  1. :)This message board has been a wealth of information

With patience & assistance from other members posts....I have now finalised LV accommodation...so thanks everyone who helped :)

Continued bidding today 4* sth or nth strip access priceline thru PRICELINE link

Started bidding south strip @101- rejected - counter offer of $147 made

then added free rebid LV Aiprort @ 103 - rejected

then added free rebid nellis @105 - rejected

then added nth strip @ 110 - rejected

Since i didnt have any other bids today for 4* thought I'd try 5* again & have a play!

Previously had gotten up to $160 & then $162 all rejected with no counters.

I knew i was close as I had read another members post who had won Venetian for same period@165.

I started my initial bid @149 Rejected,

Added a re-bid zone (Airport LAS) @155. Rejected

    Added a re-bid zone (Fremont) @159. Rejected.

Added a re-bid zone (Nelis) @160 & was Accepted for the Venetian :o

I got a shock as this price had been rejected two days before...

So i have very happy travellers who will enjoy there 1st visit to Vegas

Happy also tha i am now more familiar with the entire bidding thingy but still alot to learn!

& thanks thereuare - for making us think about 1st timers stay - extra money for a 5* didnt hurt their budget but would definitely increase their enjoymentt whilst in Vegas! :)

  2. oops forgot to answer the strip question

thought i should concentrate on the South (westin? - why do people not like the westin? - should i be avoiding this) & not nth - due to my list below! what do you think?

    Am I assuming right, that for PL that hotels in the south zone would be;

    westin

    Luxor ( i know its not a 4*)

    MGM

    M/Carlo

    NYNY

    p/holly

    & north zones would be;

TI - which i dont want

    Caesars?

where does Paris fall - i noticed it is not on your list of PL hotel list

  3. thanks mrxow & thereuare for all your assistance

mrxow -thanktfully i now know about henderson - will change bidding strategy - & will look over all zones again - i think i am lucky then that i havent received a hotel in that area. :) thanks for taking the time to analyse the zones.

thereuare - again they dont have a 4* limit - but lets pick 120 - for now -as discussed earlier they just want to get a deal!

will give bidding a go again later today.

  4. Continued bidding today for 4* sth or nth strip

Started bidding @ 98 sth Strip - rejected - offer of $147 made

    then added Henderson @ 101 - rejected

then added Nth Strip @103 - rejected

can anyone help with more free rebid zones here

I'm aware that there are no 4* in Nth LV but not sure of the area to onclude as a free rebid zone

    thanks for any help

  5. Hoping to secure a Sth Strip 4 * Hotel

I used the PRICELINE link on this board

My bidding strategy to date; :)

Started bidding with 4* South Strip zone @81 - rejected

Added Nth Strip zone @86 - rejected

    On next day

Started bidding with 4* South Strip zone @81 - rejected but counter offer $149 made this time.

Added free rebid zone of henderson @ 87 rejected

    On next day

Started bidding with 4* South Strip zone @88 - rejected but counter offer $149 made again.

Added free rebid zone of henderson @ 90 rejected

On next day - which was yesterday

Started bidding with 4* South Strip zone @92 - rejected but counter offer $149 made again.

Added free rebid zone of henderson @ 95 rejected

Added Nth Strip zone @96 - rejected

    My Research shows that the average nightly rates - being date specific - are;

    4*

    M/Carlo: 179 , NYNY: $ 190, Paris: $220, Caesars: $260, P/holly: 289

MGM: $187 is classed as a 4.5* on some sites

    3* Excalibur 134, Luxor: 152

Any help with bidding strategy would be great! :)

Bidding is still well below the rack rates above - but if anyone else knows of better deals for these dates please let me know!

  6. Attempting to secure 2 x 5*rooms in South & North strip zones

time has been on my side so I thought I would try even though probably will book a 4*due to budget

I've been bidding over a few days (bidding days march 7th-13th)

Starting at $123 (I know this is a long shot - but thought i'd try)

other bids with some counter offers of 126,134,139,142,149,151,153,154 all being rejected.

Last bid of $160 was also rejected with no counter offer.

Yesterday on this board i read that someone won the venetian for $165 for the same dates - so i now know i was close!

(However I had started to bid for 4* hotels in this zone - which i will post in due course)

I hope this may help someone else!

  7. I was requiring 2 rooms for the period 14th-18th April 2008

    Disneyland areas

I started my bid using the PRICELINE link provided by this board.

    My bidding was as follows

Start bidding with 3* Disneyland area @ 53 - rejected

Added free rebid zone anaheim hills @ 55 (as no 3* here) - rejected then

Added free rebid zone mission vjeto @57 - rejected

    On another new day

started bidding with 3* Disneyland area @ 59 - rejected - received offer to raise by $17 -

Added free rebid zone mission vjeto and bid @61 - rejected.

