  1. We had 2 rooms here, before and including Christmas, at $75, plus fees and taxes. Definately a low occupancy time, except for 1 night when a large party checked in. The front desk pleasantly honored our request for rooms with a view of the river, although both had 2 beds and we requested that 1 have a king. No big deal. The view was great. The hotel is a strong 3 star. Kind of out of place in the historic district, but close to everything. The beds were great and all the minor problems we had were quickly resolved. Maid service was excellent. The stand out here is their fitness center, complete with an indoor pool. Internet is $10 a day. Valet is $15. Free coffee in the room. No minibar or frig. Everything in the room was recently updated and clean. We would be happy to stay here again. :)
  2. Bid over several days, hoping for a 2.5*, but was unsuccessful up to $65. Also had bid a couple of times for a 2* up to $45 with no success. My bid was accepted at $48. This property gets good reviews and was what I was expecting for my 2* bid. The lowest rate I found was a prepaid $99. I think it is a new one for your list. La Quinta Inn Macon 3944 River Place Drive Macon, GA 31210 478-475-0206 Offer $48 Rooms 2 Subtotal $96 Tax(Fee) $20.96 Total $116.96 Used the link at SavingsBarn.com to start my bid. Thanks! :)
  3. This is an older motel type property with exterior corridors. It has been recently remodeled and was very clean and comfortable for our 1 night stay. The front desk was pleasant and we had no problem getting a nonsmoking double room. The beds/linens were fine. The bath was small but adequate. No problems with temperature. Free internet and breakfast, lots of tv channels, iron, hairdryer. There was a bit of noise outside from dumpsters at an adjoining property being emptied at 5 am. We won this bid for $45. I don't think we would bid this star/zone again since we just don't like exterior corridors. There was a note on our table about a rash of burglaries at this property, even when rooms were occupied (guess that is robbery). That definately put a crimp in our ability to relax. I guess I am grateful for the warning but don't think the $20 I saved was worth the worry after I read the note. This property usually has a $59 prepaid rate. There were lots of construction workers staying there as there is still a lot of work to do on the Gulf Coast.
  4. Needed a couple of rooms before a day of after Christmas shopping. Started low and hit on the first bid. We have gotten this property several times in the past and always enjoy the stay. This is the lowest price ever and we will most likely have the place to ourselves. Here are the particulars: Offer $60.00 Number of rooms 2 Subtotal $120.00 Tax/fee $25.48 Total $145.48 As always, used the Savingsbarn.com link to make these bids. The lowest rate we found was $169.00. Thanks!
  5. Started the bid at $60. Three rebids later (increasing by $5 each time) we received the Hyatt Regency. The lowest rate I found for these dates was $164.00. Based on past history, we felt we would get this property and are pleased. As usual, we used the savingsbarn.com link. The details: Offer $75.00 Number of rooms 2 Subtotal $450.00 Tax/fees $71.14 Total $521.14
  6. This is a great 2* property. Nice and new with interior corridors. We liked it better than the Fairfield Inn that is also in this zone, and it was a few dollars cheaper. Everything worked and the beds were comfortable. Room size was good and there was a micro-frig, iron, HBO, free wireless. Bath was good and water pressure no problem. No unpleasant smells or sounds. There is an indoor pool, business center, gift shop and free breakfast. No attitude at the front desk. A great deal.
  7. Bid this over several days, as there are no free re-bids. First day $34, second day $38, third day $42-got a counter offer for $12 additional. Fourth day bid $48 and got the La Quinta that has previously been reported. I had also bid up to $70 for a 3 star, in the same zone, with no success. The lowest rate found for this property was $68, so I did not save a great deal. The lowest found for the 3* (usually downtown Marriott) was $159. I have bid Mobile several times since Katrina and this is the first success I have had using Priceline in Mobile since August of 2005. As always, used the savingsbarn.com link. Thanks!
  8. This is a new one for your list. My first bid of $39 was accepted. Here is the address: Best Western Strawberry Inn & Suites 7260 Saddle Rack Street Knoxville, TN 37914 (865) 544-7737 Offer: $39.00 Tax/Fee$13.92 Total $52.92 This is a new property with good reviews. Breakfast is included according to their website. Used the savingsbarn.com link to score this deal. Lowest rate I found for this property was $79. Thanks!
  9. Started the bid at $60, since the Bilmar Resort sometimes comes up in the zone and it had a rate of $99 for the first 2 nights of our stay. This was rejected. I added the So. St. Petersburg zone, as it is the only free rebid, and increased to $70. Rejected. Finally, I added the Clearwater Beach zone, since we would be happy with the hotels there, and went to $80. Accepted at the Sirata. The lowest average I found for these dates, for a standard room, was $159.00. We are happy with the end result. Will try to post a review. Used the savingsbarn.com link to bid. Thanks!
