  1. I am planning to travel to Geneva, Switzerland from 17 June to 20 June. I have a reservation in a 3* hotel - Edelweiss which is the hotel reserved for the event I am attending. The rate is 240CHF which is about 190 USD. It is in a good location as I am arriving by train. I would rather pay less but as Priceline only has one area for Geneva, I am worried that I might get a hotel which is in an inconvenient location (e.g. the airport). Any suggestions?

  2. I stayed there in April of this year and my first bid of $100 was accepted. After learning of the hotel I got, I went to Trip Advisor.com and realized that not only did I bid too high, but there were some awful reviews on the site. I got over the economic disappointment and was pleasantly surprised with the hotel. The location was great, room was very nice - quiet, large for London, comfortable and in good condition, hotel staff pleasant and helpful, and last, but not least, good bathroom! I dont know why people has such problems with the separate faucets - there are surely worse challenges in life. So I would say that the hotel is well worth even the $100 I paid!

  3. What does $50+$10 bonus mean? In January of this year I made a first bid of $75 which was accepted and I got the Crown Plaza ( 4*) in Brussels. The hotel staff was amazed at what I paid as this is quite low for that hotel. The location was good, right by a metro stop and a reasonable walk from the Palace. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

  4. I just bid $100 for a 5* hotel in Prague and was rejected. I (foolishly, I think) then followed their suggestion and checked 4* as well for East but also raised the bid to $125. This was accepted and I got the Hotel Ametyst which is classified as 4*. I then reviewed the hotel on other web sites and the rate of $125 is lower than anything else. I have been to Prague twice before and I think the hotel location will be fine. I somehow then found your web site ( I forget how now - it was hours ago!) and I think I could use some advice for using Priceline. I have used their site a few times before and while I obtain "good bargains" for "good hotels" I now think that I probably bid too much. What I usually do is bid about half of what they say the suggested retail price is for a specific area and *rating. I am also confused by some comments which refer to attempting to get specific hotels - how does that work?
