  1. Rental company is Hertz - thanks for reformatting the topic title and sub-header - I couldn't do this once it got posted - can only edit the content, not the title.

The hotel win report form has the nice helper functions - really great! But now I have even less  practice what needs to go where. Is there any way to add a small hint under the fields with an example?

    Thanks for managing this forum!

  2. Hot.wire and others were around $35/day. Tested the waters with $15/day for a Full Size - just out of curiosity, since I haven't done this for a while. Got counter offer for $33.

Started another bid with $25/day for a Standard Size - got counter offer for $31.

Rejected this - got a "one time re-bid" offer - tried $27 - got rejected and counter offer again for $31.

Since I rather wanted a Full than a Standard (they sometimes come with GPS included) I didn't mind the $2 more, so I went back into my rejected bid for a Full Size and booked it for the counter offer of $31/day.

Moderators: This may be something for others to note permanently - or maybe it is already somewhere:

If you got a counter offer, you don't have to accept it right away. It always stays in your "trip history" as rejected offer. If you open it from there for review, you can still book the counter offer, even though you rejected it originally to bid again below it.

    Cheers,

    Georg

  3. Started scouting with $50 to see if I'd be lucky - not this time. At $65 got my first +26(!) offer. So I climbed higher in small steps and got the Omni at $81. (Still less than the +deal would have been with $91)

There are just some days where you don't get these super low deals reported for other dates - but always love the gamble :)

The PRICELINE links in here are priceless for quickly jumping back into the next bid.

  5. Saw that this property was listed as the only 3* for this region - thought this might be the same listed on PL exp as a 2.5* - since PL is more reasonable in its rating.

Very good deal for the fact that breakfast is included.

Maybe you can add this property to the hotel list under PRICELINE EXPRESS?

Thanks for keeping this forum going.

    Cheers,

    Georg

Booked with the PRICELINE link from this page :)

  6. Was observing flights from VA to Toronto - ROA is absurdly expensive (to many Virginia Tech people drive up demand) - so I looked for Lynchburg (LYN), and Charlottesville (CHO), where I monitored some good deals, below 3oo. The week/day I finally wanted to book, those seats were gone - so I tried my luck on PRICE.LINE, and actually got the same flight a little bit under the original public price. Seems like that on PRICELINE some of the cheaper booking classes stay live a little bit longer.

Of course it was a red-eye, but so were the flights I originally identified as well. But paying 200 more for a couple of hours later was not what I wanted.

Offered a price of $225 and got the following counter offer that I took:

Airline Ticket Offer with Taxes & Airline Fees:  $268.66 per ticket

Airline Ticket Agent Fees:  $7.45 per ticket

    Number of Tickets:  1

    Airfare Subtotal:  $276.11

Hope that helps someone else booking airfares.

  7. Tried to extend my other bid in Alexandria for another day, since I didn't want to drive home (4 hour drive) after a late night dinner - but the Holiday Inn where I stayed was completely booked for the next days. Since I didn't want to spend too much anywhere fancy (Alexandria, Crystal City, Arlington offers came back with 59+14) I decided to look further west - Tysons Corner is not too far a drive on the beltway, so pretty happy with $49 there. Get's me faster back on the road in the morning as well.

Started my bids through the PRICELINE links as usual ...

  8. Quick research here - started with $71 (got +22 offer), next $81 (+12 offer), bid $83 - voila!

I planned to stop by a conference for a couple of days, which id held in the Marriott Wardman Park. I saw that this Marriott is often winning - so I gave it a try, at least anything would have been close by. Lucky to get the same hotel now, for which I'd had to pay 2.5x through regular booking.

  9. Another trip to Falls Church - started with $51, stepped up by $2 a couple of times, lucky with $55. The Embassy Suites is a nice hotel, and I believe they still have free parking out there - other than most Arlington and Crystal City hotels now.

Of course I used the PRICELINE link from here - it's so much easier than starting over on pricleline.com anyway!

  10. Just won the Marriott Inner Harbor for $59. After reading up on Baltimore (thanks betterbidding!) I started through the PRICELINE link with $55 for 3.5star and went in $2 steps.

    Pretty soon successful,

Quite a good deal for this location compared to $164 as shown for this location through other direct offer websites.

Hope this helps someone else in the (near) future!

    Cheers,

    Georg
