  1. Received on first bid, including Downtown Disney and Sea World I-Drive areas. Happy enough, but now wish I'd started with a 3.5* and bid of $45 or $50 in hopes of the Doubletree or Embassy Suites.
  2. Just a PM with the reasons... that's all I'm asking...
  3. The Comfort Suties Perimeter Center doesn't show up on the Hotwire-Georgia list. How did you make the connection with such certainty?
  4. Since you don't have much time, I'd try a few low bids starting with Buckhead, adding Perimeter, then maybe adding Peachtree Corners if you don't mind potentially getting stuck in the Holiday Inn Select... there are some really good properties in those zones, mostly pretty decent ones, and a couple of dogs, but I doubt any would be unacceptable in the $35ish range. You could also try bidding for a 4* in the $50 range, then dropping to a 3.5* but dropping your bid, then dropping to a 3* and again dropping your bid. If you don't get any of these, the Hyatt Place for $49 is still a solid deal for a nice, big, clean room with a big tv and free continental breakfast. You might also want to make a refundable backup reservation right now in case you can't win any bids and the HOTWIRE options run dry the day of.
  5. Almost certainly the Hyatt Regency Downtown. Parking over 6 hours is $27 with no in-out privileges, but there are several open-air lots in the area that go for $5-10. I normally use the one one-block west which is $5 most non-even weekend nights.
  6. $49 3* Buckhead Smoke Free Rooms Business Center High Speed Internet Access Hyatt Place Buckhead $39 2.5* Perimeter Fitness Pool Laundry High Speed Internet Unknown, but given that the Comfort Inn goes for 3* in this zone, I'd be leery $44 3* Perimeter Fitness Pool Business Center Internet Comfort Inn Of the three listed, the Hyatt Place Buckhead is by far the best value and safest bet. Other good options in the Perimeter zone during on those dates would be: $48 3.5* (Perimeter) Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Business Crowne Plaza Ravinia $53 4* (Perimeter) Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Business Westin North Perimeter If you're looking for safe, clean, large room, plasma tv, breakfast, free parking, etc... I'd go w/ the Hyatt Place. If you're looking for a more full-service upscale property but can do without free breakfast and parking, I'd go with the Westin North Perimeter.
  7. Is it possible the property actually canceled your reservation and notified hotwire since they were seen as your travel agent? The property may have had any one of a thousand reasons to not have a room available, but should have walked you to another property when you arrived. If they did it simply to free up availability for a more profitable customer, that's low and probably breaks their terms & conditions with Hotwire... but sadly it wouldn't surprise me either.
  8. Does your listing also show Smoke Free? I'm seeing "Smoke Free, Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access". This makes it a very close, but not exact, match for the Hyatt Place. If it were certain as the Hyatt Place I'd say jump on it, but since it's not a lock you might not be comfortable risking it. Since it's not for certain, you may want to consider the 4* for $53/night listed with "Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis" which is almost certainly the Westin North Perimeter. You'll have to pay for parking and breakfast, but it's almost certain, a better property than the Hyatt Place (though likely a smaller room), and a MUCH better property than some of the other unknowns that are passing for 3* in this area (Holiday Inn Select recently downgraded to 3*, Comfort Inn/Suites, and a converted Wyndham).
  9. Can you list dates, all amenities, and number of rooms/adults/children searched? Without knowing the details, it could be Hyatt Place or Staybridge Suites of the properties previously reported, or something new.
  10. Any chance of Atlanta ever getting added?
  11. Parking rate is $28/night, but I called the front desk manager and had them add my SPG number just so I could see the res in my SPG account... ended up getting a 1-bedroom/1.5-bathroom suite... that more than offsets the parking rate since the suite they gave me goes for $600/night if booked on the SPG website! I know status isn't normally recognized or supposed to be recognized for opaque bookings, but I'd suggest anyone with status try to add your account info ahead of time and hope for the best (but not be disappointed if it doesn't work).
