I'm looking for a hotel for high season, Sept 5-12 or approx those dates. I know TIFF is in town, which makes the rates REALLY high, but am hoping to find something Downtown Toronto, hopefully near entertainment district, 4 stars, but can go down to 3.5 if it's possible to predict which hotel. I know I'll probably be bidding a bit higher than normal... any advice on where to start and what to expect is most welcome!

Thank you. It turned out not to be a deal at all. I didn't realize about the price averaging, but I would have still expected not to pay MORE via Hotwire than directly booking with hotel. Although those dates are no long available, they most definitely were when I made my booking and for at least a few days after (I think it also included breakfast, which this does not). I had "won" this hotel at a rate of $106.09 + tax, for a total of $494.68 for the 4 nights. While I don't mind the hotel, it seems pretty decent, when I went to their website I discovered that their prices are CHEAPER than what I paid to Hotwire. Hotwire was claiming average room rate was around $260+ for this hotel, which is a complete lie. Even for a triple room, I overpaid by a bit. I emailed Hotwire, but they have not responded. I think it's false advertising and I would caution anyone bidding for this hotel in Rome to avoid getting it though Hotwire as you can book for less directly with the hotel. This was the most disappointing "win" I've ever had with Hotwire.

In the end, I decided to book directly with another hotel.

I clicked on the links, thank you. I did a search again and now I see it with the following: smoke-free, fitness, restaurant, business, laundry, and high-speed internet. I'm fairly certain it's the same hotel because it's at 70%, shows up as being 4.0 on tripadvisor, and has not such great reviews (7 of them) from Hotwire. Any ideas?

I will of course start my bidding via this site, but I need some advice. There's 3 of us traveling (2 adults, 1 child/teen), so Priceline is probably not an option. But what's our best strategy on Hotwire? I would like to be somewhere central and spend under $200. (In the past I've booked for as little as $110 in Kensington, but prices are really high right now). A hotel is showing up for $163 that's 4 stars in Kensington but I can't idenity it. It's listed as: smoke free rooms, 70% recommended, fitness center, resto, business, laundrey, high speed internet. Any ideas? It seems to have 4.0 rating on tripadvisor, but not a particularly good one on Hotwire, which makes me nervous. Any advice is most welcome.

Using the PRICELINE link from this board, I ended up bidding up to $102 and gave up. I ended up renting an apartment instead, which is cheaper.

I'm looking for a Toronto hotel, Downtown, Sept 9-16 (can be slightly shorter if need be). I'm hoping to pay $85+taxes, but can go a bit higher... 4*, or potentially a good 3.5*.

To be honest, I'm a bit disappointed as I was hoping to get the Loews Hotel Vogue, which someone else on here for for $82. I started my bid at $82 for 4 stars...rejected...went up to $86 and added a zone...rejected...went up to $88. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$88.00 Subtotal: US$264.00 Taxes & Fees: US$55.02 Total Charges: US$319.02 It's not a bad deal, but I hoped for a different hotel, as this one really should be a 3.5 star, which it is on hotwire (and not so well reviewed on tripadvisor). I would have paid more for the intercontinental or something. Oh well. I started the bids from a PRICELINE link on here.

On Hotwire for quad it's only showing 2.5 stars and under...

Victoria Hotel, Looking for August 4-6 or August 5-7 (2 nights) I'm looking for some strategy for a hotel in Victoria, 4*. It should be able to accommodate 2 kids and 2 adults. If it's a room with 2 Queen beds, the adults can share a bed and the kids can share the other. Max bid is around $100. Another possible option, is to do 2 rooms...with a max bid of $65 per night... As always, I begin my priceline bidding following the link from this site.

Update: I bid on PRICELINE for Sept 10-17 (using your links to start)... and Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel accepted my bid of $74. I started from $65 and added rebid zones raising my bid by $2 each time. Then I added an extra night at the same rate to Sept 18. A far cry from the $55 I originally thought I'd get, but a good hotel (I've stayed there before) and it's still a great rate. Just more than I had hoped for. Thank you so much!

I just keep trying! ;-) I've just found a 4* on Hotwire at $81 that is not the Delta Chelsea (I hope/think), so it might be a good sign. I did Sept 10-17...when i enter Sept 10-18, I get the Delta Chelsea... so maybe it's worth trying those dates on priceline for a lower bid & then figuring out the remaining few days later... I'll try that. Any suggestions? HUGE thanks for all the help so far, btw.

I tried just getting Sept 10-14 & Sept 10-15 first... I bid up to $72.
