  1. Also In my experience, I never win a bid below $110/120 for a 4*hotel during SFN week for the past 3 years (regardless of city difference). Mostly around $125-140 as accepted bid. I hope this will give you a better idea to modify your strategy
  2. Hey, me too for the SFN Chicago! I think you have checked mine previous two posts about bidding 4* hotel in Chicago for SFN 09. My friends and I didn't get anything until hitting $130. Perhaps you can try $125 with luck. I think it is very difficult to get a 4* hotel during the SFN week below $120 per night, except if you want to try 3* or 3.5*.
  3. use the PRICELINE link I help my friend to get a hotel room during the conference week, like I did before (Priceline Hotel Burnham) 110 rejected 120 rejected 130 accepted End up he got the conference headquarter hotel at the same price I got for Hotel Burnham Chicago. I bet it is because his length of stay is shorter than me. Anyway we are happy that both hotels are on the conference shuttle route.
  4. use the PRICELINE link It is a conference week in McCormick Plaza. All hotel rates are up crazy. 90 rejected 100 rejected 110 rejected 120 rejected 130 accepted Hotel Burnham Chicago, A Kimpton Hotel 4 Star Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area 1 West Washington Chicago, Illinois 60601 312-782-1111 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $130.00 Subtotal: $780.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $135.01 Total Charges*: $915.01
  5. Thanks for the info. I'm glad that the hotel will offer shuttles to the Belmont station. I drive from Iowa to attending the course training, thus it is good to avoid driving inside downtown and I can do some sightseeing.
  6. MatLab course at 230 W. Monroe, Suite 550, Chicago, IL 60606 I also think about taking the Metra, if parking at the metra station is not too crazy. I'll do some field research after checking in the hotel. Thanks
  7. I'll attend a 3-day course in Chicago downtown area. Parking inside downtown is crazily expensive and so do those parkings at downtown hotels. I initially aim at hotels in Oak Brook areas, e.g. Hilton and DoubleTree. 1st bid @ $35 and got the Doubletree in Downers Grove. I'm happy that it is still not too far away from Chicago downtown for driving, even if counting the rush hour period. And hotel parking is free. Doubletree Guest Suites & Conf. Center Chicago Downers Grove 3
  8. Thanks for all info. I'd decide to try the hotel parking for safety purposes even though a bit expensive. I'm going to drive a rental and want to save time for sightseeing and shopping.
  9. I got a priceline $50 bonus coupon (the one for PRICELINE's twitter event) to spend for hotel booking this time, 5/17-5/21. Use PRICELINE link here as usual 4* @ $50 - rejected 4* @ $55 - accepted..............The Westin Minneapolis I got at the same price as beejay from the other thread. Anyone know how much Westin charge for parking per day? I'm driving there from Iowa. Or any affordable recommendation to park overnight in downtown Minneapolis? Thanks for all information from the site anyway, good luck for others.
  10. Ok, we will be here for a big convention event in downtown. We know hotel rates will be crazily expensive. Try 4* convention center area, rejected @, 90, 100, 120, 130, 140, 150. Then try again 4* Dupont Circle - Woodley Park $90....rejected $115.....rejected $125.....rejected $137.....accepted Omni Shoreham Hotel 2500 Calvert Street Northwest Washington, District Of Columbia 20008 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $137.00 Subtotal: $822.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $132.80 Total Charges*: $954.80 The only problem is too far away from Convention Center, but the price is awesome. We'll properly take the Metro for saving money. Any suggestion for transportation? Is the area safe?
  11. A new PRICELINE user, after reading the forum about hotels in Denver downtown, I try my 1st bid. 4* Denver (Downtown) at 69 And the system immediately get me a room from Hyatt Regency Convention Center, the location I always want. Check-In Date: Friday, April 18, 2008 Check-Out Date: Sunday, April 20, 2008 Hotel Name: Hyatt Regency Denver At Colorado Convention Center 650 15th Street Denver, Colorado 80202 303-436-1234 Your Offer Price: $69.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $138.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $27.21 Total Charges*: $165.21 Though, parking will be quite something. Again, thanks for everyone who post money-saving info here for budget traveling.