  12. 4 star hotel in Downtown Atlanta Area - $140 Amenities: Shuttle, Fitness, Pool, Restaurants, Business Center, High Speed Internet Hyatt Regency 3 star hotel in Hartsfield Intl Airport ATL - $67 Amenities: Shuttle, Fitness, Pool, Restaurants, Business Center, Laundry, Golf, Tennis I doubt this is Embassy Suites... no Suite or Comp Breakfast listed 4 star hotel in Perimeter - $59 Amenities: Fitness, Pool, and Restaurant Westin N. Perimeter 3.5 star hotel in Downtown Atlanta Area - $65 Amenities: Smoke-free, Fitness, Pool, Restaurants, Business Center Westin Peachtree 3.5 star hotel in Hartsfield Intl Airport ATL - $71 Amenities: Shuttle, Fitness, Pool, Restaurants, Business Center, Laundry, Golf, Tennis Sheraton Gateway 3.5 star hotel in Perimeter - $65 Amenities: Fitness, Pool, Restaurants, Business Center, High Speed Internet Crowne Plaza Ravinia 4 star hotel in Hartsfield Intl Airport ATL - $73 Amenities: Shuttle, Fitness, Pool, Restaurants, Business Center, High Speed Internet Westin Airport or Hilton Airport (identical listed amenities) You could easily get the Hyatt Regency Downtown (your prefered property) for nearly half (showing $73 right now) by searching either 2/2 or 2/0 adults/children. I doubt you'd get hassled, but you can always have 2 or 3 in your party wait outside or elsewhere in the lobby while you check in. The Hyatt Regency Downtown is a very good property, but maybe not the best value given some of the other options and depending on the nature of your stay. Since you're willing to consider the Perimeter area, both properties listed (Westin & Crowne Plaza) in that zone are great deals ($53 & $46 if searched 2/0). If you're looking for truly higher end property, both the W Midtown (4*, Midtown, $102) and Grand Hyatt Buckhead (4*, Buckhead, $102) might be better choices, but neither are rock bottom prices for those properties. You might also want to consider Priceline... all of the 4* properties mentioned can be had in the $40 - $80 range (not sure if the W has been reported) and there are plenty of empty zones to use for rebids.
  13. July 4, 2009 - July 5, 2009. 1 room, 2 adults, 0 children. 3.5* Atlanta (Downtown) - Westin Peachtree Plaza - $63 Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center
  14. My bet on the "3* Buckhead: Amenities- fitness, pool, business center - $54" is the Atlanta Buckhead Hotel... I'm not aware of the restaurant being closed or under renovation, but it's possible. Not a safe bet, but a guess.
  15. There are no 3* properties reported for Duluth, but a 3* listing complimentary breakfast and laundry for under $50 sounds a lot like a property that might not truly deserve 3* and that you might not be very happy with. As for the distance, depending on where in Duluth you're located it would be roughly 15 miles to the intersection of 285 and 400 (what is commonly considered the center of the "Perimeter" community. I'd say the Perimeter 3.5* is a much safer bet in terms of the quality of the property itself, but that doesn't take into account the location itself. Where is it exactly you're looking to be close to?
  16. The Duluth property has not been reported yet. The Perimeter property is not an exact match but likely the Crowne Plaza Ravinia... could possibly be The Westin North Perimeter, which has been reported with those exact amenities, but has also been recently upgraded to 4*. Depending on the price difference, this property is likely a much better choice. Personally, I would be skeptical of any unreported 3* showing complimentary breakfast... if you know what you're getting it's one thing, but if not, several Comfort Inns, Comfort Suites, and similar properties that have traditionally been offered as 2* and 2.5* are starting to be offered at 3* in more and more markets. This would be an unwelcome surprise if I were bidding on a 3* and actually expecting a 3* quality property. I hope this trend doesn't continue as it dilutes Hotwire's star rating credibility and deviates from somewhat consistent industry standards.
  17. I don't think it's been reported, but probably Sun Suites, Comfort Suites, or possibly Suburban Extended Stay in Buford.
  18. I just got The W Midtown Atlanta the night of June 20 in that region with the amenities listed above, so I'd say that's a pretty safe bet. It's the same amenities that were listed when it was still the Sheraton Colony Square, with the addition of SPA. When researching, remember, this isn't the VERY new W Atlanta Downtown (which I was thinking it was when I booked) but still a great property at a great price. I, personally, would take it or the downtown 3.5* over the Holiday Inn on Andrew Young any day of the week... the savings would have to be substantial (50%) and the stay would have to be business or somehow related to a braves game for me to consider that Holiday Inn... I wouldn't take my wife there on a date. If you're looking for romantic, the Hilton, Sheraton, or Wyndham would be adequate, but the W would be more likely to really impress.
  19. That's a nice property, especially if you're not looking for something romantic. It's on the west side of GA 400, so probably not walkable to most Buckhead destinations, if that's a concern.
  20. Booked the 4* Midtown - $76 - Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Business Center, Tennis, Spa. Was indeed The W Atlanta Midtown. Anyone happen to know the parking rate? It's not listed anywhere on the property's website, though one tripadvisor review said $30/night :) Also, does anyone know if The W restricts use of special amenities (mainly The Acura Experience) on Hotwire stays? Thanks!
  21. I know it hasn't been long, but can anyone help? I'm hoping to book in the next couple of hours, especially since my primary choice has already jumped $14 - $16 (depending on what browser and whether or not I'm logged in) in the last 2 hours. Mainly, if any one is confident that the 4* Midtown is or is not the W Atlanta Midwotn, please let me know. Thanks!
  22. I did not book a hotel for this date, but from other recent wins it looks like it's the Westin Perimeter that's been upgraded back to 4*.