Add free rebid zone anaheim hills & bid @63 - rejected.

    On another new day

started bidding with 3* Disneyland area @64 - rejected - received offer to raise by $17 again!

Add free rebid mission vjeto & bid @65

    offer accepted

I'm still new to bidding but happy with my result as I have not seen bad reviews for this hotel & price received nowhere near rack price.

I hope this info can help someone else along the way ....for this period this was the cheapest 3* i could find

  8. Thanks for you help & patience

    After much discussion , they have now decided that the short list of hotels for the dates In: 11 & Out 14th April are;

    Excalibur (still)

    MGM

    Monte Carlo

    Venetian

looks like they want to be up that end of town...they want a good deal....

But now they have asked me to get your advice to steer them in the right direction...sorry

  9. I'm aware that prices are time specific, but with this new booking hudson was the preferred....even though not opposed to other hotels in this zone

Budget is variable - but like everyone a good deal is what is wanted...Biggest concern in NY is that the room is clean...fussy travellers...

Hudson having small rooms - no worry - just like it that it is newish & could walk to central park.

  10. yep I do realise that dates are specific...so thanks for reaffirming that.

as stated in my earler post we are wanting a excalibur price & also another 'better'one for comparison in case they decide to spend extra for their stay in LV..mgm, paris,venetian...even monte carlo would help...so basically i need a bidding strategy for excalibur & also a bidding strategy for the other...

i know this is double the work however..this is the best i can do at the moment after discussion with the travellers,...so if anyone can assist with a biding strategy for either would be greatly appreciated.

  11. :) Can anyone help

I have previously booked through Priceline for friends staying at Hudson NY now...they are v.happy with hotel & location ...Price (PL bid) was $102 per night for 29 feb - 3 mar 08

I'm now wanting to book for dates at the end of this month.

Does anyone know how to guarantee that we can get this hotel?

Is it better to do thru hotwire or priceline? (if this hotel exist on HW)

Original booking done on priceline but as i'm new to both PL & HW i dont know what to do!

    any bidding strategy would help...please

  12. thankyou Henrik for taking an interest :)

Yep i'm not in too much of a hurry re bookings but as I'm doing all the bookings for my family (fit & healthy 55-60 yr olds)...they are the ones putting abit of pressure on, as they want everything booked yesterday. After discussion with them they want me to get a price for excalibur & also a choice of a nicer hotel like venetian? or something of that nature!

Since finding this website I have spent some hours - which go so fast - researching results strategies ...but i think i now have information overload....

so any assistance would be great from anyone who has any knowledge

    4*

    Monte Carlo 190,260,150

    NYNY 170,230,170

PARIS wanted to get prices but couldnt obtain from website..why?. ( saw price $99 on hotwire results)

    MGM Grande 200,260,200

5* Venetian 279,279,279 (prices seen as low as 139,159,155 on priceline results)

Palazzo 299,499,329 (prices seen on priceline 115,140,155)

  13. Hi I meant Priceline...hence this post on the priceline section-

I now know the difference between PL & HW...trying to anyhow...so sorry for my confusion for everyone...

I booked the NY reservations via Priceline & it was my 2nd bid...I cant remember if i addded the upper midzone last?

like i stated earlier i didnt keep any records of my bidding strategy as i didnt know this site (BB) existed... in the future I will hopefully be more aware of what I'm doing..

hopefully the board management can amend all of my posts to make it easier for others to follow...sorry

  14. hello :)

Well I'm new to all the priceline/hotwire/betterbidding thingy & i didn't keep a record of my bids (as i didnt know this site(bb) even existed when i went on priceline) so here goes...my first results for NYC

Hudson hotel 3* in upper midtown for $102 per night....

(I had been researching hotels & was completely getting more confused the more I looked.Especially as as i'm finding this accommodation for family - not myself)

yep have read some Hudson reviews - after my booking - & know the rooms are extremely small etc but I'm still happy as compared to where i was looking the accommodation is alot newer/cleaner etc...

all in all i was one happy customer using priceline...

  15. thank you...pileosnafu,mrxow, thereuare

nervously going to try tomorrow in obtaining lv accommodation even though i still dont think i know what i am doing

I didnt post my results as i stumbled on this website after i found accommodation in NY & didnt keep a track of what i did ..to get it to share with others..will try & post result...even though it may not be that great...but will send anyhow...

Also by the way i was trying to post for 2 days & realised i was doing totallly the wrong thing...even sending this reply i'm not sure i'm doing the right thing...but i'm giving it a go......so please be patient as i'm still learning...

I dont even know if my results for NY could have been better....but will try to post now i guess

thanks agin to those who have helped...if there anr any other tips please let me know....