  10. We got this hotel again recently and had another pleasant experience. All requests were honored. This time there was a small refrigerator in the room. We also checked out the small indoor pool and exercise roon. The front desk was very helpful with directions. There is also a computer available in the lobby for guest use.
  11. Started this bid at $40 for a 2.5* in the Oxmoor/Homewood zone, rejected. Next I bid $42 and added the Hoover zone, also rejected. I was successful with a bid of $44 and upgraded to a 3* when I added the Downtown/Central zone. The rate for the Sheraton on their website is $139.00 and this is for a Saturday night. I haven't stayed at this hotel lately but it does get generally good reviews. Used the savingsbarn.com link and will try to post a review. Thanks! Offer $44.00 Tax/Fee $13.65 Total $57.65
  12. We stayed at this hotel over a Saturday night. It met our expectations for a 2*. The front desk was pleasant and efficient and we had no problem with our request for a non-smoking king. Our room was on the 3rd floor and even though it was near the elevator and ice machine we were not bothered by noise from the hall. The bed had the new linens Marriott promises. No bedpsread/comforter, just a washable heavy sheet and a nice blanket. The hotel has interior hallways and has been recently remodeled. It appeared that the carpet and other furnishings had been recently replaced. There was free internet and a free adequate continental breakfast. The bath was fine as was the water pressure. The A/C was really loud but we turned it to fan only and were fine with that. There was a good desk with a nice chair and an additional lounge chair. Pleanty of tv channels, including HBO. An iron and a hairdryer were in the room, although there was no refrigerator or microwave. Around this area are lots of restaurants, including a local favorite, Puelo's Grill. The hotel is easy to find, just off of I-40. It took us about 15 minutes to drive to the downtown Knoxville area. We would stay here again.
  13. It took several days of bidding to get this one. Started at $36 and worked my way up to $42 in $2 increments, so $40 was the last bid before success. I bid both the Knoxville East and Downtown Zones. The lowest rate I found for this property was $74. This property is a new one for your list: Fairfield Inn Knoxville East 1551 Cracker Barrel Lane Knoxville, TN 37914 865-971-4033 Offer: $42.00 Tax/Fee $14.46 Total $56.46 I got this hotel in 2005 for $38 and was satisfied with our stay. Will try to write a current review. Thanks for the service your site provides. As always, used savingsbarn.com to link to PRICELINE.
  14. Hi there. I have bid the Knoxville East zone and gotten the Fairfield Inn (on Cracker Barrel Lane) in 2005. Just bid this zone again today for a 2* at $32 and was rejected without a counter. I think I got it previously for $38 in 2005. The date I am bidding for is 4/29 (a Saturday). I will post if I get a win. The Country Inn is nice and new. Haven't stayed in the Best Western. There is a Holiday Inn on Papermill (2 1/2*) that regularly comes up for $28. It is not terrible but it seems to have a problem with mold in some of the rooms, even though they appear to be newly renovated. Good Luck.
  15. This is a pleasant new facility located just off Highway 280 at Inverness Parkway. Check-in was painless and request for non-smoking king was granted with no problem. Parking lot was only about 1/3 full on a Saturday evening but there was at least 1 bus of high school softball players there. All rooms are interior and there are 6 floors. Our room was on a non-smoking floor and was pleasantly clean and comfortable. As with other Amerisuites, there is a half wall between an area with a sleeper sofa, chair, desk and efficiency kitchen and the bedroom area. The bath sink was outside the tub/shower/toilet area. Large tv with good selection of channels and HBO, even a VCR. The pool was outside and heated (?) but we did not try it. Bed was a little soft but ok. Shower was fine with good pressure. The linens were ok. Breakfast the next morning had a good selection, even eggs and sausage. There is a coffee maker and coffee in the room, even though coffee is available in the lobby. Plenty of free convenient parking. No problems with climate control. There is free wireless in the lobby and in the room. No unpleasant noises and there is even a small lake area just behind the hotel in an office park. This is a very safe area with lots of shopping and restaurants. We have gotten this hotel 2 times recently and it seems to come up a lot. Our lowest price has been $38. The Courtyard in this area is nicer but it does not have a free breakfast.
