  1. I ended up booking a room at the Intercontinental at $199. A friend set it up for me and said it was $109.. So I jumped on it only to find out he read the $$ wrong in a Text.. Decided not to back out since a friend of his set it up.. Should be ok.. Thanks
  2. Bid from a PRICELINE link on BB 4* Financial district $92 Rejected added Union Square West $96 Rejected added Union Square East $105 Rejected added SOMA $111 Rejected.. Any other good plan for me? Any of these four areas is ok.. Thanks..
  3. Just a note about this thread.. the original bid was for 5* Sukhumvit. Then I changed to 4* Siam square.. ended up with the 5* Amari - Siam Square (not so much a good thing, but works ok for me...) The change in title is confusing to someone reading the 1st part.. R:)
  4. Update.... This is too funny!! This hotel can be had directly on the Amari Watergate website for $151.34 total inclusive of taxes.. I overpaid by $.34!!!!!! What a fool I feel like.. haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Don't really care though.. come to think of it I want to spend some time at pantip plaza which is right across the street.. looking at the positive side of thinks.. hehe R:)
  5. I just kind blew it on PRICELINE.. I decided I would try for the 4* Holiday Inn as all the info I've read says it is good. Well I guess I bid to high to stay and didn't know about the "upgrade" potential. Got stuck with the Amari Watergate at $61 first bid. Doesn't really matter as I just needed a room for a couple nights and it will work out fine, taxis are cheap, but definitely something I wasn't expecting. This is one to watch out for.. Hotels.com has this at $70 for the same nights. Totals out to $12 higher than the priceline total. I did use your PRICELINE link though.. finally.. :) Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$61.00 Subtotal: US$122.00 Taxes & Service Fees: US$29.64 Total Charges: US$151.64
  6. I never bid for these hotels. Decided needed to book one of the event hotels and taking any chance getting another hotel would have been to inconvenient. R:)
  7. Bid $76 April 16th and $86 April 18 (just now).. Got a $22 rebid offer. Not sure if I will rebid or use Hotels.com for a hotel. Seem to be some decent prices there. Also maybe not a good idea to have a non-refundable reservation given the situation there and flying in on Airasia from hongkong... Might not get there!! haha :) Roger (if I rebid will try to use a link from this website) Sure would be nice if you had some countries or major cities segmented out... :)
  8. My stay at the Hacienda on 3/26 was fairly good, but did request a room change. The first room we got must have had the carpets cleaned that same day or possibly the day before. I'm extreamly sensitive to chemicals and my sinuses were swelling very quickly. I leaft to go park the car in the airpark-lax lot and decided i would try to move rooms when i got back. It turned out to not be to much of a problem, but i was traveling with an older person so a bit of trouble for them. But the 2nd room was good. I was in the south tower... room seemed updated and has a coffee maker and small first aid and sewing kit. I think this hotel might get more of a bad rap than it deserves. I'm sure some people have issues come up, but i wouldn't hesitate to bid on this hotel again in the $50-$58 range The http://www.airpark-lax.com/ (9800 La Cienega) parking seems to be one of the best prices for parking. When I got there the girl inthe booth came over to my car.. I should have just quickly punched the button and took a ticket before she got to my car, but... she told me the parking was full. Asked me if I had a reservation.. I told her no... etc etc.. long story short she was trying to hijack me for a Tip to get in.. I don't really think the place was full at all. I ended up getting into park, but watch this one if you try to park there. Best might be to try and make a reservation. Also they don't seem to have vans very frequently. I saw other parking vans coming 10 to 1 over this parking place. Becareful parking here..
  9. I tried $59 for 3*, rejected... then went to $53 for 2.5* and got Hacienda. Should be ok for me, just crashing for the night before for an early morning flight. I waw planning on parking the night before as you suggested. Today I flew in from Taipei and on my way out of the airport I saw the first parking on the left near the In-n-out burger was All-Star I think. they had a $69 weekly rate posted on a sign. I might park at AIRPARK-LAX which is offering a $5.95 covered parking rate via their website. (normal is $5.95 rooftop). Thanks for all help... R:)
  10. I bid $47(3/18, +$13 rebid offer), and $49(3/19, +14offer) for 2.5 star and turned down. I will probably keep trying for 2.5 star. Seems AIRPARK-LAX is a good option for parking at $5.95 per night rooftop... Coupon on the website right now for covered parking at the same $5.95. Bus service may not be as often as other parking per reviews.
