Started with the PRICELINE link from here at $51 - got a +17 offer at $56 and worked my way up to $65 winning the bid.
After it's been a while, I went for a rental car once again - smaller airport PA - so I started with a bid of $19 (had only one day left) - got a counter offer for $23 - and took it, since it beats any price I found else where.

The hotel is called Holiday Inn Express Harrisburg East, but it's part of Harrisburg (4021 Union Deposit Road) - got it with the first bid for a 2.5* in the Harrisburg central zone.
I started with the PRICELINE link on top of this page as always ...
Saw a few wins in the last days for $48 on the calender for this region - so I started with $45.
Almost disappointed that my first bid of $45 got accepted ... ;) ... where's the fun of re-bidding?
Used the PRICELINE link from this website - started with $45 (received + $7 offer) - got it with next bid for $47.
This one was more tricky than I usually get my rooms:
I really wanted to get the Residence Inn in Uptown Albuquerque as it has free breakfast and internet and I had to stay for several nights. So I started with $41 - but didn't get any counter offers until $53 - and finally won the Sheraton for $61.
They had a big veterans meeting going on here, so maybe this is why I didn't get anything lower.
Anyway - although the hotel didn't have free breakfast nor paid internet (was $10/day) it was nice and clean and located next to quite a few restaurants and shopping centers, and still close enough to jump on a freeway for all our daytrips.
Started with $35 through this PRICELINE link (got a +$15 offer) and went it $1 steps just see how low I can get - but seems like $38 was the lowest rate.
As there are no rebidding zones for Las Cruces I researched the other recent winning bids on here.
Saw that a few were lucky for $38 with the Best Western, and another with $45 with the Springhill Suites. As I personally prefer the Springhill Suites I started with the PRICELINE link from within here and went with $45 - and won it.
Works perfect for me as I like the Marriott breakfast buffets.
Cheers,
Georg
Back on the road again ... heading out west.
Started with $41 and tested Little Rock for 3* in downtown and west. Got lucky at $49 with the Hilton Little Rock MedicalCenter.
Booked through the PRICELINE link.
Hope this helps somebody else,
Georg
Back on the road again ... heading out west to NM.
Started with $57 and tested downtown in steps of $2 up to $71 - no luck. When I checked HOTWIRE there was NO hotel listed in downtown. I finally figured CMA, which was in town draws a crowd - lol.
So I tried the airport - started with $46 and got lucky at $53 with Hotel Preston - nice hotel, though internet is $10 extra.
Booked through the PRICELINE link.
Hope this helps somebody else,
Georg
Started (as always) through the BetterBidding PRICELINE link - this time with $61 for a downtown White House 3-1/2, got a +15 deal offer,
rejected this offer, and got accepted with $65.
Right around the corner for my summit at K street. The savings will cover parking - hopefully ;-) ...
Cheers,
Georg
Happened to go to DC again - got (almost) the same deal as a couple of weeks ago.
Started with the BetterBidding PRICELINE link with $45, and worked my way up in +$2. Got a +15 deal offer from $49 onwards.
Got accepted with $57 this time - just two bucks more than last time.
Lookig forwards to the complimentary "cooked to order" breaksfast again - this was delicious last time.
I'll take my family (again) with me - with three kids, I usually pay $57 just for breakfast!
Cheers,
Georg
Started (as always) through the BetterBidding PRICELINE link with $45, and worked my way up. Got a +15 deal offer from $47 onwards, but of course tried on my own in $2 steps. Got accepted with $55.
Sweet deal, as complimentary "cooked to order" breaksfast is part of this :)
And out there you don't have to pay for parking either.
Cheers,
Georg
Started from 41 in steps of $2 - got it with $51
Used your PRICELINE Link...
As always I used the PRICELINE link - started with $50, $51, and got it with $53 bidding on Alexandria + Arlington as my preferred areas.
Good luck,
Georg
A friend just tried getting a 4* San Mateo room for 7/20 and was denied at $53 and then $60. :)Is there any information on how the prices are affected at PRICELINE?
For example, do our successes drive the price up? Or, do "they" monitor boards like this and adjust?
I just got it for $61 from 7/14-7/18/09 (see my other SFO post for details) - locked in hotel rates change with days ...
Just got the San Mateo 4* Mariott for $61.
I have to say I wanted to try this location for this trip - it's convenient for me (I have a rental) to reach all the location I'll have to go to (East Bay etc.) and the pictures after the renovation really look nice.