  16. Tried to get the only 4*, the Westin in downtown Greenville. Bid up to $48 with the several free rebids, but no luck. Also struck out with a 3* up to $42. For my winning bid I started with $35 and immediately got a counter offer of a $9 increase. I added a free rebid and scored with a bid of $37. The best price I saw for this hotel was $119.00. Their website says all rooms have been recently renovated, but they are still working on the public area renovation. Very happy with the end result. Thanks for your great site. Used the savingsbarn.com link. Offer:$37.00 Tax/Fee:$11.20 Total:$48.20
  17. Got this on my first bid. The cheapest rate I found for this property was $99. I've seen this hotel and it is fairly new so I should not be disappointed. Good area and a great price. Used the savingsbarn.com link. Thanks for all the information your site provides. :) The facts: Offer $39.00 Tax/Fee $12.64 Total $51.64 The address is: Amerisuites Birmingham Inverness, 4686 Highway 280 East, Birmingham, 35242, 205-995-9242. This hotel is not on your list for Birmingham.
  18. I had tried bidding for a 2.5*, several times in the last week, up to $50. With rates for the most commonly accepted properties (Holiday Inn Select and Courtyard) being only $97 and $84 I guessed that Priceline had no rooms. So I bid $32 for a 2* and it was immediately accepted. This is for the Huntsville zone. There really are no free rebids since the other zones have 3*s (this one no longer does) and I wanted to be in this zone, even though Huntsville is not a big place. :) Offer $32.00 Taxes $11.79 Total $43.79 Bid thru SavingsBarn.com. Thanks!
  19. This facility is really how all Priceline stays should be. A brand new hotel in a great area. Everything from check-in to check-out a breeze. All interior rooms with nice, comfortable clean queen-sized beds (2). No smoking-no problem. Small but clean pool and hot tub-indoor. Adequate fitness room. Free highspeed internet-I'm using it now-with even a surge protector! Complimentary use of a computer with printer/fax in the lobby. Free parking. Complimentary coffee in room. A nice comfy chair and desk, along with another chair for reading. Good lighting.Sink outside the bathroom with good counter space. A small empty frig, iron and ironing board. No safe in the room but available at the front desk. A small restaurant offering breakfast-we didn't try it. Pleasantly efficient staff. No unnecessary noices. Good heating-a/c. Nice linens and towels. Located just off hwy. 280 at the intersection of I-459. Plenty of shopping and restaurants close by. Highly recommended.
  20. Got this on my first bid of $55. The lowest rate I found was $109. This is a new one for your list: Renaissance Waverly Hotel 2450 Galleria Parkway Atlanta, GA 30339 A very nice, true 4*, in a great location. The tax was $15.30, making the total $70.30. I will try to post a review. Used the savingsbarn.com link to score this great deal. Thanks for your continuing superior service. This hotel had not come up in a while and I was a little apprehensive about getting the other 4*. Glad we took the chance. :)
  21. Easy to find, just a block from the Buckhead Marta transit station and 2 blocks from some prime shopping at Phipps Plaza. No Priceline attitude and we got our requests with no problem. Bags arrived pronto and rooms were clean and well-appointed. Some construction outside but no noise inside. The valet is $22 per night, but, hey, this is Buckhead. Car arrived within 5 minutes each time we used it. This is a lovely hotel with superb service from everyone we encountered. The beds were very comfortable and all of our requests were met with a smile. All of this for $65. Highly recommend this property.
  22. A new one for your board: Courtyard By Marriott South Colonnade -4300 Colonnade Parkway-Birmingham (Inverness) Started the bid with $42 in the Hoover zone-rejected. Added the Inverness zone at $45 and was successful. The lowest rate I found was $69 for this property. There is free Internet access, according to their website, but no free breakfast (rare at Courtyards). Will try to post a review. Used the savingsbarn.com link to make this transaction. The tax on this was $13.74, making a total of $58.74, so no great savings. This is, however, a nice area of Birmingham and a fairly new property. Thanks for the easy to use Board.
  23. Started the bid at $55. Got a counter-offer of $15 more. Added the numerous free re-bids up to $65. Since $64 was rejected- I think we can safely assume that is the bottom dollar. The lowest conventional rate I found was $189. The Grand Hyatt is currently the 2nd highest rated hotel in Atlanta on Tripadvisor so we are very pleased. As always, used the SavingsBarn.com link. Will try to post a review since I don't remember seeing one on this site. Thanks for all of the hard work you do to maintain this great source of information on Priceline. :)
  24. Very nice, new property located close to I-65 in Hoover. Not far from the Galleria, Oak Mountain, etc.. Arrived after 6 p.m. to a sold out situation but they had a room for me. The bus with the 26 rooms booked was not so lucky-but some of them were placed with another La Quinta not too far away. Air conditioner was a little loud for me, but everything else was fine. Free high speed internet and breakfast. Plenty of everything 2*s are supposed to have. Pleasant staff and clean room, interior corridors. Paid $35 and thought I got a deal.
