  1. I wanted to add as a note that this property charges a $15 resort fee. I was a bit unhappy with this because I was not bidding on a resort, nor did I want a resort. I complained to PRICELINE, but never even recieved a response. This was by no means a "vacation resort", only acceptable because my stay was to avoid a 2am drive accross Aligator Alley. ....Just wanted to forewarn anyone who wins this property.
  2. Was trying to get close to Ft. Lauderdale airport, but several bids not accepted. I think I bid Fll area 2.5* and 3*$25 then $30, then Fll and Miramar up to $35 Tried Ft. Lauderdale West 4* up to $50 Bid accepted for $40 on 1st try for 3* Ft. Lauderdale west at "Inverrary Vacation Resort" (used PRICELINE link to bid)
  3. We finally found something that worked for us. However, I tried to find the hotel through the links on this website, but was unable to get the same deal that my husband found while surfing the web on his own. I tried. Thanks for this site.
  4. Thanks for all the help, we have decided to cancle this trip. The prices really discouraged us. We are trying something else.
  5. I was going to go to NYC for these dates, but had too much trouble finding an affordable hotel. Instead we are going to try an all-inclusive in the Dominican Republic. Could someone please hellp ID this property: 6/2/08 =6/5/08 2 adults 3.5* All-inclusive in La Romana, DR $139/room/night Amenities: Resort Food and beverages included water sports/activities included daily activities included childrens' activity program pool(s) laundry facilities tennis nearby beachfront a la carte dining evening entertainment included complimentary breakfast fitness center restaurant(s) golf nearby spa services Traveler rating 4/5 based on 140 reviews Thanks for help
  6. Thanks, good luck to you. Let me know if you have any luck.
  7. I have been bidding consistantly every 24hrs up to about $210. No luck. Why is this such an expensive time. I noticed the weekend before some wins for less than $200. I am getting discouraged. Are there conventions or is this just tourist season?
  8. Thanks, I will try this. I will post any new info.
  9. I usually start around $150 and end around $200. I feel that biddiing below $150 is wasting time, I cant imagine that anything will be accepted for mid week below this.
  10. I am using your links each time I bid. Also, is it to my advantage to bid as you have suggested to others, using 2 zones, then adding re-bid zones, then closing browser,etc..... or are my chances of being accepted the same if I just bid all four zones first and then add re-bid zones? I am bidding daily and this takes a long time. Thanks.
  11. Just an update. We did find a canclable back up at the Marcel for $209/night. The reviews seem o.k. I continue to bid up to $210 for a 4* with no luck. Will keep trying.
  12. Thanks for your help, I will keep trying. I will post any wins.
  13. We do not have a backup as we cannot find anything in our price range. We might have to raise a bit,but I think that $175, at this point, is the limit. I cannot find anything for this price either. I have now bid a 3* up to $175. I would love to have a back up but all 3* seem to be at least $300 even at airport hotels.
  14. Sorry, didn't think about that. We are flyiing into La Guardia.
  15. I will be in NYC with my husband 6/02/08 through 6/05/08 for a getaway without the kids. I have been bidding for MTE. MTW, Time Square,UM-CPS, and even MTS for 3* and 4*. I can only go up to $150 max. I have serious doubts about getting this. Can someone advise me of another area that we can stay in even if we have to commute via subway to the city. I do not know New York at all and am afraid to bid random areas as I know there must be areas we don't want to stay in. I would only be willing to stay in a 4* or maybe a 3*. Also, to appease my husband, how advisable is it to comprimise on star rating in the city? Are 2* acceptable? (I am much pickier about hotels than my husband. I think a 2* in NYC might be scary or in a bad area). I would appreciate any help from you locals.
  16. I would appreciate any help with this issue. I have reserved through PL The Drake in Chicago for May. We are taking my children. We have 2 rooms with a total of 3 adults and 5 children. I emailed the concierge and asked for help with securing a room with 2 DOUBLE beds in addition to suggestions for activities. He called and stated that this was no problem. I then recieved an e-mail from the reservations manager stating that our PL reservation allows a standard king room, but he would be happy to change it to a room with 2 TWIN beds within the same catagory. I then called and stated that I twin beds won't work, please change back to the original king room. Here is my dilema: Do I still try to get the room with two DOUBLE beds at check in or is this rude/too sneaky to override what the reservations manager told me?
  17. This is my first time using Priceline. Thanks for the info on this forum. I was thrilled with my hotel. I have wanted to stay at The Drake since I spent time in my early 20's in Chicago. I am now taking my children to see a real city. I had been bidding for quite some time and never had a bid accepted, even added 3* and the loop area, nothing accepted. I think we even went as high as $150-160 last month for a 4* NMA. I had recieved a counter offer of $113 once, but turned it down because I couldn't contact the other person we were taveling with. I tried the next day and my bid of $113 was not accepted. This time I started with $85 4*NMA, recieved a counter offer of $113. I accepted and recieved: The Drake 140 East Walton check in 5/12/08 check out 5/15/08 2 rooms @ $113 per night Total cost: $796 with taxes and fees.
