  2. I'm looking for a hotel for one night only, May 26th, near MCO. I'd like to keep it around $100 or less if possible (without going below 3*). 7. Thank you!! This is so very helpful. Once we figure out which one we are going to try for, I will for sure come back and post the results. No waiting seven years this time!! Again, I'm truly grateful for your help and advice. Having even an idea or a "best guess" is makes this process a lot easier.
  8. Just about exactly 7 years ago, we were able to travel to CA. Ended up changing plans at last minute to stay with a cousin, but got to stay in beautiful La Jolla at a great place called Empress Hotel Of La Jolla. Got a good deal on our room. I'm sure prices have gone up quite a bit in the ensuing 7 years!
  9. Update: As it ended up turning out, we were able to forgo staying in a hotel as my cousin who lived in San Diego at the time let us stay with her.
  10. Thank you so much for your reply! I have not been looking at hotels for so long, I had forgotten about my previous use here and will be happy to go back and update those earlier entries! And I appreciate your point about the 35% recommendation for the one hotel - a detail which escaped me. You're right in that we would not consider one with such a low recommendation percentage. We are fairly flexible in what we're looking for; beachfront or near the beach would be a big plus, but not a dealbreaker. I would say our max budget before taxes/fees would be about $120 or so. Don't want to have to go much over $150 total if possible. Off to go dig up my CA hotel information now... and again, many thanks! I appreciate your help and am looking forward to any other suggestions you can provide as to the hotels I posted.

  13. As title says, I'm new to Priceline and trying to ramp up my learning curve as quick as possible. This site is fantastic. I've read through all the FAQs, but still looking for some help securing a hotel for one night in Santa Monica. We're looking for a 3 or 3.5 star in Santa Monica for one night, March 19th, for under $100. Is this possible? We are traveling w/ our two children, so 2 Queens would be great, but not necessary. We are not really tied to any general area of the city; mostly just interested in nicest hotel at best price. I've read that Priceline puts Santa Monica in with Marina Del Ray; and that's fine w/ us. Does Priceline also lump Venice in there too? Would like to maybe not stay in Venice but just focus on a hotel in Santa Monica or MDR area. Thanks so much in advance for any help!
  14. Thank you so much for the link to the hotel lists and the other info! So sorry I fogot to put our budget -- we are hoping to keep the one night (3/15) under $100, but would be willing to spend a little more (up to $150 per night) for the other two nights we need to book (3/20 - 3/22). Thanks again for your assistance!
  15. As title says, I'm new here and have been trying to get up to speed. Read through all the FAQs, but still any advice would be greatly appreciated! We're looking for a 3, 3.5 or 4 star in San Diego for the dates of 3/15 - 3/16 (one night) only, and then again 3/20 - 3/22 (two nights) -- don't care if it is same property. We are traveling w/ our two children, so 2 Queens would be great, but not necessary. We are not really tied to any general area of the city; mostly just interested in nicest hotel at best price. One of my main difficulties has been trying to get a handle on what hotels are considered 3 star, what ones are 3.5 star, etc. to gain maybe some idea of what hotel we could end up in. I've been reading through the Forum posts to see what the winning bids are for the different stars, but wondering if there's a list anywhere? Thanks so much in advance for any help!
