I would like to comment on my actual experience at the hotel. The room can be considered a suite in that there is a microwave, sink and mini fridge along with a sofa. However, there are no dishes, no dish soap, no silverware or dish towels, items which you would find at a Residence Inn, for example. I did book my stay using the HOTWIRE link on this site, per usual.

The Courtyard has a combination of suites and regular rooms and since the hotel chooses the room, I may not get a suite, which i wanted for a long stay like this. Also, had it been the Hyatt Place, I would have been able to get free breakfast being a member of their Gold Passport program.

I did not book using this site or any blind bidding sites, utilizing my Chase points instead to be assured I'd get a property with 24 hr shuttle service and free parking. Sorry this didn't work out for me as the savings would have been appreciated. Thank you for your asssitance.

I did not end up booking a property for this stay.

Ended up booking directly with Hyatt for a property near Union Square as I was assured of getting a room with a king-sized bed.

I appreciate the help received. I ended up getting a "family" rate at the Intercontinental from a friend. It was a beautiful property. Not the area I wanted to stay in but the savings covered my cab fare and then some.

I think you are correct Aaron. Even though I will only be in the room from 10pm till checkout on Sunday, I would like to feel like it is a special property. The Doubletree Met would not fit the bill. I guess I will just make a reservation at one of the more desirable properties using traditional means and see what appears on Hot.wire as I get closer to the date.

I would see no point in paying $239 to PL, since with taxes and PL fees it would be more than I would pay on my own, so I suppose my target price would be something significantly below that. There were a couple of reported wins for March stays in MTE of the Intercontinental Barclay for the $130's but the bidding strategy reported was too complicated for me to decipher. I would be content with MTE, CPS and Upper East Side.

Hello. Attending a reunion event on the upper east side and need a place to sleep that night. Hoping for some luxury without the big price tag - it's not too often that we get away without our kids, and it would be great to drop an impressive hotel name while we are at the event. Is it too early to bid? We will probably need to cab it wherever we stay so I am open to CPS and MTE. The least expensive places I can book directly (and would be willing to stay) are The Westin Grand Central and the Lexington for $239. so I'd be willing to pay that for a 5 star of course!

I didn't research this and just gave it a shot at $65 (w/ taxes and fees $83.35) which was accepted on first try. Used the link on this site.

Using the PRICELINE link on this site, after three days of trying for this property, starting at $70 I finally won at $85. The price on the Sheraton's website is $139 for the same night and with taxes and fees, my total is $103.61. I didn't try any fancy techniques by adding in other areas or anything. I knew I could get the property for $106 on HOTWIRE if I had to go that high.