  11. Any advice on future bidding? One night 3/25/08... I just want a decent hotel near LAX for a good price. I will be driving and then parking somewhere (3/26 - 4-1)... advice on the best idea for parking appreciated too. Bids so far. 2/8 - $61 for 4*, $54 for 3* 2/28 - $63 for 4*, $56 for 3* 3/10 - $67 for 4*, $57 for 3* All rejected.... Don't need a great hotel, just something decent and clean with two beds hopefully... would go 2 or 2.5* if anyone thinks they are ok... Any hotels offer free parking where I might actually be able to leave my car for 5 nights?? TIA.... R:)
  12. Hi.. I'm planning on bidding 3* Downtown.... 5 nights 3/26 - 3/31/08. I will be part of a conference group using the Marriott at Renaissance ($179) or St. Regis Detroit ($119). It seems that most bid for downtown Detroit get the Marriott, but a saw two got the Omni. Almost seemed as if the lower bids got directed to the Omni.. and slightly higher bids got Marriott.. Is there ever a real pattern like this for two hotels in the same zone? The it looks as if the Omni is not to far from the Marriott.. i think the event will have a bus picking us up at either of the two event hotels.. so if we got stuck at the Omni we would have to get to the Marriott at the pick up time. Any recommendations for my first bid? I saw someone can seem to notice going prices for certain dates.. is there a best way to notice this? thanks so much.. R:)
  13. New bids All rejected... Guess the day before is not a good idea! :) 4/6-4/7 LAX 4* $60 LAX 3* $50 LAX 2.5* $43
  14. Not accepted... Any ideas for me?? I need a hotel tomorrow night anywhere within say 30 min or so of LAX.. Don't really care where, but the closer the better i suppose. I guess i could add santa monica and up my bid? I would settle for 2.5* too.. LAX 2.5* $33 rejected (should have started at 3*) LAX 3* $47 rejected... rebid 2.5* $37 rejected Any ideas appriceated... thanks!
  15. Hey there.. a follow up from my room at the Lax Hilton On check in asked for room with king bed.. agent said not available. Offered full or two doubles i think. No big deal for me, at 5'10" don't need the bigger bed really when alone anyway. Got room on back side of hotel. Pretty quiet really. Maybe a little bit smaller than normal rooms. Rm 1371. Over all pretty good shape i'd say. bathroom small but very clean looks like maybe redone fairly recently. Looks like new tile and shower caulking..etc. I remember someone mentioning on a thread some where that internet might be free at this hotel. There is a highspeed hook up ($$) in the room and instructions for dial up on a number of services. looks like $1.00 for 60 min and .10 per min after than.. for local calls. but... I was after some effort able to get online wirelessly even in my room... not sure if it is by design. The FD agent said it wireless internet might be available in the lounge area. anyway.. i saw the (oh wow.. i just relized something!! :) I'm on another hotels network... Ok well.. lol.. play around with wireless in your room here at the Hilton and you might be able to get on... Tv is small in my room maybe 20in or so Pool was open with 3 of the spas available... I went in a spa and it was perfect temp... jets a little weak, but i liked it..:) I'm wondering if one has a hiltons card if they might get a better room just by presenting it.. I'm going to get a card tomorrow for next trip if i ever stay here again.. worth a try... cheers all.. vegas in the morn..
  16. Had bid like $30.00 for a 2.5* rejected.. Also bid $35.00 to see what would happen for 3*, rejected no counter. Bid for the Hyatt at $48.00. $1.00 more than below hoping to get it..:) Per previous poster went up to $48 to try and secure a room since I will be getting my Lexus serviced accross the 101 there. Really needed this location so I can drop my auto off the night before and get dropped off or taxi to the Hyatt. There are no Lexus dealers for 130 miles from my home... So.. Sun night LAX Hilton, Monday night at the Rio in Vegas, Tues here at the Hyatt. Two reasons for the trip.. well three... 1. I'm taking three round trip flights LAX/LAS for a free First Class round trip flight on United. Not back for $230.00 since each flight was $76.70 2. 30k service for auto in Thousand Oaks 3. The craps table!!! grin.. I'll lose way more here than the whole trip combined.. hahahah well I'll budget losing $800 i think... :) byeeeee...
  17. 2.5* LA - Warner Center - Woodland Hills Area failed up to $30. Went with the hyatt in west lake village.. next post
  18. Tried again today... First started out with my original priceline log in info. For 6/13 LAX *3 added the Beverly Hills/West Holywood zone and bid $40 again... Rejected with a $12.00 increase rebid offer. Then tried again increasing to $42.00 and added Santa Monica/Marina Del Ray zone. Accepted at $42.00 3* LAX Hilton Whats interesting about this one is that 34 hours ago I submitted these same two Zones at $38.00. Maybe their system was confused today by my just prior 2 zone LAX/BH try at $40.00. Hmmmm Anyway worked out ok... One good thing about the Hilton for me on this one is I will use the Park Air Express parking structure which looks very close to the Hilton. It is still offering a free day of parking coupon with a two day minimum. So If I pull in there Sunday 6/13 after say 7 pm I should be able to get my car out of there within 48 hours since I get back to LAX on 6/15 about 5:15. We will see if it all works out! :) Cheers... Roger
  19. Just noticed my $40 LAX bid rejection noticed include a rebid offer if I added $12.00. And I also got two seperate "Important Information Regarding Your Priceline Request xxxxxxxxxxxx" emails with different numbers for my $38.00 bid.. strange..
  20. Hello, For Sunday night 6/13, I just bid for 3* LAX and was rejected at $35. At that time was offered same re-bid for $9.00 more... didn't do it. Then bid $27 for 2.5* LAX, rejected. Then did $33* LAX adding Santa Monica/Marina Del Ray, Rejected. Then with new Info, bid $40 for LAX again... Rejected. I'm pretty flexible this night as far as where I stay. Don
