  2. Well, I am pretty shocked that I won this one, and I am a bit bummed, because I probably could have gone lower. Best rate I could find using any promotions was $63+taxes, etc. I got this one with a winning bid of $47, totaling $60.27 after taxes/fees. It was a shot in the dark since there was multiple star zones, but not multiple areas, so it was a one shot deal as I wasn't willing to stay at any of the 2 or 1 star hotels.
  3. Jeez, it took me long enough, but finally on my 3rd day, and 4th re-bidding zone, I got my hotel! I started Friday at $60, but thanks to Baltimore's amazing 9 4* re-bidding zones, I was able to inch my way up to $90 and get the win! Total charges amounted to $425.40, which was $31.83 less than I could have gotten the 4* Hilton or Monaco (I'm guessing) on Hotwire. OH, and if I were to book now on the Hotel's website, it would total $910.60... AWESOME! Over 50% off! Obviously, I used the PRICELINE links, and used past results posted here to get me a starting point.
  4. Don't worry, I use the PRICELINE link. I am looking for July 15, but I guess I'm also looking more for general strategy advice in situations like this, because I'll certainly be in this situation again.
  5. Hi, I don't often have the luxury of using Priceline, as I rarely travel, but I love this board for when I can. Well, we're flying out of Milwaukee very early one morning, and I'm trying to find a hotel room near the airport for as low a price as possible. I don't care what kind of hotel we're in, as long as it has a bed and bath, as we'll be spending under 12 hours here. In Milwaukee, all 6 zones have at least 3+ stars, which is what the Airport area (South) has; so rebidding with more zones isn't a possibility. So, I want to be able to do multiple bids using the stars. What strategy do I use? For instance, perhaps I can get a 1* for $20, but I know I can't get a 3* for that price, so do I start with just one star, or do I start with the 3*? Basically, since I am going for rock bottom, and don't care about stars, am I basically only left with bidding dirt cheap on 1* and not bothering with the bigger # stars? I have plenty of time, so bidding every 3 days is ok, I am just wondering how to maximize this effort. I tried searching FAQs and general tips and didn't find anything exactly like this question. Thanks for any thoughts.
  6. After reading a few other threads, I think I figured it out on my own pretty well. I first tried NMA 4* for $80, was rejected. Tired NMA + Midway 4* for $85 was rejected. Tried Mil/Loop 4* for $80 was rejected. --I was offered to raise my price by $22 to try again. Instead I tried Mil/Loop + Midway for $85, and BINGO. Got the Hyatt Regency Chicago for $85 + taxes, fees = $105.52. Glad I didn't re-bid by adding $22. I love the re-bidding zone of Midway, what a great deal! BTW, I used the PRICELINE link above. Anyone have opinions on the Hyatt?
  7. Looking to spend the night near the Ford Theater in the Theater District downtown. We'd be willing to walk up to a mile, so I think either of the two downtown districts would be fine, the Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area or the North Michigan Avenue/River North. Best deal on Hotwire seems to be 4* in the Loop for $129. I would love to get something with a Maximum bid of $110. If anyone has bidding strategies for Priceline, I'd appreciate it. 3* would be fine, most likely.
