  1. Started at $40 and added Everett for a second bid at $42. Figured it'd be the Courtyard Sea-Tac. Goal was close to the airport but to avoid the ~$16/night parking in a similar quality hotel. Reliable brand; first time at this hotel. Weekend rate direct through their website is $109+tax Friday/Saturday and $189+tax weeknights. Only one other win posted for this property...in May, 2004.

  2. NEW HOTEL - not listed on Priceline hotel listing for Dallas/Irving-Las Colinas

Hotel opened on or around October 14, 2008, first Aloft in Texas and the first of 3 in the Dallas area by the end of the year

I was bidding 2.5* in Las Colinas attempting to secure the only known 2.5* property: the Holiday Inn Express (formerly Amerisuites). Bid $37, 39 & won the $40 bid on the 3rd attempt with this 3* upgrade. Yet to stay at Aloft, a W Hotel brand. Direct booking rates are $80.96 or $93.11 inclusive/night prepaid or $89/$102.35 for the period. Mid-week rates much higher, of course, around $159/night plus tax. Several promotions underway.

  4. Several attempts at 3*, $49, 52, 55, 56, 58, 59 - hit first attempt at 2* for $45. Figured it'd be the Fairfield Inn or the Extended Stay - was fortunate to land the Hilton Garden Inn. $159 to book direct.

NOTE: This hotel should be added to the pinned hotel listing; it does not appear there at this time.

  5. Pinned reference to amentities is accurate except Fitness Center has been added (along with Comp. Bkfast, pool, laundry, hi-speed internet). NOTE: A Park Inn for Altamonte is also on the pinned list; however, it may no longer be there.

    $34 + tax/fees = $44.65

  6. First attempt. Needed the room so went to the high end of the older posted ranges.

2.5* is the highest level left in Gainesville. Too bad Priceline can't do better, even though I doubt there's much 3* and up here and those hotels likely have a lesser need to fill rooms than other more crowded markets.

QUESTION: How are 2.5* rated hotels allowed to call themselves resorts. Resort fees at a 5* hotel are at least comprehensible. Thankfully, no resort fee here; however, 2.50 amenity fee. Love the sign posted in lobby - to help pay for your fancy amenities (soap & shampoo lol)...yes, they list a few other things...but it's the principle of it.

Cons: This Paramount Resort and Conference Center recently was downgraded to a 2.5* from a 3*. Definitely an older hotel - if it weren't for the restaurant, which looked too pricey for this caliber a hotel, it should be a 2*. Entrees $15-20/Room Service. Rooms are 10 years plus. Cheap remodeling job attempted in common areas. I saw the 6/10 rating from 304 reviews for the hotel prior to bidding - figured this would be the prize. Newer franchised Red Roofs (Accor) are nicer, and most of those are 2*. To compare to another broad-based chain, Choice Hotels, it's equivalent to a Sleep Inn or some older Clarions. Even the Cox Cable channel listing is out of date. Pillows low-grade polyster fill. Bath tissue somewhat easily confused with sandpaper. Mattress BY FAR the worst I've slept on in a 2.5* and on the low end of the 2* range. {NOTE: The only other 2.5* listed with Priceline is the Hilton UF Conference Center in Gainesville for a direct book of $159/night. Amazing these two hotels grade the same.)

Positives: Free wireless internet. Decent speed. Very good water pressure in shower. No parking fee. Rather quiet.

Direct booking rate with hotel was $66.24 + tax. Direct buy through Priceline was $69, I believe. I bid $5-8 too high - only 1 Gainesville zone - no second chances. (Mr. Moderator, feel free to post in the review section - I'm not quite up to speed on it :).

    $45 + $11.90 = $56.90

  7. It's an older hotel with very small rooms; that being said, it's essentially clean. Good price, though. Park Central doesn't have many options. The 3* Crowne Plaza across Coit (the only 3* I know in Park Central zone) is MUCH nicer; however, it'll normally take in the high 40's on the weekends well into the $50's during the week. The Galleria zone just to the West has many 3* options (6-8 hotels seem to regularly participate) where you can find rooms in the $30's on the weekends and even during the week, on occasion. Hope the room works for ya. PRICELINE is a superb tool for saving in your travels.

  8. First attempt. Hotel is renovating to a Meridian to be completed around Christmas (as of last visit about a month ago). They were removing furniture then so no telling what condition the hotel is in at present. Keeping fingers crossed... Still, with the rate, a compelling arguement for complaining is hard to muster :).
