  1. Okay, soon after I got a reply on this site of the loss incur for being relocated, I replied to an email from Priceline confirming the change, asking 'why'. Priceline replied on July 2nd explaining it as "Due to a system error, your reservation was confirmed at the Hyatt Regency". Now that I'm back, I am definitely glad that the error occurred. Although it would have been nice to have a 2 bedroom suite, I could not ask for a better location for this particular weekend. You are right 'anni1oak', it's just a short stroll to Taste of Chicago, the fireworks, and Grant Park...right behind the hotel. And the hotel is massive, it has everything and thank goodness for the 'Big Bar'...it rained almost all of Saturday and staying in at the Hyatt is very much like going out. The only downside; not close enough to the Red Line or Blue Line "L"...main transportation. Also, the bedroom amenities are not 4 Star quality. If I were to revisit Chicago on any other weekend, I would prefer staying at Doubletree for shopping and the nightlife (Rush Street). Thanks for all your inputs. Take care.
  2. Yesterday at 6 p.m., got a call from Priceline, the hotel that was previously booked is full, have been relocated to Hyatt Regency Chicago (NMA) on 151 East Wacker Drive. Have not stayed at either hotels and was quite civil with the "Travel Services Specialist" from Priceline, although I felt that these things should not happen. It seems to me that they are quick to charge your credit card, but not as quick to reserve the room. As I mentioned before, have not stayed at either places and the move may possibly benefit me, unless someone has the heads up on these places and a complaint should be turned in before completely agreeing to the change. Any suggestions or warnings? Thanks
  3. Day 3, 2nd at it....I think we have a winner!!! Checked the Quikbook link that was posted within the last message, couldn't find the House of Blues Hotel at that price, also Saturday was all booked. Then checked out Hotwire and saw a 4* hotel in the Chicago Loop for $95. I tried checking for each night separately and it seem to be the same hotel, but for different prices...7/2 (Friday) for $80, 7/3 (Saturday) $95, 7/4 (Sunday) $81, if book all nights separately, it would have saved me about ~$20 (after taxes and fees). Kept this option in mind to fall back on. Raise the bid a little and went with the same strategy as before... $70 Loop/Grant Park, rejected... $73 added NMA, accepted after the 15-minute wait. Doubletree Guest Suites Downtown Chicago North Michigan Ave 198 East Delaware Road 4* NMA for 7/2-7/5 Subtotal: $219.00 T & F's: $41.02 Total: $260.02 Has anyone stayed at this hotel before...whatcha thoughts? Thanks many. Ciao
  4. Took my chances on a 2.5* spot, here is what came about... BID $45 on NMA, rejected... RE-BID $50 on RNA, rejected... RE-BID $55 on Loop/Grant Park, rejected... RE-BID $60 on Lincoln Park (no 2.5*), rejected... No luck today, will try raising the bid in 3 days or look for other options. Thanks for your help. Ciao
  5. Hi. Tried the bid suggestions that was posted earlier, but none was accepted. When I was bidding $50-65 for a 3*, instead of giving the results right away, they had me check back in within 15 minutes or call an 800 number to get the answer. What would be the bidding strategy if we went with a 2.5* or do you think I should wait and try a higher bid for the 4 & 3*'s? Your help is appreciated.
  6. You mentioned 4 re-bid zones, I only found 2 re-bid zones without 4* hotels. Am I not looking in the right place on this site... http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?act...=ST&f=216&t=159 Also, how updated is the list of hotels? Thanks
  7. I would really like to get a 4*...settling for a 2.5* would be the last option. I'm hoping to get a 4 or 3* in the NMA or RNA or Loop-Grant Park area below $60. Does that sound reasonable? Thanks
  8. Holiday weekend, Taste of Chicago, a couple of conventions downtown... Any help would be appreciated.
  9. Started with 3* for $20, rejected... Then, 2.5* for $25, given option to add $6 to each night to be accepted, didn't buy in... Then choose a 2* for $25, accepted. Hotel is located on Fannin Street, next door to the Reliant Stadium and the new Metra Rail, great for downtown transportation...did not use, did not know operation times. Through Priceline, I've noticed bidding on a 2* hotel at a low bid, if a Homestead Studio Suites is located in the area, you will most likely get a room there with one bed. If two beds are your goals, try booking at a location in that town that does not have Homestead Studio Suites. GOOD LUCK!!!
