  1. Heading home to Colorado for the holidays, so was looking for a decent room since flights are going to be expensive. Originally looked at Priceline Express and saw that 4 star in Westminster was $72 a night, so I thought I could do better naming my own price. Used the PRICELINE link and started at $60 and worked my way up $1 at a time and had it accepted at $69. Not a huge win over PRICELINE EXPRESS, but still saved an additional $10 so I'm happy as its $120 cheaper than Westin website.
  2. We're driving through Houston on the way down to Galveston on the 4th and thought we'd try and stay somewhere nice Friday night. Using the PRICELINE link, I first started yesterday evening with only 5* properties selected. I started at $75 a night and got all the way up to $120 in $2 increments and never was successful. My guess is there isn't many 5* properties...as a note I didn't see any listed in the Priceline Hotel List for Downtown, but there was an option for that level of service. Tonight I decided to try again only using 4.5* instead of 5*. Again started at $75 and started going up in $2 increments. Had my bid of $79 accepted at the JW Marriott Houston in the Galleria. Looks like a great property and a nice price as its $166 on their website.
  3. Had been looking to visit Vancouver for a couple days later this month, but hotel prices have been very expensive. Decided to give the name your price a try and had good results. Used the PRICELINE link and decided to start the bidding at $140 a night. That price was rejected, but was offered a free rebid if I upped the price to $178. Figured I could do better, so I bumped the price up to $145 and it was accepted at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre. I'm really happy with this win as we're basically paying 50% of the standard rate you can find anywhere online.
  4. Had price accepted for 23/day with Alamo for Denver rental in April. Used the PRICELINE link. Originally started with 20/day for Standard size, and that was turned down. Was given a 2nd chance offer of 28/day, and turned that down, but was given a second bid on the same size so bumped it up to 24/day but still rejected. Decided to try on a midsize and again started at 20/day. Was rejected, but offered the same at 25/day, so I turned that down and was again given a 2nd bid on a midsize and went with 23/day. Very happy with this rate as its $100 cheaper than I've seen elsewhere for the same reservation.
  5. Looked on HOTWIRE and saw 4 star Downtown was $101 a night, $242 after taxes for two nights. But most of the 4 star Downtown hotels have all the same amenities, so its not easy to tell the hotel. Decided to see if I could get a better deal on PRICELINE. I started at $75, and tried bids of $78, $80, and $83 before I had $85 accepted by the Omni. I'm really happy with this hotel, and its a 4 star at basically $40 cheaper than the Hotwire price. MOD: Please fix the star level to 4. Must have missed that.
  6. Got a stay at the Sheraton next Friday night for $64. Used the PRICELINE link and started at $60 and also tried $62 before my $64 offer was accepted.
  7. Using the PRICELINE link I had a bid of $68 accepted for Paradise Point. I'm really happy with this win. I started and $65 and that was turned down and offered a higher price of $78. I turned that down and then bumped my offer to $68 and had it accepted. There are a couple things I'll have to pay when we get there (resort fee & parking) but I'm paying about 38% of what someone would pay booking elsewhere as the cheapest room I can find online is $225 a night.
  8. Won the Grand Hyatt next Friday for $58. I walk by it all the time. Its a little older, but still a fairly nice hotel. I'm happy with the price, as its $120 online. I used the PRICELINE link.
  9. I had seen some earlier posts with people around $90 for this weekend, but I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get it for that or not. I started low at $70 and didn't have any takers, I think I raised it 5 times before I had the bid accepted. Still cheaper than what I could find on HOTWIRE for such short notice so I'm happy.
  10. I had tried $65 earlier in the week and was rejected, but was offered a second offer for $17 more. I decided to wait and see what I could do this weekend. I though raising a little under half might work and sure enough it did. Thanks better bidding!
  11. The Oxford Hotel also has a spa, so it could be that as well.
  12. Just to clarify, the downtown Denver Sheraton is formerly the Adam's Mark Hotel.
