  1. Thanks! I'm sure we'll have a good trip and I am happy to have the reservations made and out of mind for now. I've definitely learned a lot from this board and will try to utilize it as a resource in my future travels!
  2. I was not familiar with rebidding, but read the link and now understand the concept. It really makes it a lot easier to submit many bids and figure everything out. I ended up using the rebidding strategy with 3 stars and adding additional zones starting at $55 and increasing by $5 each bid. I ended up getting a bid accepted for $75 at the Holiday Inn which was as high as I was willing to go. But a slightly nicer place will probably keep my wife happier. Thanks for all the help. My last question is if there is a general consensus on the time frame before the booking date that is best to bid. Is there a sweet spot where prices are lower or does it not matter? thanks!
  3. I tried a $50 bid for 3*and a $40 bid for 2* but neither was accepted. I'll probably try again in a few days with slightly higher bids.
  4. Thanks for the replies! I was hoping to catch a bus to get to the train station. It looked to me like route 194 would go from baggage claim at the airport to right downtown near the train station. However, its a good point that if there is no airport shuttle then I'd probably have to drop $ on a taxi and might negate the cheaper starting hotel rate. I could definitely spend more if need be, but between the airfare and the train ticket I'm just looking for a place I can save a bit of money on the trip. I've used HOTWIRE before once (stayed at a Fort Lauderdale Extended Stay America which wasn't that bad in my opinion), but have yet to try PRICELINE. I can read the general tips on this forum, but if anyone has any specific advice for Seattle (specifically around the airport area) that would be appreciated as well! thank you
  5. Trying to figure out what 2* by SeaTac might be. Amenities are laundry and kitchenette. Only $36 for 9/19-9/20. I'm flying in at 10 PM and leaving at 8 AM to catch a train down to OR so don't need anything fancy, but don't want to be in a bad part of town either. Any help/advice appreciated thanks!
