room, check in 12/29, checkout 12/30. Used the link here on BB. Will report back on the hotel later, but it looks super nice! - Scott

  25. Thank you -- I had no idea the dollar amount and dates could be entered using the Sub-Topic. I have more wins to document and will try it. - Scott
