  1. If I am looking for two rooms on Hotwire...at the very beginning when I put in two rooms and then it asks for how many adults, do I put in 5 which will be the total number or do I put in 3 since that will be the most in one room? I don't want to put in five and have them think that I need five per room. Please help because I see a great deal right now but I am not sure if I should snag it up or not. Thanks...
  2. I still haven't tried this strategy yet. I was looking at a possible rental apartment but from what I've read you have to be real careful especially when the person requires you to wire money to hold your reservation. Anyway, I think I am turning to Priceline again. thereuare, you nailed it for my Boston trip on your recommendation. I want to stay in Manhattan if at all possible....we want to avoid the upper west and east sides...4* is preference but we would do a 3* as well. I was hoping for $150 to $200 originally. It looks like that may be too low. What do you think? Do you think we could get into something in the $200 to $230 range? We do have 5 people so we do understand that one of the rooms may be very tight....but at this point that is a risk we are willing to assume. If you were me, when would you start bidding? Thanks, Grant
  3. thereuare...thanks again for help on the Boston leg of my trip. I'm ready to try for the NY side of the trip. I would like to try and get a good deal now in the Manhattan area...all except the upper west and east sides I think. I would prefer to be in the Times Square or Theater district. But I would take a 4* or 3* anywhere around there. I would prefer to try for a 4* first. You had some good advice for me about the Waterfront. I will go wherever you think I can get the best deal. My cap for now is $200.00. I am a little more concerned about the smaller rooms and maybe not getting a room with two beds..but that is a risk we are willing to take. It really depends on the hotel on how they handle that, I have had some change it for me right away and the one today in Boston told me to call Priceline. I did and Priceline was very helpful in putting that request in for me. I'm hopeful that I don't get the Hudson Hotel...as I've heard they have very small rooms...but we'll take what we can get. Thanks, Grant
  4. Brilliant suggestion thereuare!!! Thank you very much. Below you will see the results.... Select 4* Waterfront... Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...rejected Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...rejected Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...rejected Bid $90, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline. rejected Select 4* Waterfront and Copley...rejected Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...rejected Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...rejected Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...rejected Bid $110, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline. rejected Select 4* Waterfront and Quincy... Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...rejected Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...accepted 4* The Westin Boston Waterfront Two rooms for two nights...check in June 7th, check out June 9th....$120.00 per room per night. I did get King beds in each room. I called the hotel and they said that there are double bed rooms available but if I wanted to change that I would have to call Priceline. They said if I want a rollaway in one of the King rooms they can do that at no additional charge. I called Priceline and they were very friendly and very understanding about my request, they called the hotel directly for me while I was on the line and put in a request for me. The hotel said that it shouldn't be a problem. So, worst case scenario, we have a rollaway. Everything worked out perfect! Thank you very much! I am ready to move onto New York now. How much do you think it will take to get two 4* hotels in Manhattan (not the upper west or east)? I am ready to start trying over $150.00...with my max being $200 for right now. Thanks, Grant
  5. The Waterfront would work for me. Lets use $130 for the limit there and give that a try. Thanks, Grant
  6. Tough question....it would be easier if I could get a deal in NY or Boston...that way I would know what type of deal to look for in the other. What is everyone's experience with 2.5 star hotels? I'm wondering if I should try a 2.5 star hotel in the Copley area before trying to shoot up around $150.00. I know I could probably get a better deal outside of the city, but then we will be paying for cab rides and inconvienced and all that..... I think I'd probably shoot for a 2.5 star hotel for a better price first, maybe with a cap of $120.00. Do you think that is doable? Thanks, Grant
  7. Wow...thank you so much for the help! I tried all of it and it worked just find, but I didn't get any bites at all...even on a 3* at $130.00. Starting to get nervous!!! Being that the trip is over a month away, would you try again next week sometime? What do you recommend at this time? Thanks, Grant
  8. If at all possible I'd like to try up to $130.00 for a 4* first...if that doesn't work I'd like to try for a 3* up to the same amount. Then if neither works I would be willing to go up to $150.00 for 4* and/or 3*. Well, I am aware that we could get a room with one bed. Hopefully if that is the case we can upgrade or get a rollaway. We are willing to deal with that. Does anyone else have any experience with getting one room with one bed and turning it into two? My wife talked to priceline yesterday and they told her that it usually was not a problem to get a room with two beds and that we could call PRICELINE for that. Thanks, Grant
  9. Could someone please help me out with a strategy to find two hotel rooms in the price range of $100-$150 for Saturday June 7th and Sunday June 8th? I prefer to try for 4* first in the Copley or Faneuil Hall area. I don't know Boston at all, the only thing we have scheduled right now is a game at Fenway Park. I'm assuming these are the two better areas to stay for that. We have no problem shooting for a 3* hotel in these areas either. We would like to get the best deal possible especially here in Boston because the front end of our vacation includes three nights in New York and I am struggling to find a good deal there as well. Thanks, G
  10. Ok, tried again tonight but didn't come up with much. I tried 4* and 3*. Either one is fine with me, I would like to start with 4 star and see if I can get anything. I have yet to bid anything over $155.00 but have come to the conclusion that its time to start doing so. My next goal is to try and find something in the $150-$200 range. Can someone help me with a strategy on this one? Thank you very much, I look forward to your response. G
  11. Thought I would throw this interesting tidbit out as well. I just called the Hudson Hotel direct becuase I've seen that they have accepted a lot of Priceline offers and I was concerned because of how small people are saying the rooms are. We have a group of five people going...one bed in one of the rooms is fine but we really need two beds in the second room. The guy I talked to said that a rollaway or cot would not fit in their standard single rooms. I asked him if I received two rooms and they were both singles if I could call back in and get a room with two beds...he said there is a price difference between single rooms and the larger rooms with two beds, I asked him if I could pay to uprade one of them if this situation arises. He said that we would have to do any upgrades through Priceline...he went onto say that he knows Priceline says that all changes need to be handled directly with the hotel but he said that was not the case. Does anyone have any information on this? Thanks, Grant
  12. Hello all, I would like some advice on trying to land a good deal for three nights in NY. I am traveling there with my wife, my brother and his wife, and my dad (5 people) on Wednesday June 4th. We will be staying until Saturday, June 7th. I am starting to freak out a little bit...the last three times I or someone from my family has went to NY we were able to get rooms in the Times Square area (4*) for $125-$150 a night. I tried a few different bids last night...everywhere from $100 all the way up to $150 and all of them got denied. I even tried a 2.5* today for $130 in several different locations and it was denied. Could some of you experts give me some advice on what to try next? I don't really care what area we stay in, we are going to see the main attractions that New York has to offer (Times Square, Central Park, Statue of Liberty, Grand Central Station, Empire State Building, etc.). I have been locked out for trying to bid again for 24 hours...I think that is up this evening. I'm not sure the best method to going back and trying again. We were hoping to get two rooms for those nights at around $150.00 a room....I would hate to go over $170.00 a night...but obviously we will if we have to. Any suggestions will help....thank you so much! Grant
