Hi all, The "tennis" amenity threw me off here. :) This is what I'm seeing for Sept 23 - 26, 2008, 3* with a 4/5 rating on TripAdvisor, offered at $136: Hotel Amenities Restaurant(s) Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary. Laundry Facilities <amenity names only please... not descriptions> High-speed Internet Access Guestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply. Tennis Nearby Property is located within walking distance or a short drive of at least one tennis court; an extra charge typically applies. Any guesses? Thanks in advance!
  2. A quick follow up re: the shuttle situation. I received an email from Hotwire today to this effect: ======================= This email is regarding your reservation with the Holiday Inn Winnipeg South, Hotwire Itinerary Number xxxxxxxxxx. We regret to inform you the hotel is unable to offer the convenience of an airport shuttle, one of the amenities listed when you booked this reservation. We periodically review our representation of our hotel partners' amenities for the most accurate and up-to-date information and have made a change to our Web site to reflect the hotel's current offerings. ====================== So, I would take this to mean that the shuttle amenity will no longer be listed for the Winnipeg Holiday Inn South.

Marlborough Hotel ~ 2.5* ~ Feb. 16/17, 2008 Amenities listed: Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) This was a very brief stop over (arrive 9:30 p.m. leave 5:30 a.m.) so no chance to try the pub in the lobby (but it exists), nor confirm the presence of a fitness centre/pool. They do have an on-demand shuttle. The hotel room is extremely tiny. It holds the bed, dresser and that's about it. The whole hotel is very old, but everything worked. Every other floor is a smoking floor, and unfortunately the ice machines are only located on every smoking floor. I thought I was going to vomit when I had to wander the smoking hall to find the ice machine. But, the non-smoking floors do not smell. It feels a little seedy, but I did wander two floors alone looking for the ice machine and I lived to tell the tale. :) It did serve the purpose of a bed to crash in for a few hours, but I would not choose to stay here for anything longer. If you want a hotel you can thoroughly enjoy staying in, stick to the 3* options. They're all great.
  5. Just catching up posting some old bookings. The price is *usually* $69, but on one occasion was $89. The following amenities are always shown: Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) High-speed Internet Access Sometimes the following amenities have also been listed: Suite Golf Nearby Customer Favourite This hotel is 100% smoke free. This is a fabulous hotel, always a suite with mini fridge, microwave, sink area and an excellent restaurant/lounge and excellent staff. All the Winnipeg 3* hotels are great. You pretty much can't go wrong if you stick to 3*!

Winnipeg Holiday Inn South ~ 3* - April 24/25, 2008 (also previously booked Jan. 24/25, 2008 for the same rate) This hotel features the following amenities: Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access I was actually expecting the Airport Hilton which shows the same icons (and occasionally shows "suites" and "customer favourite" but sometimes doesn't) and is usually the same price ($69 or $79). I've stayed at this Holiday Inn before and was told by staff that they did not have a shuttle. This being the 3rd time I've received this hotel with the shuttle icon, I finally made a big deal about it to Hotwire and they called the hotel on our behalf. The hotel claimed that shuttle service exists, but must be booked at least 24 hours in advance. I'm surprised no one at the hotel ever mentioned this to us, but instead of saying, "You would have needed an advanced reservation," simply said, "No." Other than this issue, I have nothing but rave reviews for this hotel and have found the staff and the rooms to be excellent. I have always ranked this hotel as a "customer favourite." It's faaaaar from the airport, but if the shuttle in fact materializes then at least I won't be paying for the taxi again, and I will have a positive Hotwire customer service experience to report! I'm sorry that I did not book through this site before, but I will from now on! EDIT: I did just receive an email from the General Manager of the hotel who explained the shuttle availability