So I started with $41 just out of curiousity - as it's the only 4* in San Mateo, I went in $2 steps up to $61.
Got an increase offer at $51 (+$14) and at $57 (+$17 ... ;-) strange ...)
I've seen it booked for $53, but prices vary with days. Anyway, I still think it's a pretty neat deal compared to the $206 through direct PRICELINE booking.
Will report more once I'll be there, and hopefully a few other wins (will be traveling the westcost for two weeks)
Happy bidding,
Georg
I've used priceline on numerous occations in the past - always travelling with THREE kids - never had an issue - when we were with Mariotts, they usually gave us an extra spacious room so that the crib (we have with us) easily fits in. We never felt being "second rated" customers.
Actually the people at the front desk don't see your rate - they just know that the room is "prepaid" - I've been told that on numerious occations.
Happy bidding,
Georg
Checked HOTWIRE first and saw a 3* for $56 - so I started with $41 on PRICELINE, rebid with $43, was offered the +$13 deal, which I kindly rejected ;-) ... next bid was with $45 and accepted by Mariott's Courtyard at the Airport.
We don't mind to sleep close to an airport, the kids love planes, and probably make more noise than any airplane ...
Once again I used the PRICELINE links from this forum,
happy bidding (and hopefully posting of success results)!
Cheers,
Georg
Thanks to happening's post here, I tried my luck and started with $40, was hoping for the Residence Inn, but was rejected. I then did a rebid with $43 and got accepted by the Naples Holiday Inn.
Typical midclass hotel - very nice lobby, rooms are standard, a little bit older, but ok, at least they have a fridge in the room and you don't have to pay for internet or parking.
And of course I used the PRICELINE links from this forum :-)
Cheers,
Georg
After doing my "homework" I started with $65 at 3.5* for Foggy Bottom - been rejected plus offered the +17$ deal - declined it and rebid twice - finally got a 4* for $69 ... that's the way I like it ;-)
Happy bidding and good luck to allow fellow bidders out there!
Was bidding on 3* hotels for a few days now (always through the PRICELINE link from here ;-) ...) and finally got lucky with $93 in Cambridge.
For anybody else trying to book during these days - there's the USGBC GreenBuild2008 going on from Nov. 19-21. Last year this conference and expo drew some 25k visitors to Chicago. So you better book soon as prices will climb.
I initally tried to find a 3* in the Waterfront Convention area, as someone has been lucky with a 3* there before. Anyway I ended up adding Quincy Market and Copley Square, and finally Cambridge to stay close enough to down-town. You could also try the airport - however, I didn't.
Yesterday I got an +$22 add-on offer at $81 (bidding 3* on Waterfront/Cambridge/Copley/Quincy), today I got it for $93 after the $91 was rejected ... seems like that's pretty much the limit right now ...
Good luck to all fellow bidders,
AAD
Tried to get something in the Norfolk - Portsmouth area with more bidding options than in Williamsburg. Started at $45, worked in $2 steps - at $53 it asked me for a +15 ... I then went into Williamsburg, but with just 2 choices, I was not lucky there (tried 45, 47,49 for the 2 1/2*) ... then back again to Norfolk - went further up ... as the time advanced after midnight, it seems like the rates change ... not screen refreshs any more for next higher bids ($55, $57) before the "we are sorry ..." then at $59 the +17 question ... ignored and got it with $63 ...
Did anybody make the experience, that prices change from one-day-in-advance to same-day reservation in terms of being higher? It seemed to me, that rates that were checked before midnight were not available any more after the time advaced after 12am ...
Anyway - I think we made a good deal - the room would sell for $199 ...
Of coures I used the PRICELINE link from here :)
There's a new Mariott Courtyard in Blacksburg - they might also sell through priceline, as they do in other locations ...
Not sure if the Knights Inn would count as 2** ... should be rather 1/2* ...
3.5* DC (Arlington) Sheraton National Hotel
in Priceline Hotels - Washington, DC
Posted
Just won two rooms on Priceline from 7/14-7/15 and wanted to have one room extended to 7/16.
Called in to the Sheraton but they said there's nothing they can do.
The link to extend nights only went to the regular priced booking page asking something in the $90ies.
So I just started a new bid with the PRICELINE link from here at $56 - got again the +17 offer, so I entered the $65 my winning the bid for the previous day, and voila, got the Sheraton National for the second night for the same price - no hotel hopping required ...
