ricksteric: I too am doing a cruise (1-DEC) and had been looking at the Normandie for some time now, but was leary of it based on some bad reviews. Could you please post back on your stay and the hotel quality. 3.5 *'s is great for that price.
Ahhh - I did not realize there were 2 seperate hotel lists for San Juan, but I see the second one now. Is that the list I should be using or do I need to look at both ? This would be the SJ ISal Verde Holiday inn then ? Travelocity has that one for $150. The price does seem high, so I am going to keep looking around. Thanks

Back from my FLL trip. I liked the Sheraton Yankee Trader. It is right on the beach and has 2 pools. It is also a short walking distance from a bunch of restaurants and shops and you can even catch the Water Taxi ($5/day) 1 block away. The staff was very friendly. Due to some previous connections we were able to get our room upgraded to a suite with an oceanview, which was spacious and on the 14th floor. One minor problem ocurred when the tub faucet came off and water came shooting out. It was repaired within 30 minutes and Sheraton offered us a free movie or $15 in Fun Bucks for use at the Deli or restaurant. Would definetly stay there again :)

I had never booked a hotel on Hotwire before, but after reviewing BetterBidding, I was pretty certain I would get the Shertaon Yankee Trader - and I did :) Lots of useful information on here and it's a great service ! FYI: The rate for the 3.5* FLL Beach seems to be hovering around $60, the last few days.
