After seeing this property on HOTWIRE for $99 a few days ago, I tried a couple of iterations starting at $65... This morning I tried $80 and I knew it would take a bit more, but not much more so I added MTE and bid $82. Very pleased since the hotel is brand new and even though it's in Queens, the City is easily reached. Bid through PRICELINE link on the board. :)

Priceline more expensive than hotwire? I have to point to a previous thread where you may gain more insight as to "when" is the right time to buy/bid a hotel... Please read this PRICELINE FAQ.The prices you saw were indeed the "regular" prices. In PRICELINE follow the "name your own price" button. There is a wealth of knowledge in this site. It's never too early. It really depends on how much money you're willing to spend/save. I have booked trips as early as 10 months in advance. That appears to be the Barcley's Intercontinental. Please use this HOTWIRE link to make your purchase should you chose to go this route. Value is relative. BUT for NYC this is an excellent price IMO.You may be able to win this hotel using Priceline. I would start by bidding $110. Please use this link to bid if using PRICELINE.

Bid through PRICELINE Started with $120 using MTW, knowing that HOTWIRE had it for $145, and there was a recent $125 win. Denied, but PRICELINE countered offered with $125+$22. Added TS and won. Marathon weekend! Now I will have to run the darn thing :-) Cheers.

I stayed there this Summer and really liked it... and the free breakfast was an added bonus :)

Bid through PRICELINE Started with $59 2.5* FW; denied but was counter-offered 59+17... Added Embarcadero with a bid of $65 and was upgraded to a 3.5* :) . I am a bit bummed but that's the way PL works :). I was hoping for the HI Express. Cheers.

Checking through trip advisor (400+ reviews, 2.5 rating) this appears to be the "W"

I have stayed in this hotel twice (through their web fares) and its location cannot be beat. I am aware that it is not the nicest area, but it is so close to two subway stops and I can always walk across the queensburough bridge :-) if some of the lines are down. Bid through the board's PRICELINE link. BTW, I suspect this hotel is a 2* under HOTWIRE (breakfast and internet access). Sorry - It was the Comfort Inn
