  1. Well I found out I could get a block rate at the Mark for around $200 for my friend's wedding, and so it made no more sense to bid. Thank everyone for your help. Remember to use the Hotwire and PRICELINE links for your searches.
  2. I noticed that Expedia's unpublished rates are "powered by Hotwire." It uses the same amenities descriptions. I also noticed there is not a perfect correlation in the hotels it shows. For example on Expedia I found thise USE 3* for $145 - Smoke Free Fitness Center Restaurant Business Center High Speed Internet This does not show up on the Hotwire search. Most of them overlap (with Expedia being about $6 more). Does anyone have any ideas what this could be? Also I use the HOTWIRE link for my searches. Is there an Expedia link? Thanks.
  3. I'm up to $185 and still nothing, 4 stars start in the mid $200's so at this rate I am starting to think there is no supply at Priceline for my dates.
  4. I went through the PRICELINE link and retried up to $175 for 4* in SOMA, Financial, USE and USW for those dates. Still no luck. I will start a new search based on 3.5* in the areas that have attractive 3.5* hotels. Does anyone have any suggestions"? Should I wait another week or two to see if hotwire and LMT prices come down?
  5. I have been slowly increasing my bids for these dates. I have hit $165, and that includes adding USE, Japanese/Cultural and SOMA. I then also did a 3.5* and up on USE and USW at $165 and got no hits. I am not sure why I am not having nearly as much luck as others here for this area and at lower level hotels to boot. Should I wait another couple of weeks...does anyone have any suggestions? I want to be as close to USW as possible.
  6. 4* DC (White House-Capitol Hill) 90% of hotwire customers recommend 4/5 on tripadvisor Fitness Center Restaurant Business Center High Speed Internet Spa I used the HOTWIRE link from here to book it (yes, I finally remembered to click from here for once :) )
  7. I bid for 4* up to $123, downtown-pike place, got rejected I bid for 3.5* up to $123, downtown-pikeplace, got rejected Added 3*, downtown-pike place and lowered my bid to $106, and was accepted. Expedia lists the Red Lion as a 3.5* (as do a lot of other sites), and at a rate of $219 for that night, and so I am happy. It was nice to get a higher end 3* hotel for that night. I know people are getting 4*'s for less than $100, but for that night it has been impossible. Overall I am happy. (FYI, for future reference, the Red Lion did NOT show up on my general Priceline search before bidding as an available hotel, which just goes to show you the limited usefulness of that technique to limit down hotels.)
  8. As I needed to stay in the same place for both those nights since it is a vacation and we didn't want to move around a bit, I ended up booking the Best Western Pioneer Square traditionally since I had a gift certificate.
  9. I tried bidding up from $100 all the way through $115. I got rejected each time. At $115, I got the $22 increase counter-offer. Since $137 was the same price that the Delta was available for on the major hotel discount websites, I figured priceline had nothing to offer in Victoria. I went and found this coupon for Orbitz, "summervin" which took 15% of a qualifying hotel if booked between 6/1-8/15 if paid with a Visa. Luckily the Delta fit the bill, and I ended up getting it for $117, or almost equal to what I was bidding on Priceline.
  10. Could people start including hotels that had resort fees. Then the pinned hotel lists for hotwire and priceline could have a notation that that hotel has resort fees. In the alternative there could be a section based on this. (BTW for my other open thread, I am still working on that and will update it when I have reached a final decision).
  11. See that's what I mean, my days don't make sense compared to what others are getting on here. Maybe it will work itself out in the next few days. I really thought I would get something by the time I got to $100, ah well. I'll keep bidding/analyzing and update this thread when I make a final decision.
  12. I got the Grand Westin. the amenities were a perfect match to your hotel list, and the tripadvisor rankings and numbers of reviews matched perfectly as well. It was an easy pick thanks to your forum. Amenities: Suite, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Kitchenette, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business The date was 7/27/09
  13. I updated it, I never ended up going on that trip due to an illness. (Never did find out what hotel)
  14. So far I have bid $86 and $92 and failed. I see others getting great deals during the weekdays that are lower than my initial bid. Is something going on that week? On hotwire I have seen the Pan Pacific range from $113-$125. Is there a specific day of the week or time that works better? I just can't figure out why the week before and the week after, people are getting in the $80's.
